could not get it to install, the only thing that installed was software informer !@!

Robert Pooley, I presume the giveaway zip bundle is including the files setup.exe and setup.gcd if so please re-read the entire included readme.txt for tips to resolve the issue you are experiencing. If all else fails try rebooting into safe mode with network support and installing again.
P.S. installing software informer is completely optional and never required for a giveaway to be installed. It is one of those value added packages that probably earns giveaway a little affiliate revenue on each installation of it. I consider it a potentially unwanted program and would never install it as it provides no functionality I would ever need and would just consume resources and probably disclose information I do not need to share.
