Icecream PDF Converter is an easy to use and universal converter that can convert PDF files both ways: convert PDF to other supported formats and convert files to PDF format. Switching between modes is proceeded in just 1 mouse click. The drag and drop mechanism simplifies the addition of the files to the program. A wide variety of input formats is supported: DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, ODT, ODS, JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, EPUB, MOBI, FB2, HTML, HTML, XPS. The files converted to PDF can be merged into a single PDF file if needed. As for the "From PDF" mode, the PDF can be converted to DOC, ODT, TXT, RTF, PNG, JPG, BMP, TIFF, GIF, HTML, EPS and WMF.

Additional layout settings are available in the program for the conversion of images of the supported formats to PDF. Also for the "To PDF" mode, you can rearrange the files in the file queue.

When converting PDF files, it is possible to select the intervals of the pages to be converted. Working with password-protected PDF files is supported (if you know valid passwords for the documents). OCR language can be selected in the "Settings" panel of the program for the better results of the conversion of the scanned PDF files to Word.

I downloaded the software' and "installed" it. However I saw no installation and nothing--however I did see a small window open and tell me that the "software" is activated!
I cannot uninstall it since it's not installed! TOO BAD!

I have tried everything I can to download this programme in it's entirety - and every time it gets to a point where it disappears. Even if I click on the download (there seems to be something there!) it will never install! It keeps saying the file is incomplete or corrupted...

So I made a massive effort to "turn off" my AV software (AVG and Kaspersky) -- but could not, because some of the buttons the tutorial mentioned don't even exist in Win10!

I finally took the advice to download from their website, and got the programme -- but there is nowhere to input the licence key, which I DID get. So all I have is the free trial programme, I suppose, as the quality is not very good.

How do I upgrade that to the PRO version offered here? I mean, I am well within the deadline, so I am "qualified" to get it -- but cannot seem to do so....

Any suggestions?

This does not work in XP
Does anyone have a link to an earlier version that will work in XP ?
Rob
PS Does the program have a command line interface ?
Such an interface allows you to call (execute) the program, whilst passing instructions such as -
Convert all PDFs in folder C:\PDFs\
Into JPGs
Placing the JPGs into folder C:\JPGs\
Similar functionality could also be provided without using the command line.
That would entail the program having some settings where, we tell it where the PDFs folder is, and where the output JPGs folder is, and the program can be told to run minimized, and keep watching the PDFs folder. Meaning every time the program sees PDFs (in the PDFs folder), it converts them into JPGs (into the JPGs folder) automatically. It would delete the PDFs after it has converted them.

My sound stopped working just after I installed the program. Nothing is muted and Device Manager shows everything is working. I've tried the Windows troubleshooter but nothing worked. Any ideas?

After 5 times of reinstalling the sound in Device Manager and restarting, it finally worked again for no apparent reason.

I love this program. I installed an earlier version the last time it was offered and use it a lot. It is very simple to use and very quick. I either use it to convert scanner PDF to DOC or my typed DOC files to PDF. It doesn't keep the formatting if a PDF document has a format style which is a downer, but for simple things it is great. I have been using it lately to scan all my recipes into my computer, convert to DOC, then format the recipe in the format style I want so each recipe has the same format page for when I print them out to put in a binder for easy use.

Attempting to change a pdf to doc resulted in only 1 of several text areas was transferred as well as no transfer of the graphic incorporated in the pdf.

Is it just mine or is the program box so tiny you need a magnifying glass to see anything? I have no problems with any other programs do I don't want to adjust my pc just so i can use this program.

I have the same problem as you just can't make out anything and it looks nothing like screenshots. Nobody else seems to have this problem either. Annoying. At least we didn't waste any money on it!

to activate:
1. Install the pgm from the GAOTD zip file downloaded
2. Copy the Serial from the read.me in the zip file
3. Start the pgm from the shortcut ("Upgrade to Pro" displayed)
4. go to setting selector at bottom of screen
5. Select Activate button at bottom
6. Copy serial where appropriate
7. "Upgrade to Pro" no longer displayed, top of screen says "PDF Convertor Pro"

This is a very nice program. I successfully Installed it on Windows 10 64 bit system without difficulty, upgrading from an earlier giveaway version of the program. The read me file included the downloaded zip file includes a registration key, but I don't see a place to enter the key in the program settings. The top of the settings menu displays "Version 2.86 Pro" which suggests the Pro version has been activated. Does this mean I don't have to worry about entering the registration key as indicated by the read me file?

Gaelle, I do not see a "Parameters" button, but I have a "Settings" one. Clicking that opens a new box, but there is no "Activate" button, "en bas" or otherwise.

Jim M, yes, it does mean that you don't have to worry about entering the key. You mentioned that you upgraded from an earlier giveaway version, as I just did. We both now have the latest version, thanks to Icecream!

There is no XLS or XLSX in the drop down list.

texastig, those formats are supported when using the "to PDF". You can convert those files to PDF, but you can't convert to those formats from PDF.

This is exactly what I have been looking for. Thanks !! :-) Installed on 64 Bit Win 7. Easy installation and activation. Make sure you briefly disable your firewall before installing because it might block the installation.
I am using the free version of Avast.

Bob McKelvy, I used to use Avast for many many years and it always gave me problems and used up more CPU than necessary. Eventually I just uninstalled it and use Windows Defender since that is just as good, then run MalwareByte's Anti-Malware every so often.

Installed OK on Win 10. License also worked. Didn't see any time limitation, but no updates of course. First I tested PDF to DOCx. Worked just fine. The other way around had problems with the graphics, but there is no real need for this anyway. So, first impression is good but obviously there is much more to test. Worth a try.

For those unable to install, in some cases you can download and install directly from the default site.
I faced this in one or another of their software, a company that had long since offered programs and all free but now only paid for full use .. good times. After just apply the registration code to work.

Reply   |   Comment by cleber baglioni silva  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

cleber baglioni silva, as an adddendum if you install over an activated previous giveaway version the current giveaway should pick up the pre-existing license details and will not request the new license codes. So don't be concerend if the giveaway does not ask you to enter the license code if it is still showing PRO in the program name.

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+17)

What is the "default site"? As a non-social-media user, I tried the email option. No link came.

Reply   |   Comment by Steve  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Steve, in this case the term "default site" referes to the vendors product home page which *should* be linked to in the giveaways information panel. BUT note you still need to get the giveaway zip bundle to obtain the giveaway license code. If you still have not received a personalised download link via the email you requested you should either or both contact giveawayoftheday.com through their contact page to request they remove your address from their never-send email block list as you may have unsubscribed from a newsletter or from unsolicted newsletter posts that are sometimes sent or from comment reply notifications all of which result in their block-list blocking all outbound emails to your address regardless of purpose. and try requesting a personalised download link using an email address you have never used in conjunction with this site before which should function...

Flissa,
I completely agree with you.
Please GOTD, make it "mandatory" that all developers state clearly how long a licence is for.

Reply   |   Comment by John H  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+29)

Flissa, going by past experience with this vendor... I have a previous giveaway version of this installed 15th August 2016 and it is still activated. Not installed todays giveaway yet but I see no indication that the vendor has declined into a trial giveaway vendor. Obviously I can garantee nothing...

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+15)

Flissa, The problem is more related to the standard wording of GAOTD (with all give-aways) - they make reference to all their give-aways as being "....free for our visitors as a time-limited offer.".

I suspect that confuses a lot of people - however the 'time-limited' doesn't refer to the software being given away, instead it refers to it only being available for free if downloaded today, i.e. there's a limit on the time it will be available for free.

The software itself will not expire, unless : (a) you update it, or (b) you reinstall Windows / wipe hard drive etc.

Louis,
Your first two paragraphs are correct.
The third is not always true, hence the confusion.

Reply   |   Comment by zen  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

Louis, today your 3rd paragraph is not true since if you had any previous giveaway of this since at least the Aug 2016 one and installed the 2.86 version direct from their website it will install over the old giveaway and re-use the old giveaways license. so to date updating a previous giveaway with any of the updates that happened in the interim would have retainied the older giveaway license and would have happily permited re-install which is probably why setup.exe/gcd was used today to try and make it less obvious that the third paragraph restrictionsdo not apply to this vendors giveaway of this product.

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-4)

zen, It's true for most giveaways - there may occasionally be some which will allow you to update without turning it into trialware, but since you will certainly void yours if it's not the case, I would rather not risk it.

I got the old version 2.62 (Oct 2016) to install and run OK on WinXP. The PRO Registration Key was accepted OK.
It won't have all the improvements of later versions though.

Reply   |   Comment by Billy  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

Billy,
I have a version of one year ago (July 2018), I do not know the number, but it works extremely well on XP.
Incidentally I find all ice-cream products very good, and they are genuine giveaways, not free trials. I will not update as I do not need to, but highly recommend anything from ice-cream, especially their e-book reader.

Reply   |   Comment by zen  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Jinglebob, errr yes I know and I agreed with the Original poster and confirmed their findings and expalined why... did you want me to restate what the OP posted about XP being supported when it's not? What I said implies the vendor knows that any windows prior to Vista is no longer supported and it was not an innocent mistake where they could possibly have thought pre-vista operating systems were still supported.

What languages are supported by OCR?

Reply   |   Comment by Boris  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+15)

Boris, this uses Tesseract 3.02 OCR engine with training data for languages DA,DE,EL,EN,ES,FR,IT,KO,NL,NO
That is how they are identified in the settings window most of which I can guess, not sure what language EL is but assume a speaker of that language would recognise the abbreviation.
