Hi Radek,

The period of use has been extended to 2050.

But, in the program, it will come out until 01/01/1970.

This can be ignored.

I did not got any answer yesterday, but found out:
Installed this program again in Win10 and needed a new serial; that went easy.
About:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ya7fkbtlya9w166/2About.png
Yesterday I did not read some text, today I enlarge some columns:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/l0z6jo1a2g7mb9f/2Action.png
Selected some file, chose action and Applied:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rd7gkmqf2ae5c8u/2Apply.png
And left the program and in Win10 all worked as promised. one file was not seen, the other was not to be altered.
BUT
I started in the same Win10 with the GOTD-program a virtual WinXP and gave that WinXP access to the stick and there the txt-file could be altered:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rhv8ji1ptu7es8j/2VirtXP.png
Also the file, that not had to bee seen, was altered:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yfx4bf6mzcifsae/2NottoBeSeen.png
After closing Virtual WinXP the Win10-explorer did the normal thing according to the GOTD-program, one not to be seen. But the TXT was altered:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pwcbhbufrwxvpqe/2BackinWin10.png
And then I plugged the USB-stick in a different machine Win7 and altered the name of a file. After return, this file, not to be seen, was visible:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/e1ws6nngpu5l5ai/2BackinWin10-2.png
I looks like that the program will work on the same Windows without extra handling.
BUT if someone boot the PC form another medium, there a great change, that all be accessible. I did a small test.

How do I COMPLETELY uninstall and reinstall this program?

When I re-install, it asks for the activation key which I never received! Checked my spam folder and everything else.

As I reinstall after uninstalling the program - the same issue!

Just wondering what was it that I did not do it right - so now I cannot install this wonderful program on my laptop!

Thanks.

Hi Praful,

You dont need to uninstall...

1. During installation.
the window that request verification key is displayed.
** verification key will be sent your email that registered to application.
** Verification key format is xxx-xxx

2. After Verification,
You will encounter window that request License Key.
(License Key format is xxxxx-xxxxx)
This License Key is sent from GOTD.
But, If you dont get License Key, I will send it to you.
(Please tell me your email, then I will send License key to you)

Well, according to customer support adding 40 years to your license will end in 12-31-1969

"Due to the increased usage period from 1 year to 40 years in the morning, the expiration date is displayed as 01/01/1970."

so if we are in 2019 + 40 years it should be 2059. But if you trust your data to a team that does not know how to add, the risk is all yours

Reply   |   Comment by David Sanchez  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Hi David Sanchez,

This is because Maria DB's Unix_TimeStamp() to calculate UTC time on the server only supports up to 01/19/2038.
So, expire date will be displayed as 01/01/1970.

We will correct it to display the normal date as soon as possible.
There is no problem in use.

Thanks

The license period has now been changed to 40 years instead of 1 year.

So you can use it until 2059.

If you have already installed the program,

When you run the following program, you can see that the period of use has been changed to 2059.

If you follow the text file it is easy to setup, but you must follow the directions and it works fine. My only thing is that it says lifetime license and the software says expiration date is 5-22-2020. Then it has the question do you want to extend your product license? Is there something I missed that changes it from 1 year to lifetime? If there is please let me know. If it is only 1 year and not lifetime please let me know I don't install subscription software on my computer with the exception of 2 things, VPN and anti-virus anti-malware suite with anti-ransom protection. Anyother software you can always find something close to it that is lifetime, not yearly.

xSecuritas, I just tested your SSL ecomerce server and you are still allowing TLS 1.0 SSL connections to it when performing transactions of private financial data like payment cards and names and addresses.

https://www.xsecuritas.com/checkout/

The rest of the industry has depretiated the use of TLS 1.0 and 1.1 demanding browsers use TLS 1.2 since earlier versions of TLS have been long proven to be too easily hacked.

It is fine to allow access to the general website pages in TLS 1.0 SSL as it permits maximum accesability for all users including those using old browsers like IE 9 or earlier or Android 4.x default internet browsers but the checkout servers should be on a different subdomain and negotiate a minimum of TLS 1.2 and if a TLS 1.0 connection is attempted either fail or have a back end script direct the end user to change to a more modern browser that supports current TLS 1.2 specification for everyones security! You are a security savy organisation aren't you?

Hi TK,

Yes. 40 year license does not mean Lifetime license..
However, since the current product had only one year and two year license, I had to set a period of 40 years. (because, already my application is distributed)

Later, when we upgrade application, we will add a lifetime license.

If the program changes, it can be updated automatically.

The verification key is 2 groups of 3 characters.

Sean Bryan, the registration and activation process on this giveaway is laborious and has many points of potential failure some of which have failed at least once today! Many will rightly say "Is this work and wait times invloved even worth it for a valuable established piece of software like photoshop or MS Office... ?

Participating in this giveaway is a gamble on far too many levels in my professional and personal opinion. I have downloaded and looked at the installer scritpt and files installed before formulating any opinions here.

How does this program work?
Made an test-account and update it with the code of GOTD:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/w4vfmzrvy8hbt3w/Stap-5.png
Restarted the program, add some files of a USB to the program. After adding to them to the GOTD-program and use the knob Activate the preview of the images are still there: ACCESS DENIED:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kiy9imw6y07miti/Instelling.png
And the text file, I could alter it and save it with the same name:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ag1fhyfsj7d8ky6/Wijzigingen.png
Same result with files in the HD. And after a restart in another Windows all files were there for all actions, open, delete, modify .. ..

Several comments refer to a 1 year license, but the main description details uses "(LIFETIME License)" several times, although I have not seen an explanation how that matches up with the 1 year license others are referring to.

Can the developer please explain the (LIFETIME License) part and how it conflicts with the other references to a 1 year license. Thanking you in advance.

Reply   |   Comment by Gary  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

Gary, to muddy the waters even further, I am trying to install and activate the program and after inputting the serial number, it's telling me the license is good until 2019-05-22. Not a typo, that's one month from now.

There is a second stage to registration involving a verification key sent to email. Maybe once that is entered, the length of the license term changes. However, the key hasn't arrived, not even in my spam folder. I have retried a few times over a half hour or so.

Place all your documents, data from the bank on an external drive or external memory carriers. A 32 GB SDhc or Stick can hold a lot of data. Also on an external small USB. SSD.

Jack Heather,

"Place all your documents, data from the bank on an external drive or external memory carriers. A 32 GB SDhc or Stick can hold a lot of data."

And when that device fails/dies, or when a SSD suffers bit rot? The 3-2-1 standard, FWIW, is 3 backups, 2 different types of media, 1 off-site. Those backups can, & if it's sensitive info probably should be encrypted. Also FWIW, Paragon's backup software can perform an optionally encrypted disk image backup of a USB stick/drive, or encrypt the backup archive.

mike, And .... if you die, your hard disk in your PC fails, you can't do anything with that program.

In the Configure options, Files Drives, etc.. are not locked by default.

You can also turn off the "start program every time computer is started" option.

James, what happens to hidden and read only protections (assuming they are not just the filesytems hidden and read only attributes that any administrator can change) when the computer is booted into safe mode with or without networking or the machine is booted from weinpe media or linux liveCD/LiveDVD/LiveUSB media apart from the encrypted volumes that should retain unathorised inaccessabilty what about everything else? is all other protections circumnavigated? Any idea of the programming expertise and experience of the writers of the additional drivers this installs as the companys website under that name has no apparent history beyond September last year.... it is really concerning when self proclaimed security experts apear out of the myre of the depths of the internet and hide behind whois anonymity service intened to protect private individuals not corporate entities and hiding their real location using a mail drop address in USA used by at least a dozen other corporate entities most of which have foriegn agents names. The risks are a blackhat criminal hacker has decided to try monetising their craft and get people to pay them to put their code on peoples machines with ring0 rights... Or an inexperienced colledge graduate with no real world experience trying to re-develop the low level operations of a closed source operating system to somehow improve security with no real knowledge other than last decades computer security science curriculum taught in colleges. The developers need to be more open about WHO they are and what qualifies them to write stable code to manipulate the low level operations on consumers machines, have proper described development systems, design e.g. unit testing, closed alpha testing, closed beta, public beta, release candidate and finally general release. Thsi software could completely wreck a computer if programed badly and could do all sorts of damage if programmed maliciously!

Hi TK,

Thank you for your feedback.

Secure PC uses the mini filter driver to control the file system.
Therefore, if someone boot with SafeMode (Network or wothout network), We can control the file system.

However, File System cannot protected if user boot via CD or Network.
This is the limitation of this product.

hmm... do you know any way ?

xSecuritas, do I know any way to provide a secure file/folder access environment with built in encryption? and not have the same vulnerabilities that filter drivers or what are also called rootkits have in that they can easily circumvented by booting into safe mode as most if not all rootkit filter drivers are not registered as safe mode drivers too and the vulnerability of the media being accessed by a seperate operating system? yes but that's a trade secret.

I see red flags all over this one... the language used in the vendor supplied description is convoluted and looks like it was produced by a non-english speaker with a machine translation service and not a US resident that should have a rudimentary understanding of English language syntax let alone gramma. Which leads me to believe the contact address on their site of:

xSecuritas, Inc
3250 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 2008
Los Angeles CA 90010

Is likely a mailing address used by foriign businesses that want to pretend to be USA based companies.

https://www.bizapedia.com/addresses/3250-wilshire-blvd-2008-los-angeles-ca-90010.html

Says there are 12 business associated with that single address.

I'd not put any security product on my machines or my customers or family members machines with such a secretive software company and I don't advise anyone else to either.

Their domain is using a canadian privacy service what right minded corporte entity conceals their corporate identity?

The domain was only recently created September last year...

They only rent this product that provides no vendor provided ongoing service on a 1 or 2 yearly subscription basis when it should be buy once and that is it and maybe deals on upgrades if they add something useful.

run away fast!

From their website:-

"Even if you replace the PC, you can still use the secure drive."

James, just to clarify, you are talking here about paid versions, right? I mean, are you saying I could save the GOTD installer and use it on another machine two months or years from now, as long as I used the same serial number? or would I have to buy a new license to access my data?

What happens after the 1-year licence ends?
Are my protected files lost - or accessible by everyone?

I thought this program has a lifetime license according to the title above. Is that not true?

James, Wait a second. It states at the top of this page, after giving a brief description of "Secure PC" "NB: LIFETIME license." NOW WTHeck is it? A 1 year license or a Lifetime license???

Reply   |   Comment by DJ  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

I'm confused. Why are you talking about a 1-year license when the post says it comes with a lifetime license?

What would make it valuable to me would be the ability to make a "backup" of the *program*, not the unencrypted data, for the reasons PaulB states. By backup I mean portable installation. If I dropped my laptop in a lake off the grid, I would want to be able to pull out one of several USB keys on which I'd installed the program, plug it into a different machine and access my encrypted drives. Otherwise there is no way I would rely on this program.

I have no reason to think there is anything wrong with this company, but also no reason to trust them. They were set up in 2018, have a number of security apps, and zero reviews that I could find. This is software meant to protect sensitive data. Even if I was buying from a company with a 20 year track record, I would still want to know I could always access my data without having to rely on purchasing, or even downloading, anything. There are too many variables out of my control. That goes double for an unproven company.

Bebop17, Even Windows will cause you problems. There is no guarantee that a program that runs fine today will still run in 5 years or even 5 months. You would always need to keep updating the program encryption, and very likely how your data is stored (decrypt and re-encrypt), or keep a backup PC around that can still run the old program. So simply having copies of the original program is only part of the solution.

James, If one has to backup files in the secure drive to be able to access them after license expiration or machine migration and not able to transfer the giveaway license then a true backup backs up the encrypted volume but thats not useful since the backup would be just as inaccessible as the encrypted volume... so the backup would have to be "plain-text" unencrypted (by this software) backup which then means the data is no longer protected... After license expires OR if using the unlicensed trial you MUST permit the decryption of the end users previously encrypted volumes otherwise what you have done is practically made the end user ransomware their own data using your software and they only get their data back if they pay you the ransom (further license payment) unless they made some external backup before the software locked the user out of their data...

The expired unlicensed trial would be reasonable to not let it create new encrypted volumes or add to existing encrypted volumes but ALWAYS should allow decryption of pre-existing encrypted volumes data provided the end user knows the key or passphrase used to encrypt / decrypt the volume.

James , come on you are supposedly security experts! encryption accessibility does NOT negate the need for a proper backup regime! Whether data is encrypted or not if it has any importance it should be backed up in at least 3 differnt locations, both electrically differnt as well as physically differnt locations.
Any security software that encrypts data should integrate some type of encrypted backup system to securely backup the encrypted data in multiple locations just like normal best practice backup systems do. Think about it if it warrants encryption to prevent unathorised access and editing then it should be even more essential to backup the data with at least the same level of encryption if not stronger level since the backup will be only accessed infrequently so can afford to use stronger slower ciphers to make brute forcing of backup archives which could go unoticed since the infrequency of access would make it less likely an intrusion would be detected than with a live encrypted volumes block cipher.

James, if what you say is true... all a person has to do to expose hidden and read only restrictions is set the systems date to after the license expires and pooft all the rootkit protected hidden folders come back into view and all the read only files are suddenly writable....

I guess that is yet another reason why the expiring license model for this product is plain stupid from a security aspect alone. Also on a non-expiring license all an attacker has to do is discover how to invalidate the license in registry or some other setting maybe even by deactivating windows license if the programs license is tied to the windows key in some way.. and then hidden folders are accessible and read only files writable again and the legit user can no longer access their encrypted volumes... someone has yet to seriously think this program through ...

Hi TK,

I think that you're specialist of security.

Yes. You are right.

In my program, access control of file system is controlled by using mini filter driver.

But Someone can invalidate a policy using a Registry attack, but this will be solved later by using Registry security.

However, there is no way for a rootkit attack yet.
The best way to do this is to control user privileges so that the Rootkit itself is not installed.
But, this can make users uncomfortable, so I hesitate to apply it.

xSecuritas, I used the term rootkit as that is what you are using and call the mini filter driver since your drivers running in ring0 between certain other drivers get to control what is seen and what is allowed while they are in place. I was not talking about 3rd party use of similar rootkit technology for their own nefarious purposes. And no I am not a security specialist... just an experienced network technician and all round trouble shooter. And reasonably observant when it comes to spotting tricks and holes in systems operational integrity. Like companies hiding behind private users whois anonymisers...

Hi. HK

Yesterday, Mail Server was not able to service because of the sending limit (500 sending / day).
In addition, there were problems with the license period, which caused many users inconvenience.

I think you have a wealth of experience with security.
Maybe you need a lot of help.
May I occasionally contact you?
