Awesome! Thank you GotD and WonderFox Soft. I've been a longtime user and love their programs/applications.

They need to take away Windows XP support. Because it doesn't work at all.

Before I changed my OS and did a fresh install of everything in the PC , I had used older versions of WonderFox HD Video Converter Factory Pro before and they were good software. I am sure the new versions of WonderFox HD Video Converter Factory Pro are very good.
I was about to download and install this giveaway today.
Then I checked and realised the VideoProc giveaway by GOTD that I had installed recently, also have video conversion ability.
That is, I already have giveaway software to do video conversion.
In addition I have Xmedia Recode portable + free software, in the PC.
So the point is, would I like to have some more giveaway video converters installed in the PC?
The answer this time, is No. The following is the reason for being conservative.
Because years ago when I was using XP and had numerous video converters/players/editors installed, I ever encountered a system crash.
The PC reported that it was due to conflicting video drivers or dll or program code.
So I guess I should not be greedy for more, when I already have.

If that program can only embed subs from an MKV and no external subs to embed them in a movie, then I can't do anything with that program.

I put Factory to work on three video clips. I cut the parts of each of the video clips that I wanted and tried to join all cut bits together as one video.
It was fast in compiling the videos but it failed to create one video from the three videos. I may have done something wrong or it can't combine videos once they have been cut. It also may have been due to different frame sizes for the three videos. So in the end I compiled each video separately.
I was pleased by the quality of the compiled videos; there didn't seem to be a drop in quality when converting to MP4 at the same frame size of the original video.

I have tried all day (at least 10 times), and even shut down my virus control. Says it cannot connect .... try later??

When I saw that Intel GPU acceleration was included, I was interested enough to try this out.
My hopeful optimisation was very quickly destroyed though as when doing a very simple transfer of an old MP4 to MKV, the conversion did not even commence, with a message stating "You are using the giveaway version now".
Therefore despite the claim that 'The program is available for $34.95', nothing could be further from the truth because this is not only a crippled version but severely enough to make it pretty worthless, especially when free products such as Handbrake can do all that this offering can do that is useful and more.
Why vendors continue to offer crippled versions without being up front about it I don't know because all it does is damage whatever reputation that they may have.

I had the previous version from GAotD but that broke a while back. It's a bit unfortunate that today's version is already no use on some sites, however it does seem the registration code works with the 17.1 version from Wonderfox, which seems a really good way to avoid any down-sides with today's download.

Tried to download several youtube videos. All of them failed during the "analyze" step. Sid I should check the network connection, which I know is good. They should say in the description if it won't handle Youtube.

I have used Wonderfox for years, starting from when I first noticed it as a GOTD offering. Last year I purchased this and have no issues with conversion. I generally convert from mp2 to wmv or mp4. Windows 7 64. When I have to reinstall the software my license did not work. Support responding fairly quick with a new licence. Currently using v 17.0. I find this software easy to use.

Installed the Setup.exe/gcd wrapped 17.0 installer and the 17.1 bare installer from their site both accept the giveaway event license without issue. The youtube downloader in 17.1 functions ok... am now downloading a sample 8K webm video to test, is just over 2Gig bytes so will have to wait a while... Normal conversion functions ok under Vista as it uses the ffmpeg DLLs in the "data" subfolder where the youtube downloader executable resides.
The copy of ffmpeg.exe that they renamed WonderFoxEncodingEngine.exe to and its own DLLs are in a seperate folder called "data1" and those are built for windows 7 and above and will not run under Vista or earlier and are a newer version than the build in the "data" folder. There is a 64bit build of the same in a further sub folder called x64. No idea what they are intended to be used for.
There is an executable in the programs installation folder called FirstOff.exe
Which you can run if you want to receive a claimed 70% discount for the lifetime license @ $14.95 which I presume is offered when you go to uninstall the program.

Downloaded, installed on Win10. While installing not only did the "wrapper" say activated, but I also got the page " You Successfully Activated Now What"? NOPE. Just in case I opened it and had to input the license in the Read Me file. Not the end of the world, but just bad. IF I hadn't checked the software wouldn't have worked after tonight.

Robert, same happened to me, and until now, it is not downloaded, dispite I have tried several times, and disabled both antivirus and . But after all it is not worth it at all when I see what # 10 says. I dont bother to try any more.

Installed ok on my pc, looks like they have made some small badly needed improvements, but have never really been that impressed with Wonderfox products, Even with this updated version as a fresh install on my new WIN 10 64BIT Laptop, to see if all the Video downloading issues have been fixed. Every youtube video tested, program still keeps freezing, or does not work, same error as others has reported.
I also thought they had added finally added some Video Sound clean up filters for hissing or feedback in older videos, but did not find any options that fixed or even improved Video sound feedback at all.
Why release a version that does not even work properly, or have viable (video & audio filters), or cannot even download Youtube Videos properly still,
That even similar Free programs can easily download &, trim & edit?
Just do not see any incentive to pay for this in the near future, if no real , useable upgrade options, that freeware already does.

There are many things that aren't so hot compared with other programs like the free of charge Vidcoder for instance. Where Vidcoder will recode a 13 GB MP4 video file that has originally 12.5 MB/s bitrate to barely more than 1 GB (at 2 MB/s bitrate), Wonderfax will at the same bitrate and with also h264 coding do not better than 1.9 GB. Worse, when choosing customized settings it claims not to be able to convert my MP4 file at all (Vidcoder, Tipard, Wondershare, XMedia Recode all can. Only the Smart Fit will work but reduced file size is still over 6GB. Clipping is difficult to set and not frame precise. Other competing programs can do that better.

Konrad,
There are a Lot of settings besides bit rate with the X264 AVC/H.264 encoder that's used by both Vidcoder & WonderFox HD Video Converter Factory Pro, when you don't use one of the profiles designed for GPU assisted encoding in the Wonderfox app & similar, and many of those settings effect encoding speed, quality, & file size. When you use one of the profiles meant for GPU assist, Wonderfox & similar may use the encoder from the company that makes the GPU, since the X264 encoder can barely use GPU assist, if at all.
So, the larger file size may be because you used the GPU-based encoder in WonderFox HD Video Converter Factory Pro, and/or the profile you used has different settings [options]. You might be able to see some of those differences using MediaInfo with the re-encoded files. If you use the X264 encoder with both, *and identical settings*, then the results should be more-or-less identical.
RE: not being able to re-encode your file using customized settings... you **might** have better results with GPU assist on or off. No idea why Wonderfox with customized settings doesn't like the video you used, but beyond turning GPU assist on/off, IMHO it's not worth troubleshooting since you're happy with Vidcoder.

Konrad,
No matter what you use to do it, converting a video that's 13 GB in size with MP4 12.5 MB/s encoding to one that's 1 GB in size at a 2 MB/s bitrate will result in so much compression as to be close to unwatchable on anything but a five inch screen.
"Other competing programs can do better" at reducing filesize may be true, but it also makes the video unwatchable on a larger screen, with macroblocking, motion jumping, and other issues.

Think hard about the lifetime license. Every time that I have upgraded Wonderfox software that has a lifetime license, the previous registration information does not work which forces me to contact Wonderfox support. This is the only piece of software that I have a lifetime license for that requires me to do this. They apparently do not have a decent registration process for their lifetime licenses.

PTyson,
Not sure if this will help or not... I think WonderFox stores the registration info in a WonderFox folder in My Documents. *Maybe* copying that folder somewhere else, then pasting it back after installing the updated version would work?

senzai6293, Interestingly the registration key in the ReadMe works with the 17.1 download from Wonderfox, which is very handy (as 17.0 is already a bit stuffed...)
