    I used to use below freeware;

PDFTK (Both Windows program and command line)
    https://www.pdflabs.com/tools/pdftk-server/

PDFTKBuilder (another GUI of the above program)
    http://angusj.com/pdftkb/

In fact there are lots of freeware you can find, as most of them are using a great freeware called GHOSTSCRIPT.

My suggestion for the improvement of this product is to use supported development technolgies and not unsupported technolgies like Visual Basic 6.0 which is pre 21st century tech and the unsupported gdpicturepro 5 activex controls and 1.16.08 activex servers from 2011 and no longer supported CodeJock ActiveX controls 11.2..1.1 from 2007...

Also do your splitting and merging losslessly not repacking the PDF content to either low / med / high arbitary quality levels you currently use.

Of course this would likely require you to program the processing code yourselves rather than buying in ancient libraries to do the work for you.

Apparently, there is no drag & drop function, which is a drag. Also, on their homepage, there are screenshots all of which each open in a separate window and you cannot move forward, you have to individually close each opened up page and select another screenshot and then close that one and and and. This is kindergarten level programming and does not instill much trust in their coding ability.

Thank you for the giveaway. The pdf preview cannot stay open while making changes to the settings at the same time such as adding the pages to delete. That makes the function not work as well since you either have to write down all the pages first viewing the preview then close the preview, or close the preview, add the page, then open the preview again but it starts back on page 1 rather than where you left off. Another program called pdf page delete has the pages listed on the left and the pdf preview of the page on the right for each page which was more usable but not free, this just for feedback to improve. This also has a basic merge capability to merge pdf documents together and in what order to combine, but lacks any more advanced features such as picking pages from each and combining in a certain order.

Apparently there is no option to use the software from the command line.

Ray, quite right this is very simplistic GUI on top of several 3rd party libraries and activex controls. Apparently https://www.pdflabs.com/tools/pdftk-the-pdf-toolkit/ offers command line control in both the free and the pro variants.

Ray, even better pure command line PDF manipulation tools for non-commercial purposes for free or paid for commercial use: https://github.com/coherentgraphics/cpdf-binaries

Did a quick merge test with disimilar PDF files and worked rapidly with NO dependencies, no install requirements just the single executable. That's what you get when a programmer actually programs the product and not just a GUI inside 3rd party frameworks using other 3rd party PDF processing libraries and activex controls.

why download when you can get an online program that does the same? There are many, including some that split, rearrange and merge at no cost.

pm, I do not want my docments going to a third party server and then becoming their property or having the risk of their server being hacked and my documents becoming public. I only use programs that function on my pc

pm, In addition, this program also capable of processing password-protected PDF documents. There are also options for settings the password, title, author, creator, and subject values for the split or merged PDF files: ENCRYPTED PDF Files. You DON'T NEED TO GO ONLINE WITH THE RISK OF YOUR DOCUMENT BEING SEEN MY PRYING EYES! BEWARE OF THE HACKERS! THAT'S WHY!

pm, privacy as in not having to share your PDF content with any 3rd party just to split or merge them. I'm sure there are free desktop programs that do the same too.

pm, Because you may be worried about sending private information to a website that may steal bank details etc.
Also you may be working somewhere without internet.

pm, I guess I'm just an old, paranoid curmudgeon but I simply refuse to submit my documents to some online program if I have an option to do it locally.

Yes I don't give a rat's behind if I'm working on bowling league data but if I need to split and paste parts of a payroll report it just ain't gonna happen. Guess I'm saying that I never want to think whether or not things are safe before doing it. PDF handling is important to me so I just paid full boat for Acrobat but if it was for a casual need I'd certainly entertain this or something else from GAOTD.

Thanks about the GOTD Offer! :)

    It install's on Win 10 x64 & works good! :)

However, it would be great to have the created output folders, all separated named and ? (date & time tagged or whatever) each split.

No it isn't, all the split'd PDF files get saved in one folder, every time. While it should have being Split Page by Page (or, SPP Date & Time) and the next, a.s.o.

PS: Have a happy work week & weekend! :)
