Yes! Perfect timing! Loved this program on my old PC, which died on me over the summer, so didn't have it on my new PC yet. Needed it to do a panorama of the snow in my neighborhood this past week, so downloaded the demo until I could find the full version on my old hard drive. Now I don't have to look for it! This will be the third time I've installed this from GOTD, it just works and does a nice job stitching photos together. Thank you for offering it again!

Installed and activated smoothly and worked really well creating a panorama of a large group of people. I love Teorex products. It would be awesome to see them offer a package deal on multiple apps.

I want to add that I am grateful for photostitching apps that save us from panoramas like these.

Thank you GOTD and TeoreX.

TeoreX specializes in software that fills-in-the-blanks, like when you want to remove an object or objects using their Inpaint app. The methods used to analyze an image in Inpaint likely lend themselves to matching image overlap in Photostitcher, while the Inpaint code that works so well to fill in missing data, works the same way when one [or more] of your panorama image borders don't match, e.g. creating a gap along the top &/or bottom [like the example at photostitcher[.]com].

To me, even if you just think you *might* shoot a panorama in the future, it's a no-brainer to grab Photostitcher while it's on GOTD -- it's a very lightweight install, so no penalties really to adding it to your toolbox. Is it the best? I don't really think that there is a best when it comes to panorama software, because what worked best on one image sequence you shot may not work so well on the next. Photoshop for example needs you to keep images level, since angles like the 1st example at photostitcher[.].com may cause errors. And the Ice app from Microsoft [mentioned in some of the comments] only does a decent job filling in the sky -- with the ground, not so much -- not to mention the ads in the main window, or that it doesn't appear to be under active development [it always was a research project after all].

The obvious exception to what I just wrote would be if you never edit images in Windows. The most widely used cameras are the ones people always have with them, because they're built into their cell phones. Most use cell phone apps &/or web sites & services for editing & FX, and because of that, there are plenty of photo/camera apps, including several for panoramas.

play[.]google[.]com/store/search?q=panarama&c=apps

That all said, stand-alone cameras, particularly more advanced models, can make shooting *good* panoramas more challenging... the optics in the larger lenses [vs. those used with cell phone cameras] cause some distortion, and while it usually may not be all that noticeable, when you're stitching images, matching one image with another, Any distortion at all is a bad thing. And not just the perspective, but the exposure settings can vary from one image in the sequence to the next, so you want to shoot in full manual mode [when/if available]. If the camera has a panorama mode, it might lock exposure settings &/or focus, and sometimes you'll get overlap guides in the display or viewfinder, all of which might be helpful. Normally though you want to do any stitching in Windows software, for those fewer cases where the camera can stitch it for you.

nikonusa[.]com/en/learn-and-explore/a/tips-and-techniques/panoramas.html

There have been several [older than the current version] DxO Optics giveaways, and that app, or others like Photoshop & Lightroom, can correct for lens distortions for most common lenses -- you can also save correction settings if your camera/lens isn't included. Especially if you save your images in a RAW format, apps like DxO Optics & Lightroom can also help match image characteristics a lot, e.g. matching white balance, if/when you need to.

[Whether you want to bother with that sort of thing is of course up to you -- it's not that hard to find rather poor examples of panoramas on-line that apparently look OK to lots of folks, so unless you're trying to sell limited edition prints or something, you're probably the only judge of your work that matters.]

Can someone pls help?

drvajra,

I believe with all TeoreX apps when it's not registered or activated you're limited when you want to save the image. Unfortunately that's the only way I know of to tell -- perhaps making it easier to tell is something they could add to future versions?

I 've been using this program since it was on GAOTD in April of 2017. it is a great program and I use it quite often. I am
retired now and do a lot of photography like wildlife and outdoors. This is a great tool and I use it with PhotoScissors at times. I have 2.0 already so I won't be downloading this time. Thanks GAOTD and TeoreX for all the fun.

When I try to run "setup" I get: "A required privilege is not held by the client."
So I can't run setup.

Bob,

Install the programme but do NOT run it.

Then run activate.exe which will activate PhotoStitcher.

Now when you start PhotoStitcher it will be ready to use.

No need for this, or any paid ones.
I use Microsoft ICE, free and really good, does everything I need for panoramas, can create panoramas and stop motion overlays from videos too. Great program

Unfortunately Microsoft ICE does not offer support for XP and Vista.
PhotoStitcher does and provides a way for those with older machines.

Jinglebob, XP no but Vista SP2 is still supported in ICE. Direct from their page linked to in bobs comment it states:

"Image Composite Editor works with 32- or 64-bit versions of Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista SP2."

I've had ICE 2.0 for a few years now, same build as offered for download today installed and running under Vista SP2

bob, I full agree with you. ICE is an absolutely amazing program and FREE to boot. Sometimes programs written by Microsoft aren't too great, take windows 10 for example (just kidding, I think) But ICE and another freebie, SYNCTOY, are two exceptions

Jinglebob, I can't test it, of course, but have you tried running IC in Emulation mode under windows 10, Just look for program compatibility in settings, it might work.

On the Microsoft ICE 2.0.3 d/l page it states that you need 64bit Win 7, 8 or10. If Vista SP2 is also good, that is a bonus.

bob,
The description of today's giveaway says: 'The program smoothly combines photos of different resolutions, shooting angles and even different perspectives into one perfect panorama".
Would someone be so kind and confirm that ICE can do these specific actions too? If so, I'd rather install ICE, and pass on today's offer.
Thank you in advance.

consuella,
To test all of those things would take a long while, possibly longer than today's offer will last (unless someone has the type of photos already handy).

You might not get a reply, so I suggest you download BOTH and try them. I have three photostitchers on my computer, as I have found that Microsoft's ICE is the one I go to first, but if the results are not as good as I would have liked, I try the others. Sometimes one will work better than the others.

Jinglebob,
I love ICE myself, but I have two versions - One I keep for older computers that I occasionally use.

If you cannot use the current version of ICE, then File Hippo still have the 32-bit version of ICE, Version 1.4.4 here:

https://filehippo.com/download_microsoftimagecompositeeditor/

I hope it can help those of us with older versions of Windows on some computers...

TK_M,

Thank you for your excellent advice. I will download and try both programs, as soon as I get back home from work.

Regards,

consuella

Yes this software kind is not for everyday use, but it's nice for those moments when need simple task as this to rely on some software. There is other applications offer this, not so simple, but after some test I like the automation of the process in PhotoStitcher. Thanks for this giveaway.
