I have seen last month many apps from Dimo and ALL look exactly the same apart from the different name. Do they have any difference between them.

Never received a key code ??????
Save | Cancel
Downloaded OK. Got the License code OK w/o needing to log into Twitter or FB. Clicked on the Twitter button then just closed the Twitter logon pop-up window and the key was displayed). Clicked on the SETUP.EXE file up came the installation query box as whether to proceed or not. Clicked on the INSTALL button and NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Just a spinning blue circle that never went away. Opened up task manager, killed the install task and tried again. Same result --> NO INSTALL AND A SPINNING BLUE CIRCLE. I have a Win 7 Pro 64 bit w/SP1 desktop. FAIL!

UPDATE: This is strange. I tried to install this app one more time. Got the same spinning blue circle. Rather than close out the installer popup window, I opened another tab and went on an did other work. About 2 hours later, I finally get another popup window that the app is ready to install. I clicked on the button, the installer asked me where I wanted to install the app and I responded and the installation started and finished normally. I then started the app and entered the license key that I received earlier only to get the message: "REGISTER FAILED." Ugh. I give up.

Rip DVD disc of any kind regardless of disc protection and region code
So does this include the CINEVA audio protection. Someone please let me know.
Save | Cancel
Ed Lafferty, A DVD player doesn't "see" CINEVA as far as I can find out by a quick web search. It only see's it on a Blue Ray disc. As this offering isn't a Blueray ripper its kind of a moot point I guess.

Downloaded, Installed and Activated with no problems on my Win10x64 machine using Edge as my browser. I travel in my work so am always looking for a good DVD ripper so I can take my movies/T.V. series with me. Much easier taking a external HDD for my laptop than lugging around a bunch of DVD's.
First, the con's.
This isn't the fastest ripper/converter I've ever used. Ripped a newish DVD of Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 and it took close to 2 hours. Now, that's a 8.35 GB rip so I wasn't expecting it to be done in a couple of minutes but it took right at 2 hours as mentioned. To be fair, I did not use the "fast mode" but will here in a bit. If it significantly changes the rip time I will post back and let you know. As mentioned in post #3 it doesn't crop the black borders at all. I changed the default resolution to 1920x1080 and was expecting a full screen tbh.
Now the pros.
Image quality is very good to outstanding. Just hopped around the finished rip watching a minute or two at a time and it looked very good with no tearing , at least in the limited sections I watched. I ripped to a Ts file as that's my preferred format for watching on my laptop. I have loads of storage and care not one bit about file size. I'm re-ripping the same DVD to a MKV file now to compare, using the same settings. It appears to be going a little faster. Sound quality was excellent on the Ts rip btw. Its very easy to use with everything clearly marked. You can pick which "chapters" to rip so you don't have to sit through the previews and such. I always just rip the main movie if possible which this one lets you do. Not all are that user friendly. This has many many pre-set rip formats so I'm sure there's one for just about everyone.
My verdict: To me this is a keeper. Yeah its a little slower than some I have now or have used in the past but the picture quality and ease of use outweight that for me. Thank you to Dimo and GOTD for this very nice piece of software.

Alan, A ripper should not touch "quality" ... it's the conversion process that may do that. A rip should always be clean and equal to the source material.

Alan,
"This isn't the fastest ripper/converter I've ever used."
The actual copying of content on a video DVD, without conversion or before conversion starts, should be pretty standard, regardless the brand/model of DVD drive used, & AFAIK there's little if any way for software to effect that, so it would be DVDmate's conversion that causes such long ripping times. Turning off GPU assist might help -- depending on the converted format & graphics hardware used, there's often very little speed boost possible if/when it works, e.g. using the x264 AVC encoder, and in practice it often slows things down. Or it could be that Dimo uses higher quality encoder settings than the competition -- again using X264 as an example, there are many quality levels possible, and as you increase quality you lengthen encoding times.
"I changed the default resolution to 1920x1080 "
You might not want to bother... Your laptop probably does a better job enlarging the video to full screen on the fly, during playback than most any software could.
"I have loads of storage and care not one bit about file size."
You might not want to bother converting the DVD video then, as that's the only benefit from converting or re-encoding -- just copy it so you don't have to lug an external drive. Re-encoding causes unavoidable [generational] loss of quality, since it's a lossy process -- IOW some of the original data is always lost. The original mpg2 video also requires much less processing to play it than something like AVC, so your laptop battery's charge might last longer.

Alan, I gave you a plus useful comment as you didn't spend your entire review just discussing the installation process, but rather actually commented on how good the program was.

Alan, Well … I ripped two more copies as tests. One to a MKV file and another at the HD Ts setting. Also changed the resolution on the HD to 4096x2160. The MKV looks and sounds beautiful albeit with the same black borders as the regular rip. About 1 GB smaller too and a little faster to finish. The HDTs 4096x2160 looks and sounds great too ,same borders and about the same file size as the MKV. Much much longer to finish though.
I'll still be keeping this, at least for awhile. When WinX Platinum comes back around I'll get that again as its the best I've found so far. Will buy it this time with the discount code we get here, as I lost my last version of it due to a re-install.

what a con! You download and install it and then have to do promotions in order to get a serial code!
Avoid - I've uninstalled it - I don't mind doing this through GAOTD but to actually install the software and then have do all this just isn't good enough a giveaway for me!

Daryl, Just a fyi, you don't have to actually promote it. Just hit the button, when the box comes up to sign in and send it, x it out without sending it. The code is at the lower left.

I found the code - Note that code does not come on the email, but it is generated at the page that takes you the link inside the received email, (link that is supposed to take you to share this offer in facebook or twitter). So finally sharing is not needed if an email address is provided.

Does not crop black borders automatically. I'll stick with the free dvd video converter from DVDVideoSoft.
