I Dled installed, asked for urgent update, did that it installed some programs which Kaspersky caught 2 trojans.
If you wish to try DO NOT DO THE UPDATE! Usually...GOTD is SAFE! Karish Doctor caught another program trying to install.

Total BS. An Eval copy that does little more than what the totally free audacity does, and tries to sneak on other spy software as well.

It would seem you get what you pay for - though paying for this would be stupid. As would be installing it. Time for a yelp.

From the comments I'm glad I read them - it reminds me of the Criminal Cool Pro scam.....I bought two versions years ago, it worked fine and did "good stuff".....then a jerk company apparently bought them out and a tiny disaster (crash) it no longer worked.....Reinstalled it.....and now I have a dud that I can re-register as who knows dates, etc. of years ago......to get it re-registered 15 years later.....
Appears this would be similar issue "IF" I didn't cancel this download....oh well.....pretty tricky

What I meant was "CAN'T RE-REGISTER"......like in "talking to the wall support" and of course I wouldn't ever mention the "new owner" like for instance Adobe.......or that they are a real "Pain" using many of their programs.......sure wish I had "other choices" so I could eliminate the "word".

This program is a blunder, I'll stick to Audacity without hesitation.
Still, on top of this page under "User Ratings" we have, so far, 72% thumbs UP and 41% thumbs DOWN, which leads to the misunderstanding that 72% of consumers here consider this software good. Far from the truth!
What we have here is 72% of the opinions agreeing with those that checked it out and consider this offer today a pure conniving software. Super EZ Media should really apologize to the GAOTD community worldwide.

Oh one last point... In the installation directory the starburn.dll which is a free disc burning framework is ancient and obsoleted! It is a pre-vista version!
"Starburn CD/DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD Burning, Grabbing and Mastering Toolkit for Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003" also an XP version of gdiplus.dll is in there too!

considering how old and re-branded this is I'd have thought all the bugs would have been ironed out long time ago... the text to speech function throws a "File Access Error" no matter what settings I use. I suspect there are no program developers just GUI rebranding developers! Too buggy and limited to deserve a place on my computer, I think I'll also get rid of the other version of this, cool record edit pro as that has never been used since initial unimpressive experience on installation... just decided to try CREP version of this text to speech and its functional GUI was identical except CREP succeeded to generate the old Microsoft Anna sound file... Looks like SuperEZMedia Co have broken the product in their re-branding and juggling of the GUI.

I should slap myself for not reading the comments before downloading this. When you are finally ready to put in the key they tell you that it's an "evaluation" copy and that everything works EXCEPT you can't save anything. So what the hell good is that? I'm going to edit a piece of music or record an original and then watch it disappear? In addition, you can't simply put in the key and your name, you have to choose either:

"Please purchase to active (sic) the full version" - "Buy Now" button
OR
"After purchase, enter registration code for full version" - "Enter Key" button

The only way this could possibly be of use is to see if you like the program and quite frankly the price is way too high.

Tried the program with a group of mp3 music files. I wanted to adjust the volume levels, so I did a batch nomalize -- "Adjusts volume to an optimal (normal) level". When testing, almost all the files now had a couple seconds of either noise or a repeat of the last couple seconds of the song at the very end.

I also get and "urgent update" to fix (something?) When I finally tried it, not sure if it would work on the giveaway, it had a couple "extra traps" in the process to get me to add other software.

GOTD users beware! This program attempts to install the spyware Relevant Knowledge. READ their EULA, which says, in part:

"The information which is monitored and collected includes internet usage information, basic demographic information, certain hardware, software, computer configuration and application usage information about the computer on which you install RelevantKnowledge. We may use the information that we monitor, such as name and address, to better understand your household demographics...."

CJ Cotter, great catch. Thanks. Doesn't speak well for GAOTD for not catching this first.

Reply   |   Comment by Squire  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+13)

CJ Cotter, Good catch but I believe that is old obsolete text, not relevent to the GAOTD installer and not relevent to the currently available downloader that SuperEZ Media Co use which seems to be a variation on the theme of opencandy downloader. I saw no hint of RK with any of the downloads today.

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

CJ Cotter, exactly - your info is in relation with a pop-up of my my security suite "Monitor.Win32.RK.mr" inside the installer

Reply   |   Comment by Bobby  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

CJ Cotter,
Well spotted ... I haven't downloaded this as didn't see the point with all the restrictions, but did the developer offer the option to have Relevant installed or does it just install? The trouble with GOTD is that the people behind it seem to thing that all their subscribers have had a lobotomy or are just too stupid to notice these things. I've said it before and I'll say it again and again and ..... GOTD isn't what it used to be. These days its either problems with the installation/registration or outdated software with too many restrictions to make it worth bothering about. Developers that resort to underhanded tricks do themselves no favors because we the punters aren't as stupid as they seem to think we are .... As for the asking price they have got to be taking the mick .... Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and find it's 2nd April. I generally check out GOTD every day but of late haven't bothered so much, I hate constant disappointment.

CJ Cotter,
Had a look at the setup program again and in particular the software license, could find absolutely no mention of RelevantKnowledge.
Could find no mention of it in my uninstaller program.
So I'm absolutely at a loss as to where your information came from.
If I am correct how in God's name did you get so many yes votes did nobody check your result.LOL

Looked at it and saw just how old it is. Then I saw the price. No thanks. I'll stick to 'Cool Record Edit Pro' which I've been using ever since I gave up on Audacity which I had a lot of problems editing with, and I was a TV editor at one time. 'CREP' is under $30 and is superb.

Why is this called version 12.2 yet the version available for download that this key unlocks too is only version 7.8.2 please note their websites downloader uses a custom downloader that makes offers for third party programs before downloading the actual setup program and that setup program also tries to access the internet prior to proceding AND this installs an updater with it called goup.exe that runs on first execute that should be disabled or deleted to avoid losing the Giveaway license unless told otherwise by the vendor or GAOTD team! On their sites versions run of goup.exe I let it perform the update it wanted to do and rather than updating to a NEW version it updated from 7.8.2 to 7.8.1!!!! Needless to say I re-installed the original and won't be trusting goup.exe again!

Just installed the giveaway version 12.2.5 it is a much better behaved installer, no 3rd party offers and it permits customising the install and start menu folders so can co-exist with the official version from their website.

Appart from the version number reported in the version window and title bar I don't see any visual differences between 7.8.2 and 12.2.5 offered here the effects are the same too. This apears to be a single track editior with CD burner, ripper and eraser bundled with a text to speech tool but it uses a very old text to speech API so no modern high quality voices... It also does not apear to handle .mp4 .m4a audio format either. the main executable is unsigned but the ancillary CD utility executables are digitally signed as Tsingsoft Imagination Information Technology Co., Ltd. on 28 May 2011 so I guess those were bought in back then an have been untouched since.

TK, You are correct, the same software has circulated around for long time, example in 2008 was called sound editor pro and was given away for free on many web sites and if you look under the hood with HEX editor, they are all the same except for the menu buttons reshuffled around.

DLed and went to try. Looked like had good possibilities and options.

Sample rate????? How do I know what to selected from the 20 on list?.

after several reviews of tutorial on how to record from online source
got FILE ERROR when hit record

attempt 1: did see led bars go up -- but just a few bars as played.
Suggestion is to have a mid level, Speaker volume was set to 52 on laptop.
at 100 got up to 1/3rd of way

no indication that recorded anything

try 2, hit record, music not playing. X File Access Error
try 3, play on source, record button on SuperEZ, another red access error

Why is default folder NOT valid?

or why would it like to go to
C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\SuperEZ Wave Editor Pro\

Who would find there?

No settings to turn off automatic updates (and so loose GAOTD license)

attempt 4-8 no indication that recording. No waves on screen, Save and Save AS greyed out

SuperEZ - nope!
pro ??? I couldn't tell

had others in past (wish could remember) where one button to record, automatically saved.

A pretty comprehensive sound editing program that can import CD tracks and also burn them, it can also do text-to-speech.
Batch conversion is another of its functions.
It can also connect to your stereo system according to the help file.

A nice clean easy to use interface that is easy on the eye and easy-to-use.

However, it does nothing to justify such a ridiculous price and it makes me wonder which cuckoo land the developers live in.

It would be a decent $20 program, even then it would have difficulties as it is competing against Audacity which is free.
It is also competing against Gold Wave which is $49.

The only sound editing I do is very simple as I have no interest in music and so for me this program is more than sufficient for my needs.

I will be keeping it because I like the interface and ease-of-use.

Now if it was able to do non-destructive effects where it only processed the effects on rendering and had an effects chain that always left the master track(s) untouched then it might be worth the price tag assuming it did everything else too but under a SuperEZ brand name I suspect that will be beyond it. I'll stick with Audacity and Cubase and a couple of others that do certain things exceptionally well and do not overly focus on EZness.

This has (at least) one nice thing over Audacity - it can very easily switch between waveform and spectral view. And, I like its spectral view better than Audacity. I'm not sure which you would find more useful for editing. The spectral view here is the way I think it should be. You can do normal editing in that view (cuts, levels) but this does not do "Spectral Editing". Audacity does, some, but in a primitive and difficult way. That is a newer style of detailed sound editing and there are commercial programs to do "Spectral Editing" well or at least better. If you don't even know what this is, don't even worry about it.

This has two Noise Reduction presets: "Cassette" and "Voice Breath", plus a different style of manually set noise reduction than Audacity.

So this one has its uses. For programs of our price here on GOTD, this one can be easier and faster to do certain things. I've had it since its last time here, and it is a keeper even though I have other audio programs.

This is taking about from one who has spent a good deal of time in recording studios, and have used programs from ProTools, to Sony Acid, to Audacity (there are times when it's an actually good program).

I downloaded it to my the program to my HP laptop.

After installing, the first thing I noticed (beyond the clunky look) was that it is an extreme uni-tasker (making me question the original price tag). It will record a file, but only a single pass... there is no multitrack recording or editing.

The effects are slightly better than Audacity, but again... slightly, and there are not as wide a range of effects. The noise reduction is can be overzealous (my first check on a noisy file, using the program's preset quite literally eliminated nearly the whole file)... All of the effects need to be used with great restraint (not a horrible fault, since that's standard practice... but in this case, you do not want to go in and just hit "reverb" without really listening to the preview or you are in the bottom of a pit).

It does save the files in WAV, as well as MP3, OGG and WMA... making it decent if your whole purpose is change formats from one audio type to another.

But that's the whole purpose of using it.

A $1.59 program, raised to a 159 price, given for free...

I've got enough audio editors... I don't see this one clunking up my system long.

Recycling products for obvious reasons is a global trend.

Recycling software perhaps a by-product of the same line of thoughts (make money whilst you can?).

Anyway, based on the questions of price and what advantage over audacity I picked up a few threads indicating the possibility of today's offer having something to do with the then well-kown Gold Wave Editor.
