The M4P format is a "DRM protected" format. All music you buy from the iTunes or other Music Store is in the M4P protected format, meaning you just can't convert the file to MP3.

Well, it is past midnight and at least it looks like GAOTD are keeping their word about another 24 hrs. Attempts to activate just gives the same error and no "This GAOTD is no longer offered".

It is time to go to bed and probably most of the people involved in setting this up already are. So hasta mañana my friends. Maybe things will get straighten out, not like to 'friendly' goCRM people who never got me a license thus incurring in false advertising and plain old lying (at least twice).

Here is to hoping this has a happy end like 99% of the GAOTD and GGOTD have been.

This pprogram refuses to activate...Keeps saying it cannot connect to the internet. I am always connected or I could not be writing this note. I get the code and follow all directions, but no luck. I think I have spent enough time (2 hours) trying to activate.

#135, while your explanation of AVS using Themida security software makes sense, what OS are you using? I can run Windows Task Manager or Process Explorer on my Windows XP system while AVS Audio Converter starts without problems.

Unfortunately AVS Software uses 'Themida' (ie. We've detected you are running a program we don't want you to) and I am not about to replace my choice of Task Manager for any software. So I guess I will be looking for alternatives (not AVS).

- If anyone is wondering what the "A monitor program has been found running in your system. Please unload it from memory and restart your program." message is about - or why the program takes is unusually slow to start up - it's "Themida" - Nuisance value mostly - even when you close the "monitor program" (My Task Manager - which launches at startup) - you still cannot launch the Themida infected software.

- Themida is probably unnecessary as the software is being given away to everybody with a registration code. It's biggest impact here is in stopping people from actually running the software (legitimately or otherwise).

- It's a shame AVS have to cripple their software in this way to protect against the unscrupulous.

To # 9. I tried to upload the program to VIRUSTOTAL and it wont upload. I DID manage to send the ZIP folder the program came in and it did upload it. I wait for news now.

Comment: Its strange there are NO files in the destination folder AFTER it is installed to view in the AVS4YOU folder huh??? Anyone know why this is?

Installation and Registration is easy - but crashes everytime, wenn trying to convert wma to mp3. Other conversions run without problems. Computer: Intel Dual Core 2.1, Win XP, no special environment.

I downloaded their earlier version of this not too long ago from this site and really liked it for the month or so that it worked. Then it just went haywire on me so I finally had to delete it. I'm glad to see the program back and I hope that this one remains stable. I found it to be a very easy and quick converter the first time around. This new version will be my 4th or 5th audio converter so I am starting to have a pretty good idea of what to look for. Thanks to both the AVS and GOTD people for this program and others. And ignore those who complain about "another dumb audio converter". They are NOT all the same and with the spread of new formats it is important to have a program that is up to date in what it will work with.

Found some more problems. It lists video files as audio files, but it won't open them, and doesn't complain. There may be problems with the ID3v2 support. I haven't experienced any problems with multiple-file conversion.

#113, "Little" John, if you'd read the description at the top of the page for AVS Audio Converter, you would have seen that single-core processors are supported and are (much) more common than dual-core processors. Spare us your fantasies; we all know that the only double-date you're having is with your hands.

#144 (Fubar): Actually, you are mistaken. I do check when I can; I do have a day job that I can't specifically divert my life back to this site until after my duties are complete. Today was longer than most. As per what you have said; I have the newest BIOS available for my motherboard, and I do have the newest X2 drivers available because I have had issues in the past and had to resolve the issues with this; Specifically with games which didn't use a proper clock cycle monitor and would either crash or run at about 2x the speed (Though not the only issue related to dual-cores in that time.) You can find the drivers page at http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html for those who are interested.

I do appreciate your suggestion though; I do not mind discussing when I can here on issues that will directly effect GotD-ers - I have my forums for people who may not want a conversation in front of likely or for my upcoming topics that aren't related to GotD at all. It is easier to have a directed revolving conversation on my forums than right here on this site. The site is VERY heavily visited ( http://alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=giveawayoftheday.com ) and might be difficult to maintain a good conversation here.

Sorry for the test. Twice I've tried to upload a comment; twice it's failed to appear. I'm not aware of anything incendiary coming from my web address, so I can't imagine I'm banned.

I'll repeat the comment in case this goes through: Are we sure this is the extended demo version? I've looked everywhere on the interface and in the help file and cannot find out any info about version number or license type.

I have enough audio converters (dbPowerAmp) but downloaded this because of the support for dual core processors. Similar to #65, On my HP AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core using Windows Media Center 2005 conversions were blazingly fast. Thanks to GOTD and OMT!

Hmm. I'm not running Duo, but I am using a Pentium 4 at 3.06 Mhz with 2 GB of memory. If I select more than one song to convert, it works on two for awhile, and then the application hangs. My PC is an HP... some horsepower, but nothing exotic.

I did use it to convert some music selecting one song at a time.

Bummer. Today I needed a Audio Converter, and I'm always looking for good reliable software.

Hey #66! You are wrong about Norton Antivirus. Norton Antivirus is one of the best antivirus! NOD32, Norton Antivirus and Antivir has the best detection engine out there. Maybe the user of the machine you are talking about is using outdated definitions.

#55, BladedThoth, I doubt that you'll read this; I get the impression that you don't check back after you post your reviews. I'm not keen on joining yet another forum (yours) to comment on things that may be of general interest to others here on GOTD. Two suggestions: make sure your BIOS is up-to-date, and go to the AMD site and download the latest drivers for your Athlon X2 (old AMD drivers had dual-core problems).

To those receiving incorrect Internet connection errors: please post your OS and security/firewall software. One post indicated Vista. Make sure your firewall allows the relevant software to communicate. Recent versions of McAfee can block Internet access even when disabled; McAfee may have to be uninstalled.

#95, Nancy, this program transcodes audio files to other formats or (lower) qualities (smaller/more-compressed files); it won't transcode video files (I don't remember right off whether it can extract and transcode the audio from a video file).

Greetings GOTD & AVS4YOU! And Helloooooooo, LADIES!!!
I hate having to wait till I get home from the gym and shower to try these software offerings, because if there's a problem I'd rather tackle it early in the day(my nights are full, if you catch my drift, ladies!). But I'm happy to say that this is one of the best giveaways yet. Like everything in my life, my machine is dual-core and this converter seems tailor-made for it. Usually there's a stampede of folks with freeware suggestions, but not so much today. I think that's because the AVS Audio Converter out-performs the freebies. If anyone can prove otherwise, feel free to squeak up. I'm listening. Granted I haven't tried all the alternatives (too busy with the ladies!) But this is faster and more reliable than any hand-out I've tried.
In fact, except for the guy (#25) who reviewed dual-core software after testing it on a single-core processor (you should call yourself NOOB-ar), and the usual geniuses who can't get it to download, the main criticism I've heard is that the program isn't pretty. So what? Neither are you. If you want pretty, stare at your Peter Max posters for awhile, hippies. Then try converting some audio with them.
Well, I'd like to sit here and chat with my fellow GOTD audiophiles, but I've got a couple of fine gone chickadees waiting in my chariot. And they're chirping for some of that good Johnny lovin'.

Thanks again, GOTD and Online Media Technologies, you've outdone yourselves!!!

Can't thank GAOTD and AVS enough. I've had alot of fun with AVS Ringtone and have found both Audio Editor & Recorder very helpful. Now, since installing Audio Converter, I am having an Not Responding message when any/all/each of my AVS apps opens and asks whether or not I want to check for updates. The activity hourglass then prevents me from answering yes or no or clicking the x button to close the box. Eventually the application crashes, repeatedly. I have an HP laptop with XP Home. After installing several times with the same results, I gave up. I then opened Ringtone and encountered the same, exact problem...never happened before. Decided to open Editor and received a different error: "Access violation at address 005FA700 in module 'AVSAudioEditor.exe'. Read of address 33AD43F4." WHAT's HAPPENING???

#97:

Linux _is_ a professional solution, just give it a try. I think 'The Gimp' can compete with Coreldraw and Photoshop, and there's tons of stuff that can do what Frontpage (does anyone really use that crap?) and Dreamweaver can. I'm not going to look them up for you, I believe you can do that just fine by yourself.

And good luck in your fight against drug addictions!

#47:"So I guess multicore PC’s are real cheap in your country?"
-No Sir. They are expensive.
"Or do you just want to download free software, and don’t care what it’s for?"
-No Sir. I use not more than 80% of GAOTD's presentations. My activities are limited in the fields of struggle against drug addicts, ufology, advertising and some hobbys like web-designe /where I am a novice/.

Schop, it was very kind of you to suggest me such a solution as UBUNTU. Thank you very much! Could you point LINUX equivalents of CorelDraw, Photoshop, Frontpage, Dreamweaver I can use under UBUNTU?. Not analogs but equivalents. Thank you in advance! But believe me- LINUX is not a professional solution yet. :)

/Excuse me GAOTD, it was a little bit personal but I had to answer #47/

Very nice. I am very impressed with the quality of this company's stuff. I love the interface! It's not bloated or cartoony, and it never said "feature is not available in this lame version, blah blah cough up $x".

I'd give this a 10. It does exaclty what is says, no frills, confusion, etc. Handles every format I need, and is much faster than Audacity. Their video products also look nice. Recommended to a friend.
