The following is a list of all the Freeware games with links to the appropriate forum post since the games discussion thread was created two months ago. I thought it would make it easier to keep all the decent games together in one thread. :)

Originally I'd hoped to carry on where freeware fan had left off with respect to posting links to freeware games on at least a weekly basis, but I just haven't had the time and sometimes when I have I've just not had the inclination. I've gone over the top with purchasing big budget games over the past two months having bought nearly 20 DVD based games. I do this sometimes and then find myself occupied for a few months trying to decide which I'm going to complete (which I never do) There are some fantastic free games out there, some of which freeware fan introduced us to, plus there has been loads of others posted here over the past couple of months by lots of community members.

For those new to these forums it'll take you weeks to trawl through all of the links below as there are too many games to mention, though the ones that have been individually named such as Enigma, Stopple and Gem Tower would be the ideal places to start, I would also recommend checking out the Arkanoid and Space Shoot 'em up links, though I'm biased with respect to the two later ones, lol. Anyway have fun

It’s still in the Beta testing stage, but I can tell you it’s a brilliant physics based game that will stretch your mind. If you like building things you’ll certainly love World of Goo. If you want to Beta test World of Goo you unfortunately have to buy the game, even though it’s not released yet. The Beta test gives you one full chapter to test that took an evening to complete.

  7. I think it would be a good idea (for maintenance purposes) - to split the list into two sections:

    1. Free Forever (Freeware/Open Source)
    2. Free for Now (Shareware - On Free Offer)

I just yesterday discovered this little gem of a site, for anyone that likes brain games. I put 39 of these on my PC today. Most of the files are quite small, and most of the games can be quite challenging. In many of the games, you can create your own. You can also change a lot of settings such as colors, style, etc. A lot of work looks to have gone into these brain games. I hope you can find something you like:

I see that after my above posting, Whiterabbit added the free-game download site I mentioned to his list. I must be living right!

By the way, I wonder if anyone has ever thought that your nickname on here is "Whiter Abbit"???

  15. I see that after my above posting, Whiterabbit added the free-game download site I mentioned to his list.

That was my doing - I'm guessing if I keep the list current, WR will have more time available to find good games to add to it. ;)

Some nice additions, thanks gang; and yeah that may be a good idea BuBBy, regarding the seperation of always free and only free for some time. As for adding more games, for now I'm hoping the collective minds of this fantastic community will contribute. I'm still working through those big bucks games I mentioned I've bought recently. Thankfully I only have about three or possibly four more on pre order for the rest of this year. lol though I'm not sure what the latter half of this year promises with respect to new releases. :)

Copmom, I really need to trim my bookmarks as since coming to this forum I have to scroll down so many (despite trying to tidy it up by going into C:\documents and settings\name of your account\favorites and categorising every into appropriate folders. Works a treat, but the links that are posted here daily just fill up my bookmarks time and time again, lol hmmm I wonder if there is any software that managest bookmarks lol

This game is no pushover.....well, actually, it is! This game is called PUSHOVER, and it is a remake of an old Amiga game and is very nicely done. Another great puzzle-type game. And ANY game that features a character named "G.I.Ant" can't help but be good.

Enjoy solving the 100 levels. Or at least TRYING to.....

Here is a nice game I discovered today, and of course, it is free. It's called "KABOODLE", and it is NOT a match-3 type. I have only worked in the Puzzle Mode. It seems easy at first, but gets progressively harder. I must say that it is unlike any game I already had. -Dan

Here's a game I found today called "STICKY TAPES". A nice puzzle game and different from others I've seen and played. The web page has links to 5 screenshots. I've played a few levels so far, and it gets harder and harder. And when you replay a level, it is never the same, which means you can't memorize your way through the game. It does take a while to get used to the controls. You are only allowed so many clicks, and I keep wasting clicks when I hit the wrong arrow. You'll see what I mean.....

How well do yo know your fonts? In the Rather Difficult Font Game you try to identify 34 randomly generated font examples. I'm not even going to tell you how bad I did. :)

    Hi,

Just to add a couple more listings to what is mentioned above. I dont think that these have been included before but apologies if they have.

    Free Forever Games
This site offers 101 Free Full Version Games to download and is different from the 1up page above. There is bound to be several to choose from.

    http://www.download-free-games.com/freeware_games/

Another new site is Gamewagon which is also not shareware. The downloadable selection is limited to about 15 but there are some great online games such as Hidden Expedition Titanic, Mystery Case Files Ravenhurst, Virtual Villagers 2 and Star Defender 4.

    http://www.gameswagon.com/en/

Sorry if the links dont work out, I cant seem to figure what is wrong with that, I haven't had this problem before. Anyway please enjoy these sites and thanks to all in the forum for presenting the freeware games selection in a succint and accessible way.

    Cheers

I've just tried Kaboodle and found it quite challenging. It's a well made freeware program, that as Creamypretzel said is unlike anything I've got as well. Though looking at it you may at first glance mistakle it for a match three, ot a collapse game. It seems to be a cross between collapse and tetris. Definitely one worth downloading. thank you for finding that one. :)
