Now I stay away from PCWinSoft f.k.a AlgoLogic software products - from previous bad experience.
If it works for you, good for you.

MP3myMP3 and PlayIt Recorder are 2 that work well for me.

most devices now can record both sound and audio for free. If your using windows just enable "Stereo Mix" from the control panel and use Audacity or loop back a cable from the speaker/headphone output to the line-in/microphone input.

What would be more useful however, that no company seems much bothered using is ASIO4ALL. Some software use ASIO as it reduces latency with audio but only problem is, you can't capture the sound. Without ASIO, everything becomes out of sync, stuttery or lagging. Just an idea.

Anonymous, ASIO is only useful for laying down a track while playing back existing tracks into headphones to reduce but not eliminate the latency. There is usually still detectible latency when using ASIO4ALL it is just significantly less than directsound or all other methods of audio subsystem interfacing. BUT you should not exepreience stuttery or lagging audio unless something is wrong with your configuration!

There are several sound chipsets that excluded the extra analogue to digital converters needed to sample the stereo mixers output to provide that input pin you mention to enable... That is where WASAPI in audacity comes in which lets you record system output devices too.

Also IF you have a soundchipset that does include a stereo mix input pin as far as windows is concerned then you should also be able to enable that input source in ASIO4ALL by using the advanced settings and enabling which input and output sources you want to be able to use in an ASIO based program.

The reason most developers don't care to bother with the ASIO interface is they don't need to as the existing sound subsystems are more than adequate for their needs on reasonably spec'd systems and The higher level audio subsytems handles things like rate conversion or sample size conversion which for a developer is very desirable the hardware may be running at 96kbps and 24bit integer but your app wants 44.1Kbps at 16bit... if that's what you want directsound will do the conversion for you and you don't have to care about what the real devices settings are.

Takeshi, always shame on them even if you feel shame for being too optimistic! All 1AV* product family are based around obsolete legacy systems and should be re-designed to use at least the next generation of technology even if they cannot figure out current windows technology! .NET 4.00 is windws XP based framework as is DirectSound in fact DirectSound is Windows 98 technology!

Once again, another recording program with issues. This recorder will work provided that certain requirements are met as mentioned in TK's comments.

Save yourself time and headache and download the FREE audio recorder from https://www.moo0.com.
The program does not have a lot of bells and whistles but simply works.

While you are there, check out their other FREE programs like their video recorder. If you are happy with their programs they only ask from a modest donation.

This is software based upon obsolete technology and does not even use the WASAPI technology introduced in windows vista so only relies upon the discreete input devices presented by the included sound device drivers. IF you don't have a Wavin or stereo soundmixer input device you will not be able to record system sounds or playing sound directly. It is crazy that the system requirements say Vista and above windows versions when this only supports XP and earlier sound subsystems technology and only functions under vista and above because MIcrosoft includes legacy technology for backwards compatability with old software! My recomendation is use Audacity to record playing audio on any Vista and above system using WASAPI or on hardware supported systems under XP using DirectSound.

tried twice - first zip package did not contain the program file, ran activation file and no program but showed successfully activated. Downloaded trial version from website and ran activation file, still evaluation version. What am I doing wrong?

This sometimes happens because of the use of Themida wrapper by Giveawayoftheday. Some antivirus programs like Avast, AVG, prevent the installation because of that.
Try to disable your antivirus for a minute or so, and reenable it as soon as a setup window appears. Now continue the installation, and it should be a smooth sailing from here on.

To sie czesto zdarza gdy program jest opakowany Themida przez Giveawayoftheday.
Dlatego sugeruje, zeby Pan ponownie sprobowal instalacje programu.
Ale trzeba zatrzymac program antyvirusowy, a czasem takze zapore ogniowa, na bardzo krotko, az instalacja sie zacznie, i zaraz potem natychmiast wlaczyc z powrotem program antyvirusowy i zapore ogniowa, i kontynuowac instalacje.Wszystko powinno isc teraz gladko.

The registration is automatic - just run setup, then the program will work.

If you check the 'Help' button, then click on 'about', you will see it is already registered.
