With any DVD ripper of a DVD you will always be attached to the image format of the European 720x576 pixels. In the time of the CRT TVs, that was the better quality than what those CRT TVs could show. Now that is outdated.

This giveaway is an automatically activated one. Video output could be improved, but it is what it is. The audio and subtitle limit of one each makes this only usable for certain conversions. I will have to stick to my Handbreak due to it's vast options and nearly identical conversion speed. Uninstalled, but I do appreciate the offering.

Lisa, If ... if you have made a recording of a smart flat screen (Medion for example) and it has placed it on an external SSD drive or memory stick, then TS the extension, is to do with m2ts. No PC/laptop can read that.

Hi Lisa, are these files marked with the .ts (transport stream) extension?
You should be able to play them e.g. with the VLC media Player.

Weird software. Most people want to rip commercial DVDs - just how much of the general population want to rip non-commercial DVDs? Can you even get non-commercial DVDs? And DVDs? In this world of 720p, 1080p and 4K video, who watches DVDs anymore?
The only advantage of DVDs over downloading movies 'elsewhere' is commentary tracks.

Chris, DVD ist still a thing. Maybe you want to backup a copy of a old DVD movie?
That is when such software comes in handy.
Sure, nowadays most of stuff is digitalized but still not everything.
A software that helps you achieving digital copies is as helpful as it can get.

senzai6293, also there are bunch of old videos on DVD that never made the jump to 1080p or even 2K, there is not much incentive for studios to re-produce old stuff for most companies, so you have to deal with just DVD quality. There are rare findings of old movies being re-produced in 1080p from DVD quality to squeeze some bucks out of it in a sale but as mentioned, that is very rare. Most companies don't care and ride with the old train.

Chris,
I was not previously aware of this program . . . and I try to stay well-informed on the subject.
If a program like this can't handle commercial release discs, its utility would be quite limited. Luckily, there are some effective options out there. 1) MakeMKV, which is free, and also rips Blu-Ray. 2) Digiarty / Win-X Ripper, which does DVD-only, and is offered as a giveaway here approximately a couple times a year. (Recommended, so watch for it.) & 3) the payware from DVDFab or Red Fox, although users have reported some significant issues in dealing with both companies.

TK, that might be the case but they come in a different DVD container and thus require a reformat. Sure you can just copy them as is but different players require different output formats.
