Anyone from AOMEI or GotD have explanation for Pro status of program reverting back to Standard after registration, shutdown, restart?

Installation went well and first time open the app to enter the code. Then it became the pro version. Then I closed it, and opened it again, it changed back to standard edition. I had to click on the register button to enter the code again. It said register successful and turned into pro version. If I exit and reopen, it will become the standard edition again. This is weird. Why? OS is Windows Vista 64bit.

Gosh, I've installed the programme, AFTER getting a message that the file was corrupted (so why did it eventually install??) -- but I cannot find ANYWHERE a place to stick the licence number!

Did it pick it up automatically on installation? Otherwise I am worried that this WILL NOT LAST A DAY!

Where should I CLICK to even see that it HAS been registered? There is absolutely no obvious or less-than-obvious place for any licence numeber -- very fustrating.....

Tranmontane,
My installation has a bar across the top of the screen with a number of choices. One of the choices is "Register."

harvey macken, Thanks -- mine doesn't, so this is useful information! It's a pity they don't make it CLEAR whether you are registered or not -- it would save a lot of (totally wasted) time!

tranmontane, I just wondered if my AVG A-V programme was causing this problem, so I just took it off....

But it's too late now, anyway, for THIS programme....

Is AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro 8.5 lifetime or a one year license. There's no limit listed on the giveaway page.

The install wants to uninstall my AOMEI PA version 6 which has a lifetime license. So unless version 8.5 has more compelling features, I'll take a pass on this.

I thought I would upgrade. Uninstall older version to installed AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro 8.5 everything went OK, entered the license code and clicked register and received message registration successful only to find after closing and reopening program it had reverted back to the standard edition.

Program doesn't stay registered after exiting the program. It accepts the key but after exiting the program and running it again it's not registered.

Hello Helen!

I see. But may i say that you need a better e-mail management for this? One thing is not wanting the newsletter, another one being unable to get the giveaway (Since i have no social media the e-mail link is the only way).

And what about i change my mind and i want to subscribe again?

Cheers!

No issues installing ....the install package politely asked if I wanted to uninstall a previous version - and it did and then installed the updated version. Nice app, nice interface too. No issues with registration either. Did not have to disable my antivirus.

thanks for the giveaway.

Grab this asap. Best program out there bar none. I am a software junkie and a few days ago I needed to merge 2 partitions. Most of them ( Mini Tool, EaseUS etc) would only merge on reboot and yet none worked. Tried this and it worked fine. And many usefull other tools like recovery, OS Clone etc. And it's funny, I have a scroll wheel on my mouse and 9 hard drive yet this is one of the few where the wheel allows me to scroll back and forth.

I've tried in both a win7 32-bit & win10 64-bit VMs, & had to use the standard or free version of Partition Assistant to get it to register to Pro -- the GOTD install appears to register but restarting the app the registration key & upgrade icons are there -- with the standard version it goes away & stays away. Otherwise many of the files making up AOMEI Partition Assistant are updated going from 8.2 -> 8.5, & also 8.5 std. -> 8.5 GOTD, though I haven't found a changelog.

It's a good app that's worked well for me -- I add it to all our Windows devices. I only use it very occasionally, rarely to tweak partition sizes, and more often to get rid of the extra win10 recovery partitions that happen every so often with win10 version updates/upgrades. In either case it's easier to have it already installed than to bother with boot disks/drives or downloading & installing partitioning software.

That said, while better than earlier versions, AOMEI's bootable USB sticks &/or their WinPE environ installed to the hard disk doesn't work for every device. While Partition Assistant Pro includes a tool to create Windows To Go drives, I prefer to use the free Rufus because of that.

I am having trouble installing this. I get
gettickcount64 could not be located in dynamic link library kerne32.dll
Can you help me with this?

Reply   |   Comment by Jim  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Jim,

Google, e.g.

stackoverflow[.]com/questions/17842981/the-procedure-entry-point-gettickcount64-could-not-be-located-in-the-dynamic-l

From a Very Quick look seems like it might be an XP problem, as in the app isn't compatible with XP, and yes, I know the AOMEI page says it's XP compatible, but there's so few people running XP, if it is incompatible, maybe they either don't get enough complaints to fell they need to update their page, or they don't want to bother.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Jim, maybe You have Windows XP. In the description, also on their site, they state that it works with XP, instead gettickcount64 requires at least Windows Vista.

I tried to install AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro 8.5 on my computer with Windows 10 64 Pro English 1909.
It finds that there is already installed 8.2 and wants to remove it.
But it fails since the uninstall data files for 8.2 are empty.

OldGuy, What i got out of this is that you DON'T run an install, you just drag out the "app" folder, put it where you want it, and run it like a portable app. By now it may be too late to register it to make it pro, but using the GAOTD license code worked for me last night.

Dattatraya Vaidya,

My guess is that either A) the part about the license expiring is inaccurate, or B) it reverts to the standard [free] version, which still does what most people use partitioning apps for.

I downloaded this and ran setup, nothing happened except that I was taken to the AEOMI website where it said that it was registered successfully, however, there is no sign of the program on my PC.

I already have v8.2 and when I access the icon that is what I get, so where is v8.5?

Reply   |   Comment by Don Armour  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Don Armour, It's first step should be to either remove or upgrade your current version. Did it run the installation process for you?

Reply   |   Comment by Rick_S  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Tester, I am suspicious of programs that require me to disable my AV before I can install them, why would they need to do that if they are clean?

I added setup.exe as an exception in Avast, restarted and tried again, same result.

I guess I'll stick with v 8.2 for the time being.

Reply   |   Comment by Don Armour  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Rick_S, No, it just took me to the activation page where all I could do was spread the word via social media or offer comment on how to improve the program.

It neither uninstalled nor installed anything.

Reply   |   Comment by Don Armour  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Don Armour,

"Tester, I am suspicious of programs that require me to disable my AV before I can install them, why would they need to do that if they are clean?"

And I'm suspicious of security software that has problems with false positives. :) It's only some, not all brands of AV software that falsely flags the GOTD setup files [wrapper], so you have to decide if Avast is better in this case, catching something other top rated AV software misses, or if other brands are better because the Avast devs can't always figure out what's safe & what's not.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Don Armour, Frequently, GAOTD has packages that Avast and a few other Anti-Virus programs don't like. I also use Avast and all you have to do is right click on the icon in your task bar, select shields control and select "disable for 10 minutes". I do this all the time. The programs here on GAOTD are safe to install without your AV active.

Reply   |   Comment by Dean Berglund  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Dean Berglund, Thanks for that, sadly, the installation period has now expired, so I can't successfully run the setup program despite the fact that the AEOMI website says that it is activated.

Nevertheless, I shall remember that advice for the next time I hit this problem.

Again, thanks.

One of the best soft for managing disk partitions. I am using the free version of AOMEI Partition Assistant and it is always updating along with Windows 10. This is a very important function because of using older version on newest Windows could cause serious errors and lose data. This giveaway version is the best solution at least in one year with many advance functions than free version. Suggest to you for rescued tool USB.

Reply   |   Comment by Kevin Bui  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+14)

Kevin Bui,

"... it is always updating along with Windows 10. This is a very important function because of using older version on newest Windows could cause serious errors and lose data."

Software updates are cool, But, they're not any sort of guarantee. If Microsoft updates something in win10 that prevents Partition Assistant from working properly, which hasn't happened AFAIK with much earlier versions of Partition Assistant, then having the latest version of Partition Assistant *may* help, but only if that's what the update fixed, and if the update actually fixed the problem. There's also the chance that something breaks, or just doesn't work right one time out of a hundred [or thousands].

If you're after safety, Before you do anything with partitions, perform a disk/partition image backup that you know you can restore.
