I'd prefer this program to collect information about my audio files and their locations. Then be able to filter certain types of recording and have sort options.

Remembered to pause the antivirus. Uggh!

Loaded up a folder of 272 individual MP3s that I hadn't categorized into Artist - Album/CD Title folders. Noticed that the "Info" and "Output Preview" fields only updated when a file was clicked on. Would be nice if they updated when scrolling with the up & down arrows.

Left the default to sort by "Artist'Title". Hit the "Start" button as with all other settings. The program runs through your list and stops at each song file that does not have all the tags filled in. I filled in/corrected the tag info on all that popped up. When all was done the program sorted out all 272 song files into Artist/CD Title folder format less than 20 seconds.

Opened up the sorted folder and did a search on "*.mp3". Moved all the ,mp3s to an empty folder where I ran The Godfather to rename them. Reran NeatMP3 Pro and was all set to pain stakingly add to my already sorted group of files.

Would be nice if it would disply the cover art with an option to add or change it.

Definitely a keeper to sort out new song downloads!

JrsyDvlInGA,

I was one of the unfortunate people that long ago, bought the lifetime upgrades to a software that tagged perfectly, it was known as MusicMatch. Then, the software was sold to yahoo, who abruptly destroyed the software then abandoned it, make me even more angry at yahoo than I already was.

Fortunately, and new, free program was born. MusicBee is my music player/tagger now, it has the same interface as MusicMatch, and as I understand it, was created by former employees of the now defunct MusicMatch. Based on the song names, it will find the correct information and allow you to retag in batches of any size you like. I do mine album by album, the safe way, but you can do your whole library if you have that much confidence, I like to play it safe.

It was the only salvation I was going to find after yahoo did their number on the lifetime software I purchased at a pretty penny during it's time. Today, yahoo won't even accept questions regarding their doomed "yahoo music" software, that pissed off a good portion of the music world when they fouled things up so badly, then dropped the software like a baby in a dumpster outside of Prom. I have not used anything yahoo since. There was a class-action lawsuit by owners of the software, but I have no idea the outcome.

This software looks like a bad choice, if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Anthony,

Agree...MusicMatch was great.

Anything Yahoo (now Verizon) touches is botched. Yahoo Groups comes and goes in accessibility.

The home page says this program is also available for Mac. Is that an option in this giveaway? Asking for a friend.

As I say occasionally, the surefire way to install GOTD files is to restart your computer in Safe Mode with Network ticked. Then browse to the setup file and proceed. This works irrespective of whether antivirus is working.

Brian Haylett,

Better to run in "shadow mode" where nothing sticks unless you want it too. Much safer to do it this way, than take a chance on a nightmare scenario that crashes your system, crippling to a point of no recovery, unless you have a recent image to go to. As always, make system images often, this is the best way to keep your computer safe. Combined with sandboxing, you almost remove any threat to your system completely. That is how I keep peace of mind when installing new software.....on that note, it is time for a new image back-up, it has been more than a month, getting lazy again.

Vlad, I have read the same often on this site.
Today the Setup is protected with Themida.
This causes often some trouble, which can be solved by pausing the anti-virus.
Just before the start of the Setup, disable the anti-virus.
Start the setup and now it can make contact with the GOTD-server for permission to install, date-check.
Then the setup will continue.
After completion, start/enable the anti-virus as soon as possible. Before testing the software.
To be safe, you can restart Windows and check if the anti-virus works and do a complete scan. (a bit much)

How would, if at all, NeatMP3 Pro 3.0, affect my iTunes files?

If the MP3 files are all moved to a common folder, that suggests it will "break" the normal paths for iTunes files?

TK, Not everyone uses iTunes or the WMP library for their music collections. Me being one of such users

Installation went easy. Started program and selected a folder with my mp3's. NeatMP3 says no files match your search. How do I change that? My mp3's won't show. And it won't let me drag them into it either.

Perryntx, go one folder higher and select the the folder you want to load.
Do not open/enter the folder with the MP3.
I had the same experience.

The program does not support local national characters, I do not recommend. He treats tags with characters as invalid. The author should know what UTF-8 is ...

spamcop, Yes, I thought it might be useful to help sort out my "International music" - Indian, Chinese, Japanese, etc. but it can't recognise anything other than Latin alphabet. Didn't even appear to do anything useful with my old Beatles songs -- I wasted a lot of time just "confirming" stuff.

Sorry, but this seems more like a big waste of time, to me, anyway.

Because of a problem, installation cannot be processed and Please close the program.
I have disabled my anitivus and antimalware softwares prior installation and the problem still exists.
Please check and advise any remedy action or solution for the problem.

hakah, did you also clear the %temp% from Windows?
Sometimes there are left-overs from previous installations. And those can distrube a new installation.
