AVS DVD to Go 2 (beta) is NOT very efficient to convert files:

it gives you to option to change bitrate and file size

if you pick a larger file size than the original

it's going to be larger

AVS DVD to Go 2 (beta) is NOT very efficient to convert files:
original FLV movie: 6.7 MB
Converted with eRightSoft SUPER: 20.3 MB AVI format
Converted with AVS DVD to Go 2 (Beta): 27.1 MB AVI format
7 extra MB to translate the same file!!!!

Even Super does a lousy job resulting in a 300% file size increase.

But AVS DVD to Go 2 (Beta) does an extra lousy job with a 450% file size increase!!!

SAME screen rez for all 3 files!!

Again registration did not work, what started out with great promise failed miserably.

This key says registration was a success but program remains unregistered.

Uninstalled and now I am loathe to try more products from this source.

I have the same problem as #203.

I got a message yesterday that it couldn't connect. Sent the email.

This morning it still would not work.

I knew the time had been extended so I uninstalled the program. Now it says my time is up to register.

I got the program to activate today. Program works good, I'm on Vista. The only thing that is a problem, is when I'm done converting a file, the program will not close. I have to go into task manager to get it to close.

The registration works now with the code I got yesterday. But I still can not close the window. If I click the X the screen jumps to my 2nd monitor. And yes I downloaded the 2nd beta version late yesterday, not the 1st version in the morning.

So... any status update on rectifying our inability to register this product? I downloaded yesterday and received the same:

“Internet connection - Unable to establish connection to the server to complete registration. Please check your Internet connection and try again.”

I see no new info. I have since lost the key and if I try to run setup again, it tells me that the "Giveaway period is over."

Did I miss the 24-hour extension?

I got home from work and read through this then downloaded the suggested update, now I've got program x 2.

The registered one crashes, the unregistered one works well but puts big red writing across the converted video.

Now wtf do I do???

I like it. It does exactly what it promises to do. Nice skins buid in already. It supports divx, xvid and h264. Nice. Only the activation-process was a little bit énervant.
I give the program 4 stars: ****

Well, I read that this program didn't work with most DVD's, so I didn't bother downloading, but I checked it again and see that it was updated to support DVD's now. Too bad it's too late to download it. There should be some sort of extension for downloading software that wasn't useful at the beginning of the day, but somehow became useful several hours later...

i have this problem to, well actually i don't have a very fast dual core processor and i have only 1GB ram, but still it said it would take about 9 hours to decode dvd to .m4v...lucky it didn't take really take 9 hours, but only 3 and a bit, but that's still slower

output quality indeed is pretty good, in the end the sound was still playing without a delay between video and sound

however, i dragged the video file into itunes then synchronized my ipod video (60gb) and itunes popped up an error, something like this: 'itunes could not copy 'filename' to your ipod because this ipod is unable to play this file'
i tought .m4v was supported by ipods? or am i wrong??
if i am wrong, then why does the program convert the dvd to .m4v?

lucky for me i didn't really need it, i only did this for testing, and i also noticed something else: for this dvd there was no option to choose subtitles, only for audio file, even tho there are subtitles in like 15 languages on this dvd.. did they forget to add that feature or something?

i think i will keep this program for later, when there is a stable version released :)
for now i give this program 5/10

sorry for my late comment, but i had internet problems yesterday so i couldn't comment then :(

The worst part of this website are the people who are whining over FREE SOFTWARE! If you don't like it, don't download it!

Let those of us who DO appreciate it download in peace and go protest baby seals or something.

I tried this morning - first time I got the "time expired" note. So I redownloaded, and it installed - but got the "can't connect to internet" message. I waited til this afternoon, and tried again on a 2nd computer, then on my laptop - same. Just saw the note to re-download - tried it again (on a 4th computer) - still got the "can't connect" error. I sent the e-mail registration from all 4 computers - no response yet. Guess we'll see what tomorrow brings!! (But, thanks to GAotD, for their effort, and all the programs they do provide us at no charge!!)

Thanks in advance

I cannot activate. I have downloaded the install twice. When I enter the code, I receive a big red 'x' with the message: "Internet connection - Unable to establish connection to the server to complete registration. Please check your Internet connection and try again".

I have never, ever had a problem activating software from here before.

Dear Slava,

I am having the unable to establish connection with the server problem as well. Is this a problem because the server is overwhelmed? I just would like to know if I should keep trying to activate to catch a moment when a window opens in the server or if this is just some programming error and I should just leave it until tomorrow when, as you said, things should be ok.

Yours,

-Mario

Strange...it converted the movie, but took forever (I thought it was supposed to be fast with dual core)...then it won't play on the PSP??? It won't upload to the device... That and the connection and close program issues everyone seems to be having...

On the good side, this is the first program I've had issues with...everything else is great!

I'm also "stuck" with the internet connection problem associated with registration! I appreciate (as we all do) the 24 hour extension on registration, which I'll try again tomorrow. The program downloaded slowly, but DID install ... so the only thing left is the registration in order to convert the demo version into the full working version.

Thanks Again!

Siva, comment ~70, re ~24, it worked for me on two of my computers. The third one it wouldn't. I can't explain why though.

I've used the downloadable demos from their home site for every one of their downloads and the reg key has always registered them.

Dear administrator,

It is 2:33 UTC, I have been already redownload the newest whole package from your website. But this software [AVS DVD to Go 2 (Beta)] still could NOT be activate.

Could you tell me how to solve this problem?

Reply   |   Comment by Frank  –  17 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)
#163

Yeah, I'm getting the

"Unable to establish connection to the server to complete registration. Please check your Internet connection and try again"

My IC is fine. I think the AVS4You server is down.

The interesting factor is trying to "Get License by E-Mail" I click YES and my new email account wizard starts up.

PLEASE NOTE THAT This is A REAL problem with this procedure. I ONLY use web based - browser based - email like gmail and hotmail. I would normally cut and paste the email address into my browser based email BUT I do not see this address used to get the License by email.

Developers should take into account the option of Email by Browser.

It is about 03:00 zulu time, GMT - 04:00 my Time. I am going to bed and will try again in about 10 hours. I am glad the activation time has been extended 24 hours. I am looking forward to this download.
