I downloaded and installed WinX DVD Ripper and I have the license but where do I put that and my
email in to register it? (To activate the full functions of this program, you need to input your valid email as Licensed Email and activate giveaway license before Nov 22) Is there a link to do that or go to as I didn't see it.
thanks in advance for the help

When is the deadline for installing it ?
I use XP 95% of the time, but this giveaway is only for W7 upwards.
My W7 PC is currently upgrading to W10, so it won't be available to install this giveaway for a few hours yet (and the giveawayoftheday count down has 1.5 hours to go)

I have tried this program on several giveaways and not once have I found it useful. In the past I have tried it several times and it just did not work. So now I try the latest and greatest, insert the first disk to try, and it tells me that it won't work unless I pay to upgrade to a new better version. No thanks! If the basic pro doesn't work (not even a trial, supposedly the pro version) then there is no way I am paying for another version.

spacecon,
My experience has been the total opposite of yours: I've used WinX DVD Ripper for many years and it almost NEVER failed
me! It has been my #1 goto DVD Ripper program for a long time. No other ripper comes close.

Steve Behrens, I am glad that your experience has been very different than mine. I downloaded and registered no problem. Then when I go to run, the very first thing it does is ask me if I want to upgrade and pay a price. Well, I thought that the GOTD version was the "reeal" version, but maybe not. I hadn't even tried the program yet and I got this message. So apparently the giveaway of the day version is not the same as the purchased version. So next, I ignore the upgrade message and continue to test the program. When I tell it to start, it gives me a message something along the lines of "this dvd is special, so click here to learn how to decrypt this dvd". So I click and it takes me to a page where it asks me to upgrade to get up to date decryption for all dvds. What the heck? Maybe the paid version is good, but I have no way of knowing that, because I sure as hell aint gonna pay for it when the supposed licensed version from giveaway of the day won't even let me test it on one single dvd. And maybe there is something peculiar about this one dvd I am trying, but again, I am not going to pay just to try it out on one dvd. 100% failure rate for me. But it is very aggravating that the giveaway of the day version is not the "real" version, but a crippled one that acts only as clickbait to get you to buy the "real" version, which who knows if that would work.

Why don't people just use MakeMKV then HandBrake?

This is the second time I've downloaded this giveaway. This is an outstanding piece of software. I lost the last giveaway from a reinstall and I won't be making that mistake again. I WILL be buying the lifetime license for this very soon. (Retired and have to wait on my Social Security check)

Downloaded, Installed and registered with no problems on my Win10x64 machine. I can't say enough good about this company or its software. It does what it says and does it well. What more can you ask? While it DOES take a bit longer to rip a DVD than it says for me I always rip to Ts files to store on my HDD instead of the mp4 format. Quality is excellent and I've never found (yet anyway) a DVD it couldn't handle. Ripping the latest "How to train your Dragon" as we speak. As that's a Disney affiliated thing you'll know what I mean about it handling everything I've thrown at it.

If you have any need at all for this kind of software , grab this while you can. You will NOT be sorry.

I don't back up all my DVDs, but on the many special (to me) discs I've tried, this program has always worked well. Easy and fast. Looking forward to trying the new version!

What's the limitation of the giveaway version mentioned in the popup after installation?

WinX DVD Ripper Platinum 8.20.0 is very good to use, but you should keep in mind that you must use a minimum of 1280x720 pixels and a bit rate of 4000kB / sec to get an acceptable quality.

Reply   |   Comment by Emilie Kuri  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Emilie Kuri,

"... you must use a minimum of 1280x720 pixels and a bit rate of 4000kB / secyou must use a minimum of 1280x720 pixels and a bit rate of 4000kB / sec..."

DVD specs are that the video Must be analog broadcast standard of 720 x 480 or 576. The video must also be interlaced [required by old-style TVs] but this isn't usually an issue since most movies use embedded flags with [usually 24 fps] progressive video to mimic interlaced. [IOW there's nothing to deinterlace.]

You Do Not want to increase the frame size, because that means the software will have to guess what pixels to add, which is especially a problem given the artificially lowered video quality of most current DVDs used as DRM to discourage ripping. If you need to fill a screen larger than 720 x 480 or 576, let the player or HDTV upscale it for you -- it'll do a better job. And at the original frame size, AVC video at 1.5-2.5 bit rate works just fine, generally reducing the video file size by roughly 1/2-2/3.

Using WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe on HD video, e.g. from a Blu-ray of course will give MUCH better results, but far as I can tell WinX doesn't currently offer a product to decrypt Blu-ray, so you'd have to use something like MakeMKV 1st.

mike, Do you think that I do not know what you are all told. The quality then was acceptable when there were only CRT TVs. DVDs were better than a video tape. That was a long time ago.

I have to agree with Jo: "After using this program from previous giveaways, I ended up buying the full lifetime version and I've been pretty happy with it. Recommend."

This company knows their stuff as I have been using this Ripper and their Winx-Copy-Pro for years.

No complaints. Copy protection no problem.

A definite use and buy for me.

Love it! It doesn't work on my Acer Laptop(something wrong with DVD Player/Writer) but it works very good on HP Laptop, Thanks

Reply   |   Comment by Andrias Muller  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Andrias Muller, Just a practical idea, based on my experience: The built-in DVD player on my laptop is failing with age. But I have no problem using software like this if I attach an external DVD player (the kind that connects via USB cable). An external unit can be quite cheap (especially around this time of year), and it's nice to have around to use with future computer laptop purchases too (internal DVD drives are often not included these days).

mark_wr, Thanks for the tip, yes, I do plan to get an external DVD or Blu-Ray writer in future as soon as I have the finances to afford it. Thanks!

When does the giveaway license expire?

Reply   |   Comment by Gary  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Gary, usually when they don't specify, it remains functional for as long as you have it... But without upgrades, it may become unusable after a while.
I've used software from this provider before, don't remember having any issues. Good overall experience.

Reply   |   Comment by Robert  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+12)

Gary, I have 8.9.1 from a previous giveaway and it's still okay. I'd generally agree with exactly what Robert said, although a few of the GiveAways do forget their licences after a while for some reason. Don't remember any from WinX having an issue.
