It expired early. I just remembered to install it and it says expired.

Currently it is 1815hrs EST Australia.

A new offer is not made until after 1900jrs so why expire so early? I was looking forward to trying this but I was held up elsewhere today.

Well, you didn't say that it needs Apple's Bonjour service installed. Since Apple software is not allowed on my system, this is a non-starter for me.

Which is too bad, since this really looked like a great program.

Really now, a Windows program that captures an Android screen needing Apple software to do it. Seems a bit hokey to me.

Now uninstalling.

Nope, doesn't work as advertised on my Vista computer.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 running Android 5.0 and all I get is a black screen on my PC or just the Google Cast splash screen.
Also, everytime I try a screen capture I get a blank white pic.
By the way, Apowersoft Android Rec. captures Bitmap images NOT .png! Go ahead, try to open a .png created by Android Recorder in a program like Irfanview. It will tell you it's a .bmp with the .png incorrect extension.
Another problem; everytime Android Rec tries to create a screencap it searches for where to save the pic. My old floppy drive spins for a second and then the cap is finally saved in the default location. But as mentioned above its a blank, white .bmp with a .png extension.
Why does it search all drives momentarily when saving a screen cap?! The default save location was never changed!
Oh and NO recorded video has appeared after "Stop Recording" is clicked.

AdjMmsEng.dll is the component producing "Cannot create engine VX" and it may be related to the application initializing problems. The component is from Multi Media Soft, but it up to Apowersoft (the developer of this program) to use it correctly, and catch any errors. Will there be a resolution?

How odd: it installed on my home computer fine.
Now I'm trying it on my work computer: the Setup.exe calls the the .GCD file, which confirms that it's activated. And that's all that happens. The install screen, where I choose the destination folder, accept the licence, and so on -- it never appears.

Bruce Fraser, it sounds like the antivirus software on your work computer is blocking the installation. Try to disable it temporarily, if that's possible for you.

to Apowersoft Again -

Does this program have advantages or similar function to the Samsung "SideSync" that I currently use between my tablet and PC?

A major advantage would be ease of control and file transfer - both between PC and Android and vice versa.

Reply   |   Comment by Ides  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

Ides, our Android Recorder is different with SideSync. The advantages include well compatibility to almost all the Android 5.0 or later version phones, however, SideSync only work on SamSung devices. Besides, this application also allows for recording Android screen with audio and taking screenshots.

Not bad but needs work.

Tried it out with an Android TV box running on 5Ghz WiFi.

It can be a little hit and miss as to whether Google cast sees the program on my PC but closing and opening the generally program solves that.

Started off with an MP4 standard quality recording with audio.

It worked but there were 3 issues:

1. Although the quality of video image was good, the playback was a little juddery to the point where it becomes annoying.

2. Audio is slightly out of sync with the video. not by much but enough to notice.

3. The resultant video output is split into a host of MP4 files of varying sizes, which means that I would have to join the files together to get a single video. I can't see why this needs to be the case as the files are split at random intervals.

I then increased the video capture quality to the maximum and repeated the test.

Playback was much smoother with the better quality.

Audio was still slightly out of sync with the video.

More of the same split MP4 files (13 in all for 2 minutes worth of recording).

I suspect that people will have varying degrees of success dependent upon the Andoid device used and speed of network, so it may well be that some users will have perfect quality output.

I am impressed with what it's potential is but as to whether the program has bugs or not, more comments will be required to assess things.

The split files is a real pain though and the one aspect that would put me off purchasing until I could be sure of a single file output.

Perhaps the developer could offer some thoughts.

Interesting however it fails to work for me.

*Requires* Apple Bonjour to be installed and running to be able to 'screen cast' your Android screen on a Windows Desktop; poor implementation in my opinion. Help always force opens IE verses your default browser. If the user changed the default browser, you need to honor that.

When I tried to cast, all I get is a black screen on the computer, changing screens on the Android device doesn't change the black screen. Disconnecting caused this app to crash.

Uninstalling, not worth the effort when there are other options available that do work, example Teamviewer (Samsung devices).

Can I record an internet radio program? If so, can it be set to record a certain program weekly or do I press the record button when I want it to start and then again when I want it to stop? From my PC and not from my phone? If not, are there other good recorders out there. Thanks

My computer is connected to two networks and the software does not give me a choice as to which it will use. My Android can connect to any of my networks (4 total). To minimize trial and error, I disabled one of the pc's network adapters to get the two devices on the same network. Then I could only get it to work by disabling the firewall. I cleared all the firewall logs, then re-enabled the firewall to try to see what rule to add or app to allow. Not seeing the .exe for this program in the list, I manually added it; that was no help. I put the firewall in "Learning" mode to get the prompts for each new connection, and found a log entry for mDNSResponder.exe showing two of my LAN addresses which matched the two devices, and I allowed it, and restarted the pc program. All works now. It would be useful if their user guide showed port numbers (5353 is what I see) and that mDNSResponder.exe is the program (belongs to the Bonjour for Windows service).

Ides, it will cast your screen just like SideSync, but that is all it will do that is similar to SideSync. It doesn't transfer files or allow clicking like SideSync. However, Apowersoft Android Recorder lets you record your Android screen to a video file on your computer or GIF, so you can make a tutorial or record your favorite videos for offline play.

I tried it on my windows 10 and Android -whatever and it worked perfectly fine.

Now all I need is a small tool to reach my phone remotely and open Google Cast so that I can see who is calling me when my screen is broken but still working perfectly other than that - which actually was the case a few months ago.

I too do not like the Edge/IE default, I do not use either. Surely things like this should use your default browser and not have MS products foisted on you. Is Bonjour really required? I do not usually use any Apple software and will uninstall it if it is not absolutely necessary.

I'm probably missing the point here but if I want to copy videos or music from my Samsung phone to my laptop (or vice versa) I use a USB cable.
What does this software do that a USB cable can't do?

Reply   |   Comment by Derek Lawler  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-6)

Derek Lawler,
You haven't read the app's description: its purpose is to 'screencast' (mirroring activities on your phone) to your computer, with or without recording. Some scenarios for use would be to watch videos on a larger screen, make training videos, create reviews of Android apps or capture behaviors needed to report program bugs or obtain support, and quite a few others.

It's not for copying files between your Android device and computer, which you can do without the use of special software, and with or without a USB cable.

Installed without any difficulty on my XP hard drive, unfortunately my tablet android version is not recent enough.
It requires Android 5.0 or later.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the download of the android application, 10 MB, it assumes that the default browser is Internet Explorer rather than Firefox as in my case, something I really dislike.

It also installed Bonjour apparently an Apple application on my PC.

It looks a really interesting program but as I can't use it I uninstalled it.

Reply   |   Comment by Irene  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Steffo,
There is nothing 'malwarelike' about it; you should avoid throwing words around irresponsibly. It's simply a tool which facilitates discovery of network devices on a LAN, with a minimum of fuss.

Personally, as a long-time Windows and Linux user--and one who has vehemently eschewed iTunes--I've never historically had a need for Bonjour. That is, until my daughter became a Mac fan and I had to incorporate her laptop into the network so that she could access the household file and media server (which runs on a Linux machine). By installing Bonjour on the Linux box (actually, an open-source version called Avahi) it saved me a nightmarish amount of headaches in getting Windows, Mac, and Linux machines to all talk to each other.

Sure, Apple's Bonjour (which gets installed as a "service" on Windows machines) can sometimes be annoying (particularly in how frequently it likes to update), and there can be some security risks--but this almost always the fault of a specific vendor's implementation, not of Bonjour itself. And any potential inconvenience should be weighed against its ability to make network devices easily discover and communicate with each other while obviating the need for manual configuration, especially helpful for networking noobs.

This is why so many software and hardware vendors implement it--and if you use any of the following products you will likely already have it on your [Windows] machine:

-iTunes
-TiVo
-Skype
-Pidgin messenger client
-Safari
-almost all Adobe products, like Photoshop, or their Creative Suite

Forgot to mention one more...
Practically every wireless network printer or AIO device manufactured in the last 10 years uses Bonjour to facilitate network discovery and usage, so if you use one and you installed the software which came with it, guess what...you have Bonjour on your computer.

No need to run Bonjour all the time if you're not using it regularly.
Command line to disable Bonjour on Windows (suitable for quick batch file):

sc config "Bonjour Service" start= disabled

Command lines to enable Bonjour service on demand:

sc config "Bonjour Service" start= demand
net start "Bonjour Service"

Reply   |   Comment by Doug James  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+10)

Robert,

You are correct: Bonjour isn't technically malware. However, it is often installed without user's permission. More importantly, it is considered to be an insecure protocol and is recommended by most security experts to be disabled or uninstalled.

We don't allow it to run within any of our global corporate networks and I follow the same practice at home (and those of my friends & relatives which I manage).

BTW: Bonjour isn't alone in this situation. The same recommendation hold's true for UPnP.
