It's an attempt to create all-in-one program that does anything you might need for your files, the result is the mess.

Norman,

I had followed the link for information how to upgrade the 1-year license to lifetime for free, and came across the following instructions:
Requirements:

1) You’ve got valid Professional AUTD 1-Year license.
2) Pass real name verification.
3) Get at least 10 like votes within the first year here (SANWHOLE SUPPORT CENTER).

Nos. 1 and 2 I understand, number 3 is cryptic and uninformative. What are these 'like' votes? WHO is voting, and how?

By the way, I have browsed through the catalog of software on your website. You indeed have some very interesting software, but your marketing efforts are severely injured due to the poor English translations (in some cases unintelligible). In another case, on the page dedicated to your iMail3 enterprise software, you have nonsensical SPAM messages in some of the screenshots! Although inadvertent I'm sure, using spam text to showcase the UI of your flagship email program is quite terrible from a marketing perspective.

Feel free to reach out to me if you would like some assistance with a proper translation for your website. I have a long history working in Sales at a French software company, so I know very well the importance of correct, intelligent advertising copy in your target market's native language. I'm confident that with an overhaul of your ad copy into professional native English, you can increase your company's penetration into English-speaking markets, as well as gain a nice advantage over your fellow Chinese competitors.
You can reach out at rob1ert.gar1ofalo@keeninsites.c1om. (Please remove all occurrences of the numeral '1' from that address)

I can't believe the verification process - photo ID and current photo? I wanted to download and try this software, not join MI5. Sorry, not happening!

Very Special Error:
After downloading and unpacking the archive (all tested and OK), I ran "setup.exe".
After the "test connecting to GOTD", the message "Failed to launch the program" (??? !!!) appeared.

Can you tell me what should I do with it?

Note: This error has never happened to me.

If I want to give the output file to someone else, do they need to have this software, to view it?

Reply   |   Comment by rich  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

rich, Yes, they need the software to view it. But they don't need paid edition, free edition is enough.

Okay, so downloaded and installed after waiting nearly an hour for the link. Once installed managed to register easily and quickly .... So far so good .... Did a restart just in case required, although a restart wasn't requested. First attempt to run the program resulted in nothing happening, second attempt program opened and decided to try the example included in the install ... It worked for roughly a minute then threw up an error message saying Vole Edutainment encountered a problem and needed to close. Tried again and got the same error, thinking perhaps the example file might corrupt I attempted to create my own file and again got the same error. Totally unimpressed and uninstalled.

Sorry to break the news but I think that this is a scam. Seen other software from this same vendor on a different site and it was a joke.

what is this program for exactly? i'm having a hard time imagining the use case of this. is it like a Microsoft Word but with VLC added? Did the developers hear about split browser mode?

"Login and to your account | VERIFY | UPLOAD DOCUMENT to submit your picture ID and current photo and wait to approve."

This is from the vendors web site, can someone (from Sanwhole) elaborate on this? What kind of ID you looking for and why on earth would I want to trust you with that? If you want to verify someone ask for a PAYPAL donation of say 25 cents and you got it. This is so strange.......never run into this except for email phishing where they want my checking account to deposit money. Isn't GOTD looking into the details of these offers?????

Softuser,

Check the answer at About Sanwhole -- straight from the horse's mouth :

https://www.sanwhole.com/Home/About

It looks like a joke, but it isn't.

"Sanwhole strong but small. Due to this, we have to make a choice in High-quality software or High-quality description. We first chose the former. Sanwhole software is very advanced. Because of this, Sanwhole software has its operating rules. The software can be used normally in accordance with the steps we have suggested."

So please obey the operating rules and send your ID. Alternatively, you can mail the boss :

norman@sanwhole.com

Sawhole (misspelling?) has one of the worst registration/activation processes ever. Now this ID thing? That's not going to happen. And for software that looks antiquated by even XP standards?

Reply   |   Comment by KellySue  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Judging from the many negative clicks my comment attracted, compared to the many positive clicks generated by Softuser's comment I was replying to, it seems that many people here cannot understand a tongue-in-cheek remark.

Either that, or the software publisher is busy spamming this site. Or some bored people simply have too many time on their hands.

Not that I care in the least (and obviously I stand behind my comment), but just in case this clears a misunderstanding for some readers : I wasn't suggesting that Softuser really send his photo ID, just the opposite. I was approving his comment by means of a quotation copied from the publisher's site.

This, and the whole surrounding text which I linked to, shows for a fact, in my opinion, that Sanwhole is not a legitimate software publisher. Just a bizarre individual masquerading as one, not knowing what he's doing. He certainly should not be trusted with ordinary personal information that people usually surrender to software vendors, let alone such extraordinary requests as asking for a photo ID.

Always check the vendors website before commiting to a download, even if it's free. Many publishers advertising here are legitimate, but we do see some dodgy outfits from time to time. Judging from experience, anything Chinese has to be double-checked.

Clairvaux,

I was just thinking... you could of course employ the same technique used by many of these Chinese software developers to obtain customer photos for the "testimonials" on their websites: simply download a random image from the internet and submit that as your "photo ID."

I actually had a really good laugh a few months back when I discovered a so-called "customer" photo on the GOTD dev's website was in fact a picture of a notorious Turkish rapist.
