Those that never got the software to register aren't missing much. I've only tried it on images so far, so can't comment on video files.

For images, the "Regular Watermark Removal", which is performed locally through the software on your PC, is atrocious. It just blurs the watermark with a bunch of white vertical streaks in the area that you highlighted. This is a lost cause in my opinion.

The "AI Watermark Removal" does a much better job, but even that is a toss-up if it looks good or not. This selection uploads the image to some remote server, which processes the removal there, and then it's downloaded back to your PC. I had a couple successes that actually looked really good, a couple that were just OK, and some that were just plain bad using this method.

I tried 'giveawayoftheday' and it worked, but I STILL can't register it! There is no Activate VP, there is no place to enter the registration.

I get a verification CODE. I input the code into the box. It tells me I need 6 numbers but only gave me 4. It asks for a password and it isn't included. I have the registration code, but there's no place to enter it. KISS

Can't get it to accept the name and password that was sent to me. Plus- you can't copy and paste to that box. Plus would not show up to register after the few times I tried to get it to work. I give up. Uninstalled.

Will not install on Win 10 64bit.
Installation says to contact the vendor to ask if a 64bit version is available.
Is it?

another Apowersoft's 1 year limitation software. There are so many free or paid alternatives for this task, and again this company don't want to deliver a real giveaway(lifetime, without support and updates),but creating an account is mandatory! As for the software itself-nothing special or better then majority of similar products.BTW any software from Apowersoft is completely useless when license expires..I also noticed that every time their software is offered
people have problems with registration. For me,problem with registration occurred just once, with ApowerManager which I bought, and tried to install on new laptop( I don't have that program anymore even though I paid it ).
After short testing, extended trial version 1.4.1.2 of Watermark Remover-uninstalled via reboot.

Waste of time & effort !!

Downloaded & installed etc. , received email with registration code .
Clicked 'Log in & sign up'
Filled box with the same email & typed in [no copy & paste here !!] the registration code & up pops 'Incorrect account or password' .....
Tried it several times now , each time with the same result .

Looks like I'll be uninstalling it .

Many thanks for all the responses concerning copyright. The total copyright scenario seems to me to be a minefield. I agree with Zen that removing a copyright mark perhaps be considered 'immoral' rather than illegal so, going down that road, I do not think that G of D should not be promoting it?

Finally got it. Seems you have to log in to Apowersoft and or create an account first.

To get a new password, you have to click the "Get" next to activation code. Then you have 60 seconds to check your email for the code, insert it and put in a new password. That gets you to your account in the Watermark pgm. It is not clear if the new "house" icon which replaces the "Get VIP" icon actually gives you the VIP account for one year.

Pgm kind of works but unless the watermark is in a vague place like a sky, which can be blurred a bit, it is not usable for me. Certainly no Photoshop replacment - but I wouldn't have expected that.

Thanks.

Just stupid. Tried to activate pgm using the email code - failed. Tried to log-in as I may have another Apowersoft pgm but online would not allow me to get/change my password. To change password it keeps asking for an "activation code" to, I assume, send me a change password link.

Really? To change the password? Come on.

Can't register the pgm and can't login to Apowersoft. Great, right?

Frank H.,
I encountered the exact same problem as you. Also, on a system running on Windows 7.
I know the antivirus software is not blocking this Watermark Remover software from starting.
Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution to this issue.

Just out of idle curiosity I was wondering if removing a copyright watermark from an image can be considered as the theft of the copyright holders intellectual property. Consequently could the copyright holder commence legal action against anybody doing just that?

Reply   |   Comment by A. Gricer  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-12)

A. Gricer , Sadly, for a copyright holder to take legal action against theft of intellectual property is not simple, for instance Google uses theft of a copyright holder's translation rights with their `translation' button but it is not possible to take legal action over it. The whole purpose of a watermark is usually to preserve copyright and you have made a valid and important comment. Removal if not illegal is at least immoral.

Reply   |   Comment by Zen  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

A. Gricer , altering anything that is copyright without the owner's permission is an infringement of the owner's copyright.

Reply   |   Comment by Eddie  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

A. Gricer , yes, it would. However, as a practical matter, unless you tried to make commercial use of a valuable image, it won't happen. Even then, it would just likely be a cease and desist matter.

"... I was wondering if removing a copyright watermark from an image can be considered as ... theft[?]"

I think it would depend on the license for the image &/or video, the laws where you live/work, how you got the image or video, & what you planned to do with the result.

A lot of content & code is (C) to prevent someone else from claiming ownership & then charging people who want to use something that's intended to be free, so the license matters. If the image, or more likely video has DRM, then getting around that DRM might require reverse engineering the DRM which can be illegal. Distributing something falsely claiming ownership is usually considered illegal. But realistically, if you removed the watermark from an image you then use as your personal desktop wallpaper, if the owner somehow found out about it [extremely unlikely] it wouldn't be worth even a text message to their lawyer.

A. Gricer , It's like wax on wax off. I don't see why.

Reply   |   Comment by Marce  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

A. Gricer ,

Yes. It is theft.

Simply put, there is a reason the owner of the image decided to put a watermark on it.
To protect it from being re-used without permission.

Just because you CAN take it off does not mean you have ANY right to do so.

Here's a comparison...
I put a lock on my door.
Someone else makes you a key that will open that lock.
That does NOT mean you have MY permission to use that key, open my door, and take my property.

Some people might try to make up excuses, trying to justify it, but theft is theft.

Cheers

I had the same problem. But it also gives you an option of a password-free verification code sent for 60 secs to your email. I entered the 4 number password (no copy/pasting) and I got the message:
Version: Personal
Valid until: 03/03/2021
