The program installed and works perfectly.

My only problem is the newsletters are all German and the unsubscribe link, when I eventually figured out which it was, doesn't work. It just says something in my browser blocked it.

The "Contact us" box keeps failing.

Does anyone know how to either get the newsletters in English or unsubscribe from them completely?

Although I am an old user with a Franzis account, I did not find any mail with the activation codes, anywhere in my mail.
Sorry but I had to cancel..

How do you install the plugins?

Reply   |   Comment by Orig_Rune  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Orig_Rune, It says at the end of the installer that the installer can be used to install plugins. I didn't try but the plugins are in a folder in the archive so presumably you can just copy and paste them to your plugin folder.

My primary email at ProtonMail was invalid by their site. When I used a secondary email, I never got the code. I looked forward to trying this out, but sadly if their website is an indication then I have a feeling their software probably isn't very stable, either. To be fair, I never got the chance to test out the software. Maybe it's great.

Did not send an email to my gmail account, checked the spam folder. Sometimes these free giveaways just don't like to send the keys to certain emails.

I had to use my oldest hotmail account to get FRANZIS to send me an email. Gmail just did not want to work. Also it was in my junk folder, of course.

Is this compatible with Apple silicon (M1) as it wont seem to start the setup-Mac file?

I have been waiting endlessly for the email with the code to arrive, and yes I checked my spam folder. I even tried a different email address. No cigar. And, this is the first time I'm having real difficulties with trying install a program. What am I missing here?

Following "readme" clicked "internet" at setup box and entered e-mail address on registration page, but over 6 hours waiting and no reply from Franzis, neither in inbox, nor in spam folder. Any idea what is going wrong ?

Digital noise in photos is hard to define; can be hard to avoid, depending on the camera; can make editing more difficult, with object edges fuzzy rather than well defined; and can vary between being hardly noticeable to ruining a photo. Scanning photos can introduce noise, and you'll see a type of noise [grain] from the scanned print or negative itself.

wikipedia[.]org/wiki/Image_noise

Franzis DENOISE projects used to be pretty good as far as denoise apps/plugins go -- I bought v. 2 in 2017 & used it a Lot -- but it's become totally obsolete with the advent of denoise software using AI. It's hard to imagine how good these apps are until you use one. Where DENOISE projects might help reduce the noise in a photo, these new apps can eliminate it entirely. Adobe is working on a denoise neural filter for Photoshop, while ON1 & Topaz apps are available, and it's part of the DVDFab Photo Enhancer AI that was on GOTD in November, 2021.

Franzis giveaways normally have their own wrapper -- when you run setup it'll prompt you for an ID & serial number or key, and once you enter those it'll extract the real setup file in the user temp folder, where it can be copied and saved for future use [there are no limits on installation or use as long as you save the key]. When included, plugins may be included separately, or they may be bundled in the setup file. In the latter case, they may or may not install when it's an older version, &/or when it doesn't recognize your image editing software. A few times I've had to use Universal Extractor on the real setup file to get the plugins. Installation isn't bad but too often older versions install older versions of the Microsoft C/C++ runtimes -- I usually copy the program's folder from a VM, since it'll add the needed files in the User folder on first run, and activate just fine.

I've noted that some are having trouble getting the E-mail link for the app. As I have some of the Franzis products, and use them fairly often, I know this must be a great app that would come in handy with my Photography and Digital Art projects. Noise removal is a big problem that other apps I have don't do as easily as I am thinking this one will.

What I am saying is "I want this app!" I would like to know it won't give me trouble to download, install, and activate. I am going to try it now, but if I have trouble, I hope help is available to make it work right.

OK, I found the process a bit involved, but I did succeed with downloading, and the process of getting it installed and usable. The most time was consumed by the download. Once that was done, everything that followed to get it up and running took about a quarter of the time of downloading. A 7 minute trial impressed me, as I was expecting from a Franzis product. I chose an image I generated in PD Howler from a heightmap I generated in JSPlacement. I used PD Howler's Polar Designer tool to make the oval shaped arrangement, then I tiled it. Then I converted the heightmap into a 3D .obj (Yes PD Howler can do that, but the polygon count is usually quite high). I then created a 3D environment for the tiled model to live in, and rendered it. The image had pixelization at a less than 1600 x 1200 px. PD Howler can do denoising, but not as well or as fast and easily as this! DENOISE projects Standard is a keeper for sure!

It does not think my email is valid. I guess I will have to use my "junkmail" email address. It did send the emails to the spam folder in my "junkmail" email. I know I am not an expert when examining photos but it looks like it unfocused the photo. I can choose a selection on the left side that is focused. I will have to play with various photos to see if this is worth keeping. I can denoise this with GIMP.

Removing noise from a photo is a difficult job -- software has to figure out which pixels are noise and which ones are supposed to be there. [I think that's why AI noise removal works so well -- it identifies the objects in the photo, & knows for example a person's face isn't green] Usually in DENOISE projects you can play with the settings to make an improvement without making the photo look plastic or less sharp.

Sadly, after jumping through all the hoops required to download and install any Franzis program, I realized this is the exact same version offered right here in June of 2020. Hoping for at least an updated version, it was not to be.

As always with titles from Franzis Verlag, I'm very grateful to receive such effective/well-functioning (though older version) offers with generous "lifetime" licences.

HMarx,

(forgot to mention, as always!)

As with most other titles offered by Franzis Verlag on GOTD (likely due to being older versions), this title is apparently not high-DPI aware such that initially all menu text may appear very tiny on a high-res display, requiring changes to the "Properties" settings of any one of the launch icons/shortcuts:

using/choosing any one of the app's launch icons on either the Desktop or in the Start Menu folder, right-click on it then choose "Properties" from the drop-down context menu;

click on the "Compatibility" tab;

"Change high DPI settings" (or "Change settings for all users" and then "Change high DPI settings");

check the box "High DPI scaling override/Override high DPI scaling behavior/Scaling performed by";

choose "System" (more stable) or "System (Enhanced)" (sharper appearance, when it works);

click OK and/or Apply then OK until you exit all dialog boxes;

then relaunch the title and see if that helped restore a "normal" look.

It won't install on my mac "you do not have permission to open the application" I'm an administrator. It's an APP file which is not usual for a mac install file. I have v11.6.5 of Osx.

Loop, I have the same issue, also with Bug Sur (11.6.5). It may be a permissions issue which wasn't around when this version was written.

I tried Get Info and changing the permissions there, but no improvement.

George Opper,

Read the ReadMe file.

Reply   |   Comment by Niv  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Niv, I did and there is nothing about a serial number. It just gives a user id code and an activation code.

Reply   |   Comment by George Opper  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

George Opper,

The long "activation code" is used again as the "serial number" (per the instructions).

Reply   |   Comment by HMarx  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

George Opper,

I think the serial number and the activation number are the same thing.

The only problem I had installing it was I couldn't remember my Franzis password.

I tested it on a noisy photo and it proves to be an excellent program that really does a good job, far better than anything I've used in the past.

Another excellent Franzis program that works well. Set up is very easy if you're already registered with Franzis but slightly fiddly if you're not (but persevere - it's worth it). Make sure you follow the ReadMe instructions. My emailed registration codes ended up in my Spam folder so check there if there seems to be a delay. The email usually arrives very quickly.
