I have viewed this screen saver for several days now and compared it to other fish / ocean type styles. This is just the best that I have seen.

Too many other screen savers, free or not, of any type contain spyware so be warned before you download.

Running XP SP2 2.8 gig 1.5 gig ram with 9.0c video card 256 meg with a 22 inch Samsung. What can I say but absolutely beautiful screen saver. This is relaxation for me to watch the never ending activity.

I believe that no one can fully evaluate a developer's hard work in a day or two. Again, this is entertainment for me and relaxation - just beautiful.

This development team is at the top of my list to consider for purchasing screen savers.

I would like to see an added feature with a manager where I could select and load any screen saver including M$ OEM's.

Thanks 3DPlanesoft and GAoTD for another fine offering.

Ken

Waste of time. What's up with a "free program" that has a large banner across the aquarium and it looks so fake anyhow with just a bunch of bubbly noise. Thumbs down on this one. Deleted this within a half hour after of installation.

To all the people saying that the 3Planesoft screensaver manager installs other adware, no, it doesn't, period. As with other screensaver managers, you could characterize the manager itself as adware, because it advertises their other screensavers, but it doesn't hook into anything. Emsi Software (a-squared, etc.) is crap.

In some respects even worse than what Astro Gemini does, this 3Planesoft screensaver and some others (but not all of them) uses shortcuts which open the Windows screensaver manager and sets this to be the default, even if you don't use the 3Planesoft screensaver manager. It also calls another executable; I haven't tested to see what impact that might have on Windows power management.

Regarding my comment #6, it was clearly referring to a comment which cleared moderation but was later deleted. I notice I get a lot of thumbs-down when moderation delays or changes make it look like my comments are mean-spirited. This isn't a forum, I have no control over when comments get posted, deleted, etc., which is why I always use both the numbers and names of the comments I'm referring to. I generally don't post a follow-up to clarify things, because of the moderation delays, insertions, and deletions, and because this isn't a forum.

Installed and registered without probs here.
As far as I'm concerned, 3Planesoft makes much better and nicer screen savers than Astro Gemini, though they are somewhat similar. So let's get some more of them :)

Btw, if you look at the other screen savers in the manager, you will find that "The One Ring" (the last one) is free to download/add :)

Installed fine on my Vista 32 Home Premium. Ran overnight to find the screensaver frozen and had ton use ctrl-alt-delete to gain access back. Uninstalled and using Vista's default screensaver with no overhead on memory either!

Nice screensaver! :) Really good graphics! I think probably any reports of something suspicious in the file are simply due to the manager part of it, as it has a kinda "ad"(if ya wanna think of it that way) so you can download all the other savers they offer, within the manager.

ZoneAlarm and Windows One Care did NOT find anything wrong with this file!
Thank you GOTD & 3planesoft!

For Windows Vista users, if you have UAC enabled, you must right-click on the ACTIVATE.EXE file and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR because it makes changes to the registry. For those who don't do that, it appears that it is fine but then is why you get the "unregistered" version.

This is the same thing that needs to happen for ALL GOTD givaways.

First off, I have never been a Big fan of screensavers....well except for the one that's called blank screen.
After seeing this one I decided to install it to check it out.
Install went smoothly on my XP-Pro;SP3;OS, No Problems.
Also downloaded the freebies from 3Planesoft's website as mentioned in post #19 above.
It looks great, the sounds are soothing, there are a couple of setting controls which I really liked to see but as mentioned....there is no control of the activity that is displayed on the screen itself such as how many fish or which kind are shown but all and all I may be keeping this one instead of the blank screen which I have come accustomed to over the years.
It all depends on how things go when my schedualed tasks run during the week while the screensaver is in use.

Thanks GAOTD and 3Planesoft.

Well, I don't know what is going on, I installed in on my Vista machine and it doesn't show up in the screensaver settings. So I click the icon and it says F1 for help--doesn't work and F for FPS whatever that is. M for mute works and I wasn't interested in a screenshot. So where is the setup? I found the log file, and scrolled down and found the registration. I changed 0 to 1 and typed in GIVEAWAYOFTHEDAY in user and password. based on what someone said that it registered on Giveawayoftheday but I don't know about all caps etc. I don't know if I am registered or not, how can you tell. Maybe have to watch it longer than I have. Music, though I turned it down is still to loud above the other sounds, just like the movies. It is pretty but I am aggravated that I am unable to get back into the settings to change volume etc.

I do so get sick of people saying 'Screensavers are useless' or 'We don't like screensavers, don't offer any more!'. I, for one, love screensavers and so do my grandchildren, I collect them as well and now have over a hundred (both free and one's I've paid for) that I can switch and switch about. This saver is worth the time it took to download it on dial-up, the scenery is lovely, the fish are beautiful and even the music is very nice and tranquil. For me it's very much a keeper and I hope the 3planesoft and GAOTD will be kind enough to offer more as I will not be able to afford to buy all their savers and I would like to have more. And as for all you whiners and complainers, go whine and complain to someone who cares what you think.

Hmm, a little bit suspicius: activatet and work fine on to computers 1000 MHZ and 1500MHZ both win xp sp3, but I did take the online scan from 20 different antivirus(online malware scan) and in 5 they did find the file infected (setup file), try it by your self: http://virusscan.jotti.org/
The program is good, nice grafic, tomorrow i wil try with my own antivirus and see if its find something, I did try before to get my pc infected from a screensaver, but right now I dont know what to believe.
Thanks for good comments, GAOTD, 3planesoft, and I hope the infection is only a mistake from those antivirus programs:)

I am also having the registration problem. I ran "Activate" before installing and it said it activated. Then I installed the screensaver.
When the settings screen came up, it said unregistered. I ran the screensaver and after a few minutes, got a nag screen about purchasing the screensaver.

Thank you for any help

I usually stay away from screen savers as I've heard that a lot of them come with little secrets...spyware, trojans, viruses, worms, etc.
How do we tell if these things are in a program like this? I wouldn't mind having a fish tank on my screen once in awhile, but fear of those unwanted little goodies generally keeps me away from screensavers.

I really like 3Dplanesoft screen savers and are beautiful on my 22 inch Samsung, and especially the Ancient Castle 3D.

Some screen savers just do not produce the quality like these. So it's just a fixed screen with moving fish - still just beautiful.

Thankyou GAoTD and 3Dplanesoft for another nice offer.

It's a beautiful screen saver but then all of 3Planesoft's screen savers are so I'm surprised that it's so static.
I'll use it once in a while but I'll stick to my "Water Mill" or "Ancient Castle" or others from them I own.
Thank you GAOTD anyway :-)

The saver's nice enough -- some of the artwork's really well done, and the music is pleasant. However, it's a little unrealistic because the watery highlights and reflections are pretty much everywhere instead of just where the light hits. Also, some fish seem to be in bright sunlight even though the light isn't hitting them, but it doesn't happen very often.

I did skip the screensaver manager given some of the earlier comments (thanks, guys). I'd rate it a 7 out of 10 overall.

I tried registering it to giveawayoftheday, but it still wanted a registration number. This isn't the first I've had to delete from them. I'm one of the few who likes a screensaver, and finally have the memory. Please find some that work on Vista Home Premium (Ugh). thanks for the try.

#16 AnAceBuyer. Only a-squared finds a problem with 3planesoft and it is my experience that a-squared finds fault with too many legitimate programs. A-squared was a Giveawayoftheday a while back and I tried it out, but ended up uninstalling it because it was too unreliable. I also recalled at that time, that I had tried a-squared several years ago and had ended up uninstalling it then, too. Apparently, it has not improved over the years.

As for today's screensaver, I like it and I like 3planesoft. I have been using the manager for some time and like it. I have the manager randomly rotate the screensavers among the 3planesoft ones I have. It works well with my ScreenSaverSwitchPlus which allows me to temporarily disable the screensaver, if necessary.

3Planesoft screensaver!!! I love these screensavers. After seeing one on this site I went and BOUGHT several more. Yes, I actually buy software I like. But who would buy a screensaver?!? Well I normally would not, but such is the quality of the ones these guys put out I felt it was well deserved. Much better then the other screensavers that have been offered here by other companies.

Now that I have praised 3Plane soft, lets look at the screen saver. This one is nice, peaceful, colorful, and high quality. They employ some very talented 3d artists the detail and quality of the animation is beautiful. They also have some decent musicians (for a screen saver) However in my opinion it is not one of their best. but mostly because the scene is static. I believe that this is probably because it started life as the coral clock screen saver (http://www.3planesoft.com/fish-screensavers/coral-clock-3d-screensaver/) and then the took the clock out and put the ship in. (It use to be, not sure if it is true any longer, that the 2 related screensavers were sold as a bundle. You buy one you get the other free.)

Still this is a really decent screensaver. A good introduction to the company. The screensaver manager is not that intrusive. It is a convenient way to see what else they offer and have a chance to try it out. It is actually useful if you have several of their screensavers, and in such I would suggest keeping it installed.

If you like this one check out the other, or pretty much any of the screensavers on their site. It is 3Plane soft screen savers that got me hooked on this site.

They work great on Vista 32bit and 64bit. I can't comment on trying to activate them with the Giveaway of the Day software on 64bit Vista, I have my purchased ones on that computer. (And people at work keep commenting on them!) Any problems activating is not likely to be an issue with 3Planesoft, but GiveAway.

Nice screensaver, does not seem to take up much memory. I don't take kindly to many screensavers, but this one is relaxing (with music off). I too, did not install screen manager, finding I have one already.
Only issue I have, is having to watch it load everytime, prior to launch, but still enjoyable.

I want to thank GOTD for this site, and the game site as well.
Here's to a grand, and popular, future for GOTD team!

TO ALL THOSE WHO ENCOUNTERED INSTALL and/or
REGISTRATION PROBLEMS:

When installing any software (not just this one),
you really should ALWAYS read the "README.TXT" file and follow its instructions
before doing anything..
In this case, it explicitly states to run
"Activate.exe" FIRST and then the "Setup.exe" program.

It clearly states: "Unzip the package you've
downloaded and run the activation program Activate.exe which is included in the
package, then run Setup.exe to install the software. You have to install it
before the Giveaway offer for the software is over.
"

Download and installation was a breeze. The problem with this screensaver is that it is boring, boring, boring! The scene is completely static, only the fish move through the scene. Plant life is immobile. The sunken ship in the background overpowers the picture. Your point-of-view never changes. I am pleased to report "Uninstall" works quickly and easily. I had the whole thing up and running for less than 10 minutes, that's how uninteresting this offering is. Thanks anyway, appreciate the effort, but this is not the sort of thing we look forward to seeing on the Giveaway site.

Help for Dan Comment no. 3 maybe
I found I could not get a proper activation on My vista 64bit
But it installed properly and activated on a XP 32 bit machine of mine
So what I did was find the entry on the XP 32 bit system under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\3Planesoft\Coral Reef 3D Screensaver
export that branch and then merge that registry entry on my Vista 64 bit
the Screensaver then showed as registered in the settings

Hopefull you understand my method it worked for me
