Ashampoo Photo Reсovery was available as a giveaway on January 31, 2024!
Ashampoo Photo Recovery recovers deleted or corrupted image files. Either scan individual files for contained images or entire disk drives. You can even recover your photos from damaged RAW files or formatted disks. The latest version supports the recovery of embedded images from corrupted documents (e.g. PDF, Word, etc.) and various added RAW and image formats yield even better search results. New search filters help you better manage huge file amounts and allow you to precisely filter your results either by format, size or resolution.

In general, I like the Ashampoo applications and own a fair number of them - including "Yes I Paid For It" titles (several of which started out as Free Trials of some sort).
That said, their apps do vary in terms of User Interface and Functionality, and Photo Recovery is an example of an app that is in bad need of an UI update - which is perhaps not surprising as it dates back to 2017.
Alas - or, rather, Fortunately! - I had no immediate need for its services, but IF it does work as advertised it seems a good app to have available Just In Case.

Downloaded and Installed on Windows 10 without any problems. The software successfully recovered all the deleted jpg images I set as a test. Sadly, though, when it came to corrupted images, it failed to recover any corrupted ones. It either offered an image still corrupted or in most of the instances reported that no photo was found. This despite explorer being able to display it in its corrupted state. I was disappointed as I like Ashampoo products and have found them stable aand worthwhile. I've no idea how the images got corrupted - possibly due to some system file errors as they were ok until quite recently. It's quite possible, of course, that the damage is such that no recovery software has the ability to repair them. So far no other software has been able to repair them. I will, however, be keeping this offering. Thank you Ashampoo!

Colin, all it does to recover "corrupted" images or images from PDF ad DOCX files is where the file is compressed e.g. docx it decompresses them ignoring CRC errors and then looks for image files in the extracted folders, and in PDF and other files it liike for image headers for known defined image types like GIF, JPEG, BMP headers and where available uses header information to rebuild as much of the original image as available. If the data is truncated or overwritten near the end it cannot rebuild it but should be able to replace the missing data with lines of grey or some innocuous colour for you to correct in a graphics editing program. It cannot put back data that is gone forever unless it used AI to redraw something plausible but even the best AI cannot do that yet as no current AI content generation understands "what" it is doing let alone what is still there and has been lost.
