Well, I received an activation code in my email... was easier to get the code sent to email from their site, but anyhow, they sent it, and I copied (highlited it, and ctrl+c to copy it and I clicked on the line to paste it in the activation window, and clicked ctrl + v to paste it. I then proceeded to click "OK", and it said"invalid activation code" in red under the line I had just pasted it onto. So, now what? I really want this software but all the stress of getting it makes a different one from a different company look great. Hopefully you guys can straighten this out because I like APowersoft as a company and use many of their products.

I think that is a good point, however I can think of one way this software is (or could be) better. OBS is great for recording higher frame rates, like 50-60 FPS, so for recording game playing, it is a great choice. I recorded a 45 minutes segment at full-screen (1980x1080) using ApowerRec, and the frame rate is 20.242638 (per VLC Player). It isn't bad, but it isn't what you want when you need the higher frame rate.

The problem I have had with OBS: I find that if I leave OBS running (no recording going on) for long periods of time, my PC gets sluggish. I don't have that when I do not run OBS. Likely, it is a result of some memory leak that hopefully will be fixed in the future. For that reason, when frame rate is not important, I prefer using something like ZD Soft Screen Recorder, or even something like ApowerRec. I still use OBS often, and I can depend on it getting the job done right, ... when I need it.

This program (ApowerRec) did not do a bad job recording, and keeping audio in sync (unlike some of the other screen recorders we have had on GOTD). The problem with this software (ApowerRec) is the difficulty of the licensing issues more than anything else. Had it not been such a problem, there would have been more comments on how it performs, than "how do I get it registered?" That is a key point, and your comment proves that, we like the things that work, free or not! Had it been easier to test, when future screen recorder programs are offered, there might be statements like, "How is this better than ApowerRec?"

Granted, OBS is free, and ApowerRec is not free, but if it had been reasonably priced, performed well, was easy to register, they could have jumped much closer to the head of the pack of screen recorders. Instead, they seemed to be more interested in collecting new e-mail addresses than having their software decently reviewed and discussed. One thing I know for sure, my OBS license is not going to expire in 41 days!

Joe, Do not wait for 60 seconds to receive the verification code: it arrives very quicly and you have 60 seconds to enter it; for the serial to activate, it is in the Readme.docx file!

That may be a problem with the program displaying the Readme.doc file. For me, the numbers do exist. I even tried Atlantis Word Processor, and the numbers are shown as expected. I have other gripes with the offer, but the numbering should not be one of them.

Gary, it's a docx file, not the more common doc file.
I only have Microsoft Word 2003, which doesn't read it. It opens automatically with Microsoft WordPad, which warns "Wordpad does not support all of the features of this document format. Some content might be missing or displayed improperly."

Yep, I realized I left off that x at the end, and they are indeed different types of files.

As soon as I read that they were all number 1, I immediately thought of WordPad. I have seen that before.

I have used MS Word 2000 since it came out. It has the ability to open any docx file but that is because I had to install an addon to MS Word. It is called "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats" (do a search), and it is still on Microsoft's website; I just downloaded it to be sure it is still available). It allows the versions of office before 2007 to open the docx (Word), xlsx (Excel), and pptx (PowerPoint) format files. Since it works with MS Word 2000, you can understand that it will also work for 2003. After all, the 2003 was the last version before the 2007, so the addon was definitely designed to work with it. It is a 28.4 Meg download and simple install. It will give your Word 2003 many more years of life. Unless there is something you really need that is in the newer MS Office programs, your MS Word 2003 will do just fine.

You can also install one of the many free programs that can open/edit RTF files. Almost all newer ones also support the docx format.

Your accounts are based on an e-mail address. I really do not want to go to the hassle of getting another e-mail address just to create another account. And if I did, you would have another e-mail address collected in your database. You did not explain how you would ignore that address, and it really doesn't matter. The work is in your hands to "figure out a more effective way to solve this issue" then we (the users) can do a better job at testing out your application, and pointing out any additional flaws we notice.

But as it doesn't record 1080p, as I found in discussion, not very useful for me anyway.

Dear Henry, you can record both screen and webcam at the same time. And as for the 1080p issue, you can select the recording area manually and the maximum area you can select depends on the resolution on your PC system. You can check the maximum resolution on your PC system, for example, if you have 1600x900, then this is the biggest area you can choose. Thank you!
