Due to having read all the negative comments, I'm not going to bother to download and test.

Hey KCsoftwares, change your name this program from Avitoolbox to CVC = Check Video codecs. And check qualifications of your programmers. This program is a mistake and not the toolbox.

The free open source AVIdemux opens multiple codecs (AVI, MP4, FLV, WMV, etc) and does multiple cuts. It can either do a lossless copy (cuts on I-frames) or a conversion to output (cuts on any frame) eg AVI in, MP4 out.

XP SP3
v2.5.2.54

registers with the license info provided in
the GAOTD download

installs into directory of your choice,
2 MB, & otherwise looks clean

NO HELP
(not really much needed, but still)

ONLY accepts AVI files as input
(IOW no WMV, FLV, MPG, MP4 ...)

beginning/end can only select one set of
endpoints, so you cannot make multiple
cuts

the section between beginning/end is what
gets saved
there is no method to reverse that such
that the section between beginning/end is
what gets cut

if that is all that you need, then this will
do just that, very quickly, & losslessly

*MOST* of my avi files, MPEG-4 Visual, XVID,
DivX, MJPG,... this program cannot even open,
simply saying, "Check Video Codecs"

like really

there ARE shortcut keys, but the Navigation
menu does not display them
(looks to be Arrow, next frame, Alt+Arrow,
50 frames, Ctrl+Arrow, end)

options to Burn to CD or Convert to DVD, but
i did not try those

would be nice if it displayed the frame/time
information without having to mouseover

audio extraction ...
THERE WAS SO LITTLE THAT I COULD EVEN OPEN
IN THIS PROGRAM, I COULDN'T EVEN TEST AUDIO
EXTRACTION (which did not work well in the
2.0 version of this program)

even taking an existing mp3 music file &
> ffmpeg -i music.mp3 -c copy out.avi
failed to open out.avi (for me to attempt
to extract the audio back out)

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

thanks for the "effort"
like *really*

bye!

One of the good things about this software is that it doesn't re encode the AVI so there is no quality loss, if you're recording game or rendering something into uncompressed avi and you want to cut some parts out, then this software might be in handy.

Unable to open any *.avi - just get message "Indice ImageList incorrect" / "Check Video Codecs"
Not a good start :-(

Nothing wrong with this developer's seeming preference for a 24-year-old Microsoft avi format but prospects for commercial success would likely be improved if the KC toolbox also legislated for Apple's mere 15-year-old MP4.

I'm not sure that the developer has his pricing policy properly figured out, seeing as how the lack of flexibility here militates against the retail sticker whilst elsewhere in the KC stable a handy little app for producing / sizing your own passport / license pictures etc --

is free of charge.

Thanks, GOTD, and thanks, KC, for today's offer but I'll pass.

Tried to load avi files and got an error messages about 'not being able to capture image' and 'check video codecs'. Have not been able to make it work. Uninstalling.

The fact that it only handles AVI files is a turn off and not of much real use. Multi-format handling would be much more appreciated. Thanks but no thanks, not much for such limited software.

It can open AVI only, oh yeah, right, it's AVItoolbox, I'm sorry, it's not CommonVideoToolBox, even though most of the video we have is in mp4, video you download from youtube, video from your phone is not in AVI! We can use VirtualDub to deal with AVIs and it does much more than this software.
