Very little information about the program (On YouTube little, almost nothing, and the company's own profile doesn't even mention the program....and not a single video) Little information about the company (Who are they, from where?). Little of everything, and as you can see, you suspect that its operation is not adequate. I pass this time.

In my desktop I created dedicated colored folders labeled as Browsers, System Tools, Network tools, Graphics and so on. I put programs shortcuts in the folders and presto! Everything for free.

Unforunately their MSTech (60% Off) Sale - (Valid for current users only) is ONLY available to current customers, but NOT for current users of their software, such as those who have giveaway versions of their programs installed and use those programs on a regular basis.

I tried messaging them to point out that a legitimate current user of their giveaway software still constitutes being a current MSTech user (despite not being a paying customer) and so should be entitled to the 60% discount currently being offered on their software but was simply met with total silence on their end as they never responded.

If they aren't willing to allow ALL current MSTech users to purchase their software at 60% Off during their MSTech Sale then they should clearly specify that only PAYING customers can get the discount but NOT current MSTech users in general.

Drew.

Thanks to GOTD, I had the older version and loved the changes they (the developer) brought to this version, having the classic EDO windows plus adding the new app bar which helps you have access to all your categorized items at all times.
Also, its mini explorer gives you access to your files.

Nice App, definitely keeping it.

I discovered back door communications with the base. Uninstalled immediately. They collect all kind of info about the user through third parties as well like:

Also from the web site quote:
" Information You Provide to Us

It’s probably no surprise that we collect information that you provide to us directly. Here are some examples:

Basic account information: We ask for basic information from you in order to set up your account. For example, we require individuals who sign up for a WordPress.com account to provide an email address and password, along with a username or name — and that’s it. You may provide us with more information — like your address and other information you want to share — but we don’t require that information to create a WordPress.com account.
Public profile information: If you have an account with us, we collect the information that you provide for your public profile. For example, if you have a WordPress.com account, your username is part of that public profile, along with any other information you put into your public profile, like a photo or an “About Me” description. Your public profile information is just that — public — so please keep that in mind when deciding what information you would like to include.
Payment and contact information: There are various ways in which you may provide us payment information and associated contact information. For example, if you buy something from us or earn revenue through your site, we’ll collect information to process those payments and contact you. If you buy something from us — a subscription to a WordPress.com plan, a premium theme, a custom domain, some Longreads swag — or if you pay fees to a person or business through their WordPress.com site (for example via the Payments feature or the Pay with PayPal block), you’ll provide additional personal and payment information like your name, credit card information, and contact information. We also keep a record of the purchases you’ve made. If you use our Ecommerce Services (including Store on WordPress.com, WooCommerce Shipping & Tax, and WooCommerce Payments), you’ll have to create a WordPress.com account or connect an existing account and, for some Services, provide your site URL. You may also provide us with financial details to set up a payments integration, like the email address for your Stripe or PayPal account or your bank account information. Additionally, if you use WooPay to make purchases on other sites, we will store the contact information and payment information you provide to that service. And if you participate in a revenue sharing opportunity for your site, like WordAds, you’ll provide some additional information — for example, a tax ID or other identifier so we can process payments to you. "

The basic idea behind MSTech's Easy Desktop Organizer is simple enough -- create an old style, individualized Windows Start Menu, only on the desktop. You could create a Network folder in Win7's Start Menu for example, then put shortcuts to any relevant apps in that folder. By default Easy Desktop Organizer shows a bar across the top portion of the screen, showing icons for the folders that hold whatever shortcuts you want to put in them. The folders themselves can float as a sort of title bar that can be expanded downward to show the content window. The app ran but kept throwing errors in my Win7 32-bit VM, but on the whole I found it not that intuitive -- the Start Menu replacement apps I've tried were much easier to grasp how they work & how to use them IMHO. Or you can just add virtual desktops in Windows, each with the icons you want for whatever sort of task.

Easy Desktop Organizer adds the program's folder, plus 3 folders in ProgramData. It uses the Caphyon installer [an app for creating Windows Installer setup files], so there's more than plenty of new registry entries for install & uninstall, while the app itself uses just 2 keys. Easy Desktop Organizer also creates a folder wherever you choose to store the shortcuts etc. that you want available in its various organizing folders. Somewhat confusingly, when you setup the app it advises you to choose a location for that folder that's not on the same drive partition where Windows lives. It explains that's because the Windows system partition is more prone to malware attacks and, well, accidents. You're free to heed their reasoning & advice, or not.

For a great desktop organizer, you actually need only 5-6 Icons associated with the appropriate software.
Example: 1-Internet folder connected with all of your browsers, shortcuts, setups and so on. 2-Doc's folder, with all of your different word processors and actual documents. 3-Spreadshets and presentations software. 4-Photos and Videos software with all of the pictures and movies and videos. 5-Utilities, backup and restore and Miscellaneous.
If you have specialized software like d-bases and drawings that can be the number 6 folder.
That will cover the 99% of all of your needs for organizations and it is very simple to create and use.

Mike, even easier, create a main toolbar folder, organize the subfolders with shortcuts as you said and wishes and then activate the main folder in the toolbar settings. One click away, everything is there as shortcuts.

Mike, I agree. I've been using a hand full of folders for years to organize my desktop, it's easy and simple. I also use an Icon Restore program. If perchance any mishap alters my desktop, the program restores my setup in seconds.

Why would the program be listed $8 (or $20 not on sale) on their website when it states $15 here?

A WORD OF WARNING:

If any program has the potential to completely mess up your desktop, THIS IS IT !

1. The 'usual hoops' to jump through to register the program.
2. It advises NOT to install the program on your main drive, but during the installation process, that's exactly what it does do... by default.....with no option to do otherwise during installation ???
3. Even if you've coped with all of the above, it then informs you that once your desktop items have been 'moved' that you cannot reverse the process 'automatically'.....it has to be done 'manually', so if for example you have 150 items that have been 'moved'.....you wil have to 'restore' every single one 'manually'
4. Even if I were offered a '10 year licence' for this program, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
Uninstalled.

John H,
Thanks for expert advice. I am technical idiot when it comes things like this.

Reply   |   Comment by Dennis  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

What are you talking about?

1- It never says to install the software on other partitions, it says don't keep your files on the main drive (The drive on which the Windows is installed.)
2- You can change the installation path to where ever you want to install the software through the installation window.
3- The software license as I checked is a lifetime license to use the software.
4- You can refuse to auto categorize the files on your desktop.

Sorry bro, your comment means you did not read the software description at all.

John H,
1 Irrelevant
2 False. You just change the destination directory
3 So what?
4 Irrelevant.

Comments are welcome but should be fair, honest and correct.

JJVastiau, well, nothing is irrelevant, like if your OS crashes and you have to re-install the OS, everything you had under this software will be lost and you wont be able to re-install this software, therefore, RELEVANT.

Reply   |   Comment by Mike  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

Mike, It will not be lost. When you create an EDO window, the software creates a folder on your destination path (as you have selected for "My EDO Desktop") or any other custom path you like.
When your windows crash, the files, and folders will remain intact in their positions, this is why the software asks users not to keep their files on System Drive.

So this is completely irrelevant.

Mike,
1. Always have a Plan B
2. Keep an up-to-date backup on external media
3 Do a 'create Restore Point. every day

This will take care of everything.

Reply   |   Comment by Othello86  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Mike, If your OS crashes, then you restore it from your backup. You don't have a backup? Then your OS isn't important, is it. A backup takes minutes and using something like Macrium Reflect, its free. This 'crash' you mention is a non-event.
Similarly, you take a backup before installing this software. Don't like it? Restore from the backup. Additionally, you can install a test OS in a virtual hard drive. Windows supports this already - you don't even have to install anything. If this was a car, you seem to be screaming about the panic of installing new floor mats. Simply. take. out. the. mats. Life will continue.
