Pardon my ignorance about this program but from what I've read downloaded etc on the LiteManager website in the last hour-and-a-half:
QUESTiON 1: Is today's release the PRO version?
QUESTiON 2: Does the GotD download LiteManager49-uc64tf.zip include just 1 (one) License or do I have to buy the Licenses?

Wally L,
Pro and Free version in one package, switch between then very easy

Is this "Windows only" or will it also work with Linux and iOS?
Save | Cancel
Lewis Murray, the website offers versions for Windows, MAC, iOS and Android....
Save | Cancel
Johnny, So close and yet so far. Without Linux, it is useless to me. I'll have to stick with Teamviewer.
Save | Cancel
Johnny,
can i download the program on a Chromebook as the laptop that can tap into a windows 10 PC where I would also have to download the program?
Save | Cancel
Lewis Murray, Tryout Anydesk which works on all platforms.
Save | Cancel
Leland, would you say Anydesk or even this freebie is better than TeamViewer?

Lewis Murray,

ps, Not sure I understand your question(s), but I'll try. Can you download it to a Chromebook- probably, but I don't think it would RUN on a Chromebook. Secondly, yes, you have to install the server portion on the machine you want to control remotely. You run the viewer application on the machine YOU'RE going to be using.
Save | Cancel
Leland Whitlock, one factor worth noting- AnyDesk is a subscription product. As such, you never really autonomously 'own/use' it. I've auditioned A LOT of remote desktop programs, and was never comfortable with software that "phoned home" - to see if I was still authorized to use it. After all, what happens if they decide to go close-up-shop next week? Ultimately, I was using VNC but my company's network admin banned it. Truthfully, it WAS a larger attack magnet than LM.

ps,
There is simple client module Viewer for Android platform, try it

when installed on a PC and then using the software on a laptop when out of town, can I remotely gain access to the PC without anyone having to be at the main PC??
Save | Cancel
LM, Yes. I do it all the time; remotely controlling my home PC from work. I'm doing it right now, in fact.
Save | Cancel
LM, When out of town, take care that the PC will not go to sleep after some hours. Some Windows do that.
Save | Cancel
Ootje, the only thing that comes on after 10 minutes is the screensaver pictures which I've set that way. Where is the sleep (or no sleep" setting in windows 10 please?
Save | Cancel
Ootje, I also configure my machine to automatically turn ON at the same time each morning. That way, a power blip/failure doesn't potentially leave my machine OFF until I return home. Worst-case, I'll be unable to contact it until the next power-on time. (I've never been able to reliably master the voodoo that is W.O.L.)
Save | Cancel
ps, You'll have to look in the Energy-scheme settings(?)
Save | Cancel
Johnny, That's is a very good idea(start every morning). Better safe than sorry.
And so you will be able to contact your machine.
W.O.L. I have heard of it and also that some server every night all the workstations in the building(300) gave a system-restore. And the help-desk-man was bored after 3 month and got another job. No troubles any more. Every day every machine was clean and running. All of this with W.O.L.

The features mention "for x64 platform."
I guess that leaves out remote-controlling my 32-bit Win-10 Laptop.
Does anybody have some information / experience regarding this?
Save | Cancel
Snurre Sprett,
HOPEFULLY the LiteManager Team will reply about 32-bit issue.
I meant to ask the question myself in #comment-615282 but it got deleted when recaptcha refreshed.
I couldn't see any mention in the website info while i was looking around

Snurre Sprett,
It works for 32 and 64 bit plaform. All files compiled for x32 but works well on x64.
Use it on x32 without any problem.

Wally L,
x32 and x64 supported

I've been a paid user of LiteManager for about 2 years. In fact, it's running as I type this- with a 2" thumbnail view of my home desktop in the corner of my work machine. I'm keeping an eye on my home machine's video conversion process. I paid for a license- because it was an absolute bargain, and I've been thoroughly pleased with the program since day one. My only issue- I can't, for the life of me, get the iOS app to link-up remotely using direct IP access.

Johnny,
4.9 versionis more stable. Download IOS client from Appstore
It works with direct IP connect

Thank you for the response. I [am] actually running one version behind at the moment. This exemplifies another reason I've been consistently happy with LiteManager- It's SUPPORTED! I've had questions/confusion over a few things over these last two years, and my questions were answered....by a person! (And I just checked my emails- it was Denis, actually) None of this business of going to a forum and posting a question- and hoping for an answer from aNyOnE. I sent an email, and the next day I had a response.

This looks a lot like teamviewer https://www.teamviewer.com/en-us/ except it has a few more bells and whistles I don't recognize. I use teamviewer as an automatic network that does not need my input to set up and it works great but from time to time data transfer between computers stops working and only a reboot fixes it Does LiteManager 4.9 do data transfers between computers
Save | Cancel
MOV,
Yes, there is File transfer mode

Teamviewer is a great product except for one thing: the pricing for commercial use is ridiculously high, and even after you buy a license they start nagging you (and your customers) within months to upgrade to the newest version for another ridiculously high upgrade fee. I'm happy to see good alternatives. The concern for commercial use is the reputation and reliability of the vendor. You can't advise your customers to use unknown software on their computers, and if anything ever went wrong, or there was a security breach, it could severely damage the business.

Felix Crevat, I'm pissed at TeamViewer. I purchased lifetime license(v12) and now they want me to move to monthly pricing with all monies due up front. I'm currently using ZOHO assist ($10 month) but it's not perfect. But I use it to connect to the remote machine, then start the TV version 12 Quickstart. Then I connect to the machine using my TV 12
Save | Cancel
MOV, Maybe take a look at AnyDesk
Save | Cancel
Felix Crevat, TeamViewer also calls for the screen you’re tapping into that someone be able to tell you the password every time you want to control it. Does this software call for the same method?
Save | Cancel
Felix Crevat,
Your are 100% right :)
Save | Cancel
Lau,
LiteManager can works with permanent password saved in settings or with new random password like in TV.
There is a lot of settings
Standard install
http://www.litemanager.com/support/Knowledgebase_en/instr_install_server_viewer/
or use QuickSupport

My first question... can this be used in a headerless configuration? i.e. logging into a remote server without a monitor or keyboard and the session being an entirely remote session with no local user interface component like we can with Microsoft Remote Desktop or is this purely a remote assistance tool that requires the server be a local login session on the server with a real keyboard and real video card and display?
Next question I presume that this license is just for a single remote session seat and nothing more? And if we need or want more we'd have to buy additional licenses at $10 per seat or less depending upon license volume ordered?
Save | Cancel
TK,
LiteManager can works with PC without monitor, but I'm not sure on 100%, because Windows freeze video system if monitor is disconnected. LM can work in Logon screen or in RDP session, it is different situations. Test it.
License for remote PC (not for sessions). 1 License = 1 contact in Viewer list. Yes nee additional license $10 per remote PC (or contact in Viewer's list).

Denis Y, I've been using Teamviewer for many years now, but this program looks very promising. Can this Giveaway version do the same job as my Teamviewer, that is one supporter and many clients? Or do I have to purchase a license for each of my clients?
Save | Cancel
hoghoj, check info on their site, it will be much clearer.
Depending on your needs, you have two types of licences, one more suited for home users, and one more suited for professionals who helps many users.

There are bound to be questions on this one... and one will be where are the .MSI files mentioned in the included readme.txt file?
The current readme.txt refers to two installers:
"Unzip the package you've downloaded and install the software by running LiteManager Pro - Server.msi
and LiteManager Pro - Viewer.msi.
LiteManager Pro - Server.msi program component that is installed on the remote user's computer or the server (remote installation is possible).
LiteManager Pro - Viewer.msi program component that is installed on the administrator's computer and used for controlling remote computers."
It should read:
Unzip the package you've downloaded and install the software by running LiteManager Pro - Server.exe
and LiteManager Pro - Viewer.exe installers.
LiteManager Pro - Server.exe program component that is to be installed on the remote user's computer or the server (remote installation is possible).
LiteManager Pro - Viewer.exe program component that is to be installed on the administrator's computer and used for controlling remote computers."
GAOTD can reduce the number of times the question is asked or complaints are made about the glaring mistake by editing the readme.txt in a similar manner to the way I have done and replacing the Readme.txt file in the bundle with the corrected version. Would be nice to also include the details of the pro license duration and how many server sessions the viewer will be able to manage simultaneously too as that will be a FAQ today I'd wager!
