I must add that some antiviruses block the GAOTD setup.exe or even the zip package.

For sure, users have reported till now:
- avast
- avg
- Kaspersky

Solutions:
1) put the setup.exe in the whitelist of your antivirus
2) disable the real-time - on-access scanning, just the time to install the software
3) boot windows in safe mode with networking, just the time to install the software

Even though supposedly updated, this converter still needs many improvements, not much improvements since last year, compared many other all in one Downloader/Converters tried. I tested and tried this most current version using my Win 7 64-bit laptop with 6GB RAM, unlike other similar converters, this one keeps crashing my PC.
I  tested this converter on a couple of older 90's medium Non HD quality Youtube videos, (Which many online videos are in Non HD Quality)at this downloader"s highest quality 1080HD H.264 setting,  the output video quality , (was just okay) , nothing special, was hoping output quality would be better on this update,  **(Also I used all the the Enhance Options Avail)**, but still does not quite output as higher resolutions as similar advanced Downloader/Converters tried.
**( As my online reviews will show, I also emailed their Pre-sales and Support a few month ago, I inquired re: some of these output quality issues etc, and also (Super great basic features below) if possibly can be added to this converter in future releases.
Just another run of the mill company with non-existent support, no reply or response at all to any inquiries.
Even many FREE Downloader/Converters tried, at least respond to customer inquiries, and worked much better without crashing my pc etc.
Unless I missed,
(Need better hot features for this converter, not just the same old basic features that all the rest have, to at least standout from the huge Glut of Downloader/Converters on market)
*Video (fade out), feature mainly at end of video downloads, so do not have to use an addtl editor program,to do basic edit and re-encode just to fade out video at end,so all downloaded videos do not just end Un-smoothly, or abrubtly, at end of downloads trim point. *No Multi-trim or cut out several parts of same video
*No Video sound effect to max or boost video sound without clipping or distorting
*Much better Auto correct of online video resolution, lighting or sound problems

How do I set the bitrate higher than 2500 kbps and how do I set the resolution higher than 1280x720?

Roger T, use the ProRes HQ Video profile if you must. Bigger is not better though.

Roger T, I just found there are some 4K profiles too. 4096 x 2160 pixels, 50.000 kbps.

Wayne Interessierts, thanks for that... I just didn't see anywhere to set custom settings and didn't think to look elsewhere.

Which brings me to the question -- why can't a user make customs settings? Especially custom resolutions? for square video or some such.

Impressively quick on my machine. Needs only 11 to 15 minutes to convert 80 minutes DVD movies to MP4.

But it fails on aspect ratios of anamorphic material. 720 x 480 is nowhere near to 16:9. And 704 x 400 is not available as preset.

I'll stick with the free solution from DVDVideoSoft.

Why does some of the software i download from you give the the error that the file is corrupt. it only happens when the file includes the setup gcd file

Reply   |   Comment by Michael Willingham  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Michael Willingham,
It's, most likely, your antivirus software. In the past/present, a lot of viruses were named setup.exe. Also, it depends on the antivirus software you are using that is giving you a false positive. Recommendation: Delete the files you downloaded from here, temporarily disable your antivirus and then redownload the same zip file. Extract contents of zip file into and empty folder on your desktop. Run setup.exe and you should be good for the go. I use MSE and never have an issue installing. Also, be sure your setup.exe and gcd files are in the same folder before clicking on the setup.exe to install the software.

I was seeing a pop up just before registering that it is a trail version and can allow only upto 5MB conversion, if the file size is more than 5MB then it will be broken into parts of 5MB each.

Have I missed or messed something either in installation or reading otherwise?

In programming it is very simple for a developer to pay for the use of a component, audio editor, video converter etc.
And it looks like there's component going around for video converters, as a matter of interest it even has the same bug as many others, when attempting to change the video resolution, left most number cannot be removed.
The developer then just puts an interface around the component.

This is a nice and easy to use converter, one little niggle and that is the option automatically keep the output resolution to the original is not available.

The ability to enhance the video often works well but at others times it becomes blocky but fortunately the ability to stop the conversion early so you can view the quality of your output is possible.

Recently has seen an awful lot of people having problems installing software from site, I never have this problem using Panda Cloud antivirus. The only time I've ever experienced this problem was when I was running Zemana AntiLogger: what appeared to happen was as soon as the system attempted to run the setup file it was deleted but no warning was given. Of course to the user it appears that the setup file failed to do its job when it went through the install process whereas it never had a chance.
When this does happen checking that it has been installed or not can be easily accomplished with a superb search program that has become free since it was given away here a couple of years ago. A very fast and FREE search as it's indexed a link to it is available at the following:-

I am guessing this is a 1-year license based on the info via the AnyMP4 website which offers subscription of $55.00 for 1-year or $89.00 for lifetime.

Duration of software license?
Lifetime support maybe?
No FAQ on site.

Just a Very Concerned User,
The GOTD license is good forever, as long as you don't update the software. If the readme.txt file doesn't mention 1 year license then there is no time restriction. It's a different story if you decide to buy the software from their website. There you only have two options.
1. Buy this program for $55 for a 1 year subscription
or
2. Buy this program for $89 which is a lifetime license
If you are buying this, use the GOTD then use the 50% off coupon code (ANYGOTD) is for GOTD Users.
In other words, you could use the coupon code and buy this program for $45 for lifetime license.

QUESTION:
I am a little naive when it comes to "converters" although I have used them in the past. I have ConvertXtoDVD4 & 5 currently. I have used them in the past to put movies together and then burn to a DVD. WILL THIS program put them together and then leave me a copy of the movie on my laptop before wanting to burn? I am looking for something that will join small movies of my kids into 1 and then leave me a copy of that movie on my laptop before burning it to a DVD.

Thanks,
G

SUTHERNREDD, Freeware VSDC will do that. Google to find a download.

Reply   |   Comment by Dave  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

SUTHERNREDD,
AnyMp4 Video Converter is Pretty good But it's just a Converter only, but it does Convert to quite a few different Video formats, it comes in handy converting different video formats into the same Format, very handy for splitting and joining, (Video sizes, and other factors can be very Tricky when joining).

Dvd Creators or Blu Ray Creators are the best options for putting together small movies or videos Just like
ConvertX To Dvd your using or others like Wondershare, wondersoft, Leawo and Aiseesoft DVD (or Blu Ray)
Creator, just to name a few there are quite a few out there. I personally prefer ConvertX to Dvd 4 myself.
If you have Videos use Something like Boilsoft Video Splitter and a video joiner to join scenes together before
using a DVD Creator, that's if you want to Edit them of course, Sometimes the Tricky bit with splitting and joining is the Audio can be out of sync sometimes, When everything is ready to use a Dvd Creator.

I set my ConvertX to Dvd settings To: Encoding DVD-9
and under Burning i untick : Add "ISO File" destination to drive list. and Delete folder after Successful Burn.
That way ConvertX has created a Dvd Folder and it's still there if i want to burn it later, ConvertX will compress the movie if you choose Encoding DVD-5 to Normal size Single Layer Dvd if you want, But i Prefer
to load the created Dvd into Dvd Shrink and compress it with it also it can make it Region Free, so you can
send to Family or Friends in different country's so they can play them, if they want to see Family gatherings
etc. I almost forgot there are Video Creators etc you can use as well small example: Avidemux, Ashampoo
Videostyler, Proshow Producer and Aqua Soft Slideshow Premium. last two can make videos, but mainly
for Photos and Videos combined. Trick with any Program is Learning how to use Them. some of these
software have been given away on GOTD in the past a couple a free, can't remember which is which, just me Duh. Sometimes i spend days if not a week setting up some difficult videos from family members mainly
different Video camera's, (Different formats, Video Sizes and Video quality) A nightmare most times.
And i admit i am a Novice, but still learning by trial and error, But getting better at it every time i create home
movies. Just takes heaps of patience.

I hope some of my info helps, Others may have better advice to give. Cheers.
Mark

SUTHERNREDD,
Hi-there ...I also have ConvertXtoDVD to keep a copy on your PC or Mac simply un-check "burn result to DVD"..you'll find that in settings tabs the one for "burning"... .I do this all the time to check for quality issues in my home DVDS...plus side is you can later burn your dvd folder to create a dvd later on ...also if you wish any good quality media file converter can rip your VOB's into any format you wish if you want a copy to stay on your machine in a light-weight format ...like Mp4 or .MKV...even .AVI if you feel you'd like it somewhat wpuld be nice to pop it on a pen-drive and watch it from the "USB" port on a DVD player that has one and supports video from that port...
.....enjoy the adventure!!

Reply   |   Comment by Bambi  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Bambi, Before you give up, try disabling your antivirus temporarily and try again. For some reason, most antivirus programs give a false positive on the .gcd file (exactly why I don't know).

Regardless of the outcome, be sure your antivirus program is re-activated once you finish your attempts to install this - or any other - offering from GAOTD.

Wishing you success

At first time,I met the same problem just like you. Don't click the Activating page. Click it will lead you to the GAOTD site. Just wait about eight seconds, you can see the install page. Then you can get it on your computer.

Phil, I did not click on anything -- I just downloaded, unzipped and ran the setup.exe file and it does nothing. Even with AVG OFF. I give up. I really wanted this program, but I don't have time to play games today.

GAOTD seems to have tons of video editors and converters, so I will just wait for one that installs. (Or it could be this ^%$# Windows 10 on my new PC. Don't know, but everything else I have installed works right.)

mahaal,
Disable antivirus before downloading the zip file.
Make sure setup.exe and .gcd file are in the same folder (your desktop, for example)
Make sure you have an internet connection before launching setup.exe or it won't work.
Stay away from hiding your IP address programs while installing.
You can't install this particular offer offline.

smoothest setup ever - download link by email arrived at lightning, Win Defender check successful, installation with pre-pasted registration code, activation one click and done.
Lo and behold - a very familiar Aiseesoft, Wondershare or whatever GUI appeared.
Defining and saving my preferred output profile took no time whatever.
To me the software is self-explanatory and regardless of whatever name it is traded under it is always stable and fast, nothing to quibble about.

I am not worried about it not being a powerful editor.

The programme provides enough presets to guide a novice user to choose the most appropriate one and allows to create new presets based on the existing presets with altered user-preferred settings.

If you set your recorder, camera to the false output codec, viz. enormous resolution and bitrate and then decide way to large to handle, you should alter these settings and not re-encode.
Typically a converter is used to convert a media file to adapt to certain output equipment, i.e. from 4K TV to mobile phone.
Re-encoding does not improve the orginal quality, at best maintains it.

Thank you GOTD and for yet another concerter, this one went on my WIN10 tablet.

Sigrid.DE, Are you from the vendor side? After 5 very different convertions from the same video there was hardly a difference with te original. Deleted.

Reply   |   Comment by herkato  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-10)

herkato,
beg your pardon, from vendor side?
Because I find nothing wrong with this converter?
Never turn off any of my anti-virus software for successful installations, get links and registration codes usually without problems?
5 conversions and none worked or what? Just for the sheer hell of it I converted a standard YT mp4 1280 x 720 video to a lower resolution, frame-rate wmv file and not only is the file size smaller but some degradation is apparent.
Viewing high resolution, top-grade encoded files on a device with way less capability is no use whatever, nor is blowing up resolution too much ever any good.
Some background knowledge on media files, conversion, and file types (codecs) helps.
I for one do not expect the creme de la creme type of software ever to be given away, certainly not the sort of software that comes with real learning content.
I come from the world of picture editing and as videos are an incredible number of stills shown at a certain framerate I acquired the knowledge of formats suiting my devices.

One day when I have finallly won the missing €1,000,000 :-)) I'll lash out on the full Adobe range. Meanwhile I'll restrict it to poor woman's photography plan.
Affiliation with software that trades under at least 3 names? Now that would be way too taxing for me. One name forever, however much the GUI changes , is all I'm capable of.
Word is Word, Outlock remains Outlock, and so on.
Converters come and go!
Got it?

Sigrid.DE,

"... a very familiar Aiseesoft, Wondershare or whatever GUI appeared."

You can often tell a bit, or at least get a strong hint about many video apps by type casting, e.g. a visit to the app's web page shows an image from a film, & since that image would have gotten the attention of the MPAA & lawyers from the film studio, the fact that the image is there means it's more than likely a company & site in China. That means that the odds are probably in the 90% range that the software will fit into the same successful molds we've become used to, with the same general strengths & weaknesses. Some do perform in some ways better than others, some apps or versions may have bugs, & some apps may have added features, so they're often worth looking at & trying, assuming you want or need to do video conversions &/or like the video download capabilities in apps like AnyMP4 Video Converter Ult.

"this one went on my WIN10 tablet."

In case this might help at all... If your tablet uses an Intel CPU/GPU, you might want to try the LAVFilters in combination with the Codec Tweak Tool. It shouldn't matter with converters like AnyMP4 Video Converter Ult., but if you use the Codec Tweak Tool to set Windows to use the LAVFilters with Quicksync [for the Intel GPU], it *might* improve your video playback experience.

There are video converters &/or encoders that can use Quicksync to decode or encode the original video, but you'll often have quality issues. If you want to give it a try [it's avail. portable], you might want to look at A's Video Converter, which works primarily with AMD but also Intel GPUs. x264 & x265, the hugely popular free encoders used by themselves or included in packages like ffmpeg in most converters, do not really give much opportunity to use a GPU.

Yes, of course, this is a 10 inch low-budget WinTel dwarf, no more than an alternative to my Android pad except for hardware keyboard and the still not loved OS.
Without me being able to have the full Office 365 on it as the allowed second installation I would have never bothered with this baby Acer.

Yes, our inventive friends from the FarEast - deep breath and a sigh. As long as given away, no unwanted gifts dumped, I am not worried. With paid software I expect to get downloadable helpfile(s).
Way back I ripped Audios with ExactAudioCopy (EAC) conversion using lame codec. I knew and used TMPGEnc and ProjectX.
Programmers then had to be way more involved, but an awful number also left the scene when the big chase by Sony & Co started.

You could always boot into "Safe" mode with internet connection"
This assures you that all antivirus programs won't be running i.e. Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, your particular chosen antivirus, etc.
Once in safe mode, download the zip file then extract the contents of that zip file to your desktop.
Now you can run setup.exe to install this offer. Use the given reg key in the readme file to register.
I'm thinking your computer could be messed up in normal mode and is why you are having issues installing.
Let me know if this works for you.

This looks nice. But I want something that can convert videos to a lower bitrate format and keep the original file's creation date and time on the new converted file. This is for my dashcam videos which are just too huge in filesize - not enough compression - I want to convert them to smaller size files in the same resolution and keep the original file's creation date. This and other converters show I can convert the files to make them about 1/4 the filesize of the original file and keep about the same quality. The first program that I find that can be set to keep the original filedate, I will pay for.

S,
Somewhat false thinking on your part.
To prove ownership of the orginal file you too would prefer to have a copied/cropped/re-encoded file appropriately time-stamped.

S, The file date adds no authenticity. You should have date/time recorded/displayed on the video itself. Though this too can be manipulated.

S,

As Sigrid & Cranton have pointed out, re-encoding *may* raise questions about the videos' authenticity, but if that isn't a concern, why not just change the time & date properties of the files? There are utilities that do that, that you would use after re-encoding so the new files have the same date/time as the old.

mike, I can have 100 files from my dashcam. I cannot go one by one and redate the converted files. The program such as this that reencodes in a batch should easily be able to redate them to the original date as each file is finished converting.

All, I don't need authenticity - if I did for a particular dashcam segment, I would keep the exact original file of that segment. This reencode to a smaller filesize is just for me to keep. Why keep 64gb of files when I can smash them down overnight to 5 gb with nearly the same video and audio quality? But I still want the original file date/time on the converted files so I can keep them in order.

I use it to convert video formats. This software runs well, and I don't see any quality loss. It's really convenient. By the way, the converting speed is fast.

As I thought there is no option to encode the file to a target filesize. If I ever want to compress file to better format I would like to set/know the output size... Lat time i wanted to encode Blu-ray to 8GB DVD in best quality so that it fir the disc.
VidCoder is the application for you if you need this must have feature.

Dave,

"As I thought there is no option to encode the file to a target filesize."

That's something that some mpg2 encoders did well, but H.264/H.265 [if that's what you're using] can make it pretty difficult to do with good accuracy. Maybe if you add a comment with the format you want to use this way AnyMP4 might consider adding it?

Whiterabbit-uk,

Just found out tomorrows gamegiveaway is very large for an arcade game, weighing in at just under 1GB, so if you have a slow connection be prepared for a long download time, start downloading early.

Alexa,

Thanks for the update Alexa, appreciated. I checked just before games usually go live and Xotrix was still in the edit pile. Usually I find out at least 12 hours before they are due to be posted that they will be.

Unfortunately it's a l little late in the day to bother with any sort of review now as it can take me four or more hours to write up a review. by that time the game will have been live for almost half a day. Most regulars will have been and gone. I may still post some videos and images later if I get the time. thanks for the update. :)
