Tipard.
Which user name ?
In readme.txt file there isn't any user name. The program request an e-mail as a user name for registration, except the key

Downloaded, unzipped, installed using setup; activated but have no idea where it is on my computer. Windows 10. Nothing on search in folders or files apart from the download zip and the extracted folder. Help.

Angie,
As I mentioned in my original post there is no Tipard folder. I've checked my AVG virus vault and my windows firewall. No evidence of any block.
The setup ran (with and without Admin rights) and then the popup that told me it was activated and to register with the shown number. Closed the box but no program. Happened to me before about a month ago on another GOTD program. Never did finfd that one either.

Vaughan Pitman, same thing happened to me the other day with DoYourData Recovery, Win10, tried 5 or 6 times, same thing happened each time, never found an actual program folder or executable file!

THANKYOU THANK YOU THANKYOU!!! I have a ZTE Blade L3, which is a cheap, not widely known, smartphone. I couldn't find any decent software to get into the phone from my pc, now I do. Tipard have also given the option to ROOT the phone from their website. Now I can get rid of the GOOGLE rubbish that comes pre installed on Lollipop that cant be removed from the phone's software. This is so nice and easy to use. I am really impressed. KEEP IT UP TIPARD

The program installs "Towelroot" on your device once usb debugging is succeeded.
Unfortunately Towelroot only supports android 2.2 up to 4.4 (so not beyond Android KitKat°.
Towelroot is a small but very powerful and uses an exploit in Android -so your antivirus (for instance Lookout) will trigger an alarm. ;)

In case your cell is already rooted before this recovery programs works like charm.

Right. Simple test; I'm gonna download this and then run it on a Leagoo Lead 3 (£50 quid from Amazon - I smashed the screen a few months ago) ... and we'll see what happens.

I'm frankly sceptical. I have downloaded various android-related software from GAOTD over the past few months and none of them have worked in any meaningful way. It has always seemed easier and more useful to just mount the phone as USB storage and hammer it with a recovery program (such as Piriform's Recuva).... I have several data recovery programs from GAOTD, unfortunately? It's rare that I need to try them on the same day as the download - I have multiple back-ups of anything important.

Still. I'm going to give this a go and see what happens. Results will be posted as an answer to my own comment.

Update.
For this to work, assuming that it does? It makes sheds loads of changes to your registry (undo-able)and wants you to download some pretty shifty-looking software.
The EULA is pretty obvious: in exchange for a piece of software that doesn't really work? You agree to some very strange data harvesting stuff.

Not very good, in my opinion.

I stand by my earlier statement. If you want to recover stuff from a phone? Mount it as a USB then use recovery software. this is a thumbs down because it's bollocks.

Keya23, Would you care to expand on the "very strange data harvesting stuff"?

JamezK,

Yes ... just read the license agreement.

Keya23, program makes "undo-able changes to your registry"(?); "mount it as an USB then use recovery software"(Why did'nt ?). In the EULA "you agree to some very strange data harvesting stuff"(?)

SO, no, program does not make undo-able changes to your registry, running recovery software mounting it as an USB drive won't get your data back, and no, there is no strange harvesting stuff in the EULA. Deep sigh.... And no, I am not an affiliate of Tipard.

Really works!I use it to restore one deleted picture from my S6, it really find the missing photo and get it back.

Richardbrown, Great, it worked for you - recovering a picture. I ran it to see for my self, if it really was possible to restore messages - as described above. Unfortunately that task failed big time.

Installed at Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. The smartphone, I tried to restore from, is a Huawei Ascend 7 running Lollipop. However, it did find lots of deleted pics.

Installed and registered without problems on my Dell comuputer of Windows 10. I just use it to recover HTC M9 photos that I deleted three days ago.
Recommend it.
