Leo,

ApowerPDF Support probably meant to write before January 6th is over (therefore January 7th is to late). If you are in the USA, today is January 6th.

Apowersoft,
Please settle this, is this a one year license only? I do not see that anywhere in the description.

Leo, That is before end of day, Jan 6th.

vc, it is also stated in the Readme, and I assume it was an error, but how can one trust a company's code if they can't read a calendar?

vc, The email they send on registering says "Thanks for purchasing ApowerPDF(Yearly Subscription), below is your VIP account:"

Reply   |   Comment by D Murphy  –  2 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

D Murphy,
Then the company should put that in the description so people know that before downloading and wasting people's time if they do not want a year subscription.

Apowersoft, why don't you mention on your web page for this product that what you are providing is a free trial with watermarks and other restrictions and the prices for the licensing of it? Why is this product not even mentioned on your https://www.apowersoft.com/store/ ? This all feels like some kind of collection of deceptions...

Why after creating a PDF from a blank document do you not offer any standard sizes like A3, A4, A5 or A6.... why can't we even ADD further pages to the created PDF file? This program looks and feels very unfinished and should have its licencing handled locally and not rely upon an online account that no one needs on a desktop program!

Hi, Apowerpdf team, I have tested your pdf software and it is good. But i have a suggestion for you. Yearly subscription system is not a good idea and many people and also me doesn't like it. Thanks gotd and apowerpdf team.

ApowerPDF 3.3.1 tested last year, I dumped it. Nothing interesting, it is underdeveloped, requires many changes, no OCR, poor editing, not enough transparent menu. It is expensive, at such a price you can buy on the promotion: Foxit PDF, PDFelement 6 Pro, Ashampoo PDF Pro, Master
PDF Editor, etc. For reading a very good free PDF-XChange Viewer.

In addition to JustSayNo's comment,

I too don't use subscription or web based programs, but my reasons are that I travel extensively and many locations don't have internet access. Plus I just don't like funding their coffers for features I don't need beyond what I'm using. I think most companies using this scheme forget that! Although I understand the reasons they do that is to provide guaranteed ongoing income. But if we ever suffer from an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse)(God Forbid) either Man made or from the Sun, none of us who rely solely on the internet, will have lost access to all functionality and information, .... that's providing our phones or computers still work!

This giveaway seems to be a 1 year full license with updates then reverts to the trial version, and there is both a yearly and lifetime license with updates available for around 39.95/79.95 at the time I looked. One problem is that the pdf reader does not seem to function while the selection edit window is open at the same time, so for example when trying to delete pages you cant view the pdf to choose them at the same time, you have to browse first and write it down and needs to be fixed. The features of ocr and convert to word and others besides graphics seem to be missing at the moment that were mentioned.
If you are looking solely for deleting or splitting pages I liked the functionality of pdf page delete. Those features including merge and some of the other features are also in the pdfsam basic which is free and has some upgrades. There are many quality readers such as the free sumatrapdf or can try icecream ebook reader. This program includes printing to create pdfs but that too is available free or in some of the other inexpensive programs.
Where I think I may consider is as an editor so far it seems very capable with just clicking into text boxes and changing text similar to a program like word, removal of graphics and changing the backgrounds, header, footer, sign, watermark etc and was easier then pdfill pdf editor and did some good edits without even yet reading the directions but havent tested many other editors. My suggestion might be to make it two prices, with a lower price for the player and some of the features like the reader, delete, merge, and the higher price with the editor in line with competitor pricing.

I know other companies have 1 year subscriptions.. I dont use ANY of them because of that. Honestly all the hoops you need to jump through to use some software; I made the decision long ago to pass on all that stuff. I wont buy anything that is limited by time period. I suggest we all do this then the subscription model would die. Too many times Iv'e seen great software and the creator's company goes bust and you are left with wasted space on your HDD.

Apparently missing are what I am looking for:

-- OCR Optical Character Recognition, along with scanned page page straightening sharpening and exposure and noise elimination

-- Intelligent and accurate conversion to epub.

Thanks, though, I'm sure the other basic functions ... function.

Quick questions:

1. Will it stop working in a year from now, or
2. In a year, it will revert back to trial version, or
3. In a year, I simply lose the updates?

Tried to activate, rec a e-mail that says you have activated for yourself restart program, then it ask for verification code of which I never got, uninstalled and was upset at wasting my time on a unreliable product. Wont use their soft ware for any reason. I am 77 years old and sure dont wish to waste my time on a jump through hoops registration lol. and I dont like them asking for a code that was not included in the email and no I am not senile .

Can't accept the requirement to log in when I use the program. If I can't use it locally its not for me. Also not happy with the description not being up-front with the requirement to become a VIP member with annual subscription (one year free). I don't hold with deceptive sales gimmicks. GAOTD begins to worry me. Too many trial by back door offerings of late.

Downloaded & installed. Problem reported on Win 7, saying a driver wouldn't load. Continued anyway & registered. Opens PDF's quickly, & seems useful for page changes etc. BEWARE - the Guide shows OCR & conversion to non-image formats, but they are not present as installed on my machine. On the guide these features show in the menu, but no sign in menu on mine. I may contnue to use this as a fast reader, but I'll use OCR & conversion features on other PDF s/w I have. I'll continue my search for a reliable PDF editor ......

Why doesn't the email state the

Reply   |   Comment by Harry  –  2 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-6)

Harry,

I feel for you because I still have several computers doing batch work using XP. I'm glad you didn't get hit by the XP bashers; they show up here occasionally. I also have all the other Windows OS versions, but I don't need to upgrade every workhorse computer I own if they work fine.

To help with your question:

"Top right of what?"
The top right of this GOTD page in the System Requirements section.

"Still not on the email in my outlook inbox"
As a general rule, you will not see the System Requirements in the e-mail because it is presented on the Giveaway page.

Best of luck to you.

Reply   |   Comment by Gary  –  2 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Harry, not tried it under XP but installs and runs without complaining under Vista SP2 personally I would not waste my time trying it to see if it will install and run under XP if I were you... This seems to be a fabricated giveaway of an Alpha build project that is not finished and does not live up to its documented claims.

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  2 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

Gary, Thanks for reply but my COMPLAINT was that on the emaul sint by GAOTD it never states system requirements, so that I wont waste time going to the GAOTD webpage to find that the offer doesn't apply to my clanky computer/ AS for the XP bashers if they would like to pay for a new entry level laptop with windows 10. We senior citizens can't afford a WIN 7 disc from Amazon even. Its difficult enogh to pay for an internet connection. Now if an XP basher can tell me how to connect to the internet for free legally and acquire said laptop for double figures, otherwise keep your predjudices to yourselves. Some of have no choice.

Thank you Apowersoft and GAOTD for this, as you said Zen this is a fully licenced for a year piece of software. Reading the comments below I think a number of people forget that you buy a one year licence to a number of progs, Norton, Office 365 etc then have to renew your subscription to retain the full functionality you have. Apowersoft and all the other companies generously offer their software here, some here say we are the beta testers., As these companies clearly show the price in the nice blue box above that a number seem to miss, it would indicate to me that these are "live" releases, is this any different to the big boys new releases?

Reply   |   Comment by grangehearts  –  2 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-15)

grangehearts, ButGaotd say they are NOT limited trials, I simply quoyed them in full and it was removed.

Reply   |   Comment by Zen  –  2 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Zen , Can you be clearer? When I activated mine I had to become a VIP registered member and my registration was clearly stated as renewable (has to be paid for every year after this one). So how is that not a limited trial? When you say you "quoted them in full and it was removed". Who or what did you quote in full and what was removed? Were you given a life times VIP membership? I don't think so.

Reply   |   Comment by D Murphy  –  2 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

Zen , I notice that, I enjoy reading your posts and didn't think your comment was derogatory in any way. I get your point, but I think the generally accepted definition of a software trial is thirty days. That's what the big boys give you with their trials before the premium features cease and you're left with a basic functionality or worse. A six month license I'd say was loanware, but given that the six month boys put a repeat or newer version up (IObit) it's like a renewable license / upgrade. A year long license while disappointing to some is a fair deal, after all you are getting a full paid prog for your free use, not a shareware package. As I previously said would the big boys give you one of their yearly licensed products free and gratis, and would we get the same reactionary moaning?

a usual PDF program expects also a converter to word!!!!! Only conversion to images, so no use for extracting texts from a pdf. No go for me!!!!

For me, whatever its other features, any PDF software without OCR (optical character recognition), which allows the processing of scanned PDF documents, is a no go.
