Here at GOTD, we get some free software to explore, and vendors get feedback, here's my hands-on feedback - SoftOrbits, if you are listening?

I find SoftSkin Photo Makeup 4.0 to be a computer program probably for people who have experience putting on makeup in the real-world of cosmetology.

I can imagine an experienced real-life MAKEUP ARTIST who no longer has their model live in front of them, but needs to apply makeup after the fact, after the picture is taken, and the model is gone.

Unlike competition like Portrait Professional, this has no face recognition, no auto tuning, no face parts recognition no artificial intelligence.

I just dove into the makeup kit, found all the colors and brushes and whatnot, and started dabbing stuff on someone's face.

I can schmear red lipstick on anyone's face before or after taking their picture, but this can't even drop lipstick into a recognized area of lips, because this has no lip boundary recognition.

It's a non-automated tool for experienced makeup artists, cosmetologists.

As others suggest, the skin softening wrinkle and blemish removal effect is a nice benefit, but tedious and without precise iterative control, and completely manual.

So, SoftOrbits, add some AI artificial intelligence.

SoftOrbits SoftSkin Photo Makeup 4.0 is definitely a computer program for people who have experience putting on makeup in the real-world.

I can imagine an experienced real-life MAKEUP ARTIST who no longer has their model live in front of them, but needs to apply makeup after the fact, after the picture is taken, and the model is gone.

Unlike Portrait Professional, this has no face recognition, no auto tuning, no face parts recognition.

You just dive into the makeup kit, find all the colors and brushes and whatnot ( hey, I'm a guy ), and start dabbing stuff on on someone's face.

Yeah ... no.

I can schmear red lipstick on anyone's face before or after taking their picture, this can't even drop lipstick into a recognized area of lips, because this has no face recognition, no auto tuning, no face parts recognition.

For me, I'd use this as a "Clown Face Design Kit", but again, not even that, because this has no "designs" of it's own, so I'd just pick any brush size, color, and density, and schmear away!

It's a non-automated tool for experienced makeup artists, cosmetologists.

Lots of comments but no comments on using this program so far.

The smoothing of the skin seems to be the programs best feature.
It does take a while to get use to the tools and how best to use them as you can make a persons face look horrible if not using the tools correctly.
There seems to be no tools for the persons hair.
I tried this on my passport photo as most pass port photos don't look good and it did a reasonable job to improve it.

In response to [Brian ], "... I tried this on my passport photo as most pass port photos don't look good and it did a reasonable job to improve it ..."

You mean YOU did a reasonable job, using this tool ... because this tool, SoftOrbits SoftSkin Photo Makeup 4.0 has NO automatic capabilities whatsoever.

Right?

Seems like the Undo feature isn't working properly. Undos only once, but menu item is still enabled.
Average software.

Tried another email address and it came right through so I'm not sure what the problem is with my primary email address.

I had no problem at all on downloading the program or getting the softorbit registration process. I haven't tried the software yet, but it should be easy to use.

Works without issues every time. To the person with issues, it sounds like you have some runtimes out of date or that are not compatible with this version I would make sure all of your .NET and other install things of that nature are up to date. I have been using SoftOrbits stuff for some time now without issues or registration problems. I use IOBITS Driver Update Pro to make sure all my runtimes are current.

Once again I can't seem to receive the email that allows me to register. GOTD needs to come up with a different methodology to complete this process even if the software company objects. After all it's GOTD's site. I never did get the email from several days ago for another program I wanted to try. And yes, I do check my spam and others folders to ensure it wasn't delivered to an incorrect email folder.

Itsjustme,

I believe that it's your email service's spam filters at fault. GOTD does send the emails, but once they're sent they have no control over their delivery. FWIW I have one email address that will receive most GOTD emails, but a few months back started blocking their emails with the download links to the GOTD offer. Started using another email address with another service & all is fine.

Itsjustme,
GAOTD have explained that sometimes they block your email because on one occasion you pressed the wrong button. It hasn't happened to me, and I do not quite understand it, but perhaps someone who remembers and understood it can explain.

Mike,

No it's not being caused by my spam filters. As I stated in my initial comment, I checked all of my folders including spam, junk, etc. and it wasn't in there either. This happened in the past and GAOTD said it was caused because I unsubscribed from their newsletter and that also blocked their system from sending the links to me that are required by some of their offerings. GAOTD unblocked my email and I have carefully avoided unsubscribing since that point so I have no idea what's causing the situation to occur again.

Gerdoo57,

Since it says: "The operation timed out", my guess would be that something's preventing the app from contacting the necessary SoftOrbit server(s). Could be your security software, firewall, or possibly the DNS server that you're using.

Gerdoo57, I have the same error message. When I (temporarily) disable my Firewall, installation is working fine.
