Love this program Have used it for a long time. A good improvement though would be an automated backup scheduler as there is with regular incremental backup software. Backing up software is definitely critical, and rule 1 in pc work in my book, but without the licenses/keys, it is essentially a waste if you cannot run them after recovery. ANYONE that does not think that they will never have a crash that is going to require a recovery is living in a house of straw! Backup, backup, and backup the backup!

So, the time has come for Recover Keys 9.0.3

I am a frequent visitor to this site, and I really don't like the more recent marketing approach which has become extremely Facebook reliant.
Memo to GOTD - Facebook is a corporate surveillance operation that leaves a negative impression with growing numbers of people.

I have this program in version 8.0.3 and now I hope to win one of Your 50 licences to get the latest version of Recovery Keys.

I already subscribe to the emails, and I enjoy learning about the various useful software available. But this is not a video game quest, so don't make us complete **tasks** for the chance to possibly win something. If you're going to offer free promotions that's great. Or if you want to have a drawing for a limited number of freebies, that's reasonable -- you can't expect a publisher to give away an unlimited number of full packages. But make it a fair drawing with one entry per, without having to accomplish this, that or some other irritating action. That's ugly marketing.

Just send a copy to me, I already won!

Why is anyone upset at today's offerings, the FREE ones as well as this *excellent* Recover Keys raffle-offering? GOTD's email clearly indicates what is being offered for free today and what is not.
Where is it written that ANYone is OBLIGATED to give us Anything.... ever?? I never understood the childish attitude of many folks all over the Internet who seem to believe that they are ENTITLED to software for free, as though it somehow magically comes into existence by itself, costing no one time, intelligence, learning and study, money... not to mention, the hurt feelings caused by ungrateful users.
Here's what THIS raffle-offer looks like to me: GOTD was able to get Recover Keys' developer/publisher to participate in a giveaway ONLY for a specified number of licenses, rather than the open-ended number we are used to. They settled on the number fifty.
Their website. Their product. Their right to decide. These are, after all, COMMERCIAL enterprises, not social-service centers or soup kitchens.
We can take it or leave it. And, IMO, unless someone is acting dishonestly or in bad faith, we should do so without rancor, insult... or flaming temper tantrums worthy of a two year old.
The only thing that personally bothers me about raffles/contests like today's is that, as when being rejected by a lovely lass, I don't like losing. :(
Now, as to the Software: Nir Sofer, THE Dean of Windows Utilities (with Mark Russinovich being a close second, IMO) actually recommends Recover Keys on his website, which also offers his own free, license-key-recovery software. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html
If it is even *mentioned* on the nirsoft.com website, then, at the very least, it is eminently worthy of very serious consideration. Nir Sofer is that good!
You may also take a look at Belarc Advisor which is a security-audit tool for Windows and does some --- but not all-- of the license-key-recovery work Recover Keys does.

"Alas poor Yorick, I knew him well.
GOTD used to be to help software authors to see how to improve their product and so people could try out software and make timely comments as to it's usefulness etc the same day.
Having a 5 day entry period to (maybe) receive software is completely different from the original purpose of GOTD.
If GOTD wants to have contests, please allow us to select the choice of software (free or contest) on the opening page so we can go to the true GOTD or enter the ContestOfTheDay [Week]. No need to get more email to see which is which (I use FeedReader to see what is offered each day. But it doesn't show which is a contest.)
-------
NJAzrael71:
As to the cost of running the site. If you have some data to show that it is really necessary to have a COTD at GOTD please present it.
Also please consider that the right side of the page has ads for other (normally paid) software. I assume that GOTD is not having those offers at no charge to the software authors.
Thank you.

Downloaded and installed what turned out to be the "demo" version. Ran it but can not verify the software actually works. It did list software installed on the computer along with a "Type" column, but instead of being able to see the actual key I see an entry that contains a few numbers then states states :"hidden in demo". Since there are many ways to obtain and display software installed on a system, I can verify it does that just fine. As for the "Type" column everything I saw indicated the line was "License". I just can't verify the license keys were correct for the software unless I purchase Recover Key. If I manage to win one of the license keys I'll come back and update this entry..

FYI to GOTD but more importantly to Recover Keys............one of the steps to receive "bonus entries" is to "Share" the Recover Keys Facebook Page for the giveaway/drawing, but Facebook's security settings have prevented part of the posting from being shared according to a popup message so Recover Keys may want to check their ad or page to ensure they do not violate Facebook's terms of service.

NJAzrael71,
I had the same problem. When I tried again and didn't add anything it went fine.

This one is a drawing rather than a Giveaway. There was a true Giveaway in the daily email as well. That was the Aidfile Format Drive Recovery 3.672.
GOTD is essentially paying the bills by allowing for sponsors to run these promotions. The choice is up to everyone whether or not to take part in it. Obviously, if you enter, you have the option of opting out if you do not win a license. So you receive a few emails until you Unsubscribe. But....I do understand not wanting to receive the Spam to begin with. I just wanted to give those that are complaining a brief explanation as to what's going on considering this site does actually cost money to exist. Or did you guys and gals forge that little fact?
You want the software for free each and every day, but you fail to realize that there are costs associated with the operation of this site on top of just finding and getting these deals each and every day.
So.....if you only come to the site rather than receive the email and did not notice that there IS an actual free software today rather than just this, you should really sign up for the daily newsletter that informs you of what the giveaways are each day.

NJAzrael71,
So true! This is a pretty darn cheap way to support the people that work very hard to actually provide all that free stuff we love so much!
Plus who knows! You just might win the product!
Good luck!

This sure sounds like a program many of us can use. That being said why are they only giving away 50 keys for it. I'm not interested in doing this. I guess the days of a true give away of the day is having issues with freebies. I'm not going to jump thru hoops just to possibly get a key for this program in full.

Why install this if it is not even doing anything in the GOTD demo version? Really?? How do I even know if it works as espected?

James, if you win one! I get several offers every day from BA and all the supermarkets to enter some competition to win free flights, £500 vouchers etc. This is no better and seems to be just an attempt to obtain names and email addresses.
