AnyMP4 Studio , you might like to mention that the giveaway is only for the 64bit build and so System Requirements also includes x64 Versions of Windows 7 and above and will not work on 32bit versions of windows!

AnyMP4 Studio , This is being promoted by GOTD as FREE for today only. But your message above says that is ONLY a coupon for 50% off. Bait & switch? Free or Fake? Which is it?

Reply   |   Comment by arrrrrrrrrrgh@hotmail.com  –  29 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-14)

krypteller, the installer is a 32bit executable but the contained binaries are 64bit... thankfully the generated uninstaller is 32bit like the installer so it will uninstall cleanly if installed on a 32bit system. There is no check in the customised Inno Installer for the OS bit depth or notice that it's for 64bit only so it blindly will install the 64bit program on both a 32bit Windows and a 64bit windows.

Dear arrrrrrrrrrgh@hotmail.com,
How do you understand the word 'free' in "Get Free Registration Code" in the instructions above from nyMP4Studio ?
The coupon is another offer, for anyone visiting this site (including sorry Snakeman and others visitors running a 32-bit Windows).

Reply   |   Comment by eb235  –  29 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

eb235, FREE means FREE, no charge, no cost. That's what FREE means in English. If it means something different in your language you should say what you mean. I assure you, in English Free means absolutely no charge, NOT a discount.

Reply   |   Comment by arrrrrrrrrrgh@hotmail.com  –  29 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-6)

arrrrrrrrrrgh@hotmail.com,
Same here. Here's what I mean :
I can vouch that I got a **free** registration code by following the instructions given above. I used this registration code to activate a copy of the software I downloaded from GOTD. That's the free (= no cost) part.
Now there's the advertising part of the deal, where you can get discount on software from AnyMP4 Studio. If you wish to buy.
It's curious you see only one side of the deal since it's a common occurrence here : software vendors often have a discount offer in addition to a giveaway. Have you really installed AnyMP4 Screen Recorder ?

Anyway, in my English, and your English, free also has another meaning as in free speech. So feel free to use or despise the discount but I assure you can get free, no cost software.

Reply   |   Comment by eb235  –  29 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+10)

arrrrrrrrrrgh@hotmail.com, Yes the 64-bit edition (as listed in system requirements) is free, but Snakeman and a few others, unfortunately, only have a 32 bit machine. So AnyMP4 is offering the same 50% GOTD discount that we can use for their other products, if the 32-bit edition meets his needs and will work.
So no bait and switch or fake.

AnyMP4 Studio, if the 32 bit users visit the web page launched by the 64bit giveaway builds activation wizard, and request the free license codes and gets them, will those codes work in the 32bit installer downloadable from your site or is that using different data in the product folder or a different authenication algorithm in the programs executable to the giveaway installer?

Good program, but no thanks. And fully respect the argument that a year free use before the program goes south is still a good deal.

Downloaded, registered and installed just fine using Revo Uninstaller (just in case) on on a 64bit Win10 system. Received activation code in my email in just a minute or so, and I tried a quick test. Ran a video from the Internet, selected a portion of the screen to record, and AnyMP4 recorded both audio and video just fine. Can record full screen or a portion of the screen. Doesn't have a ton of features, but seems to be easy to use.

Probably won't work with Netflix.

Reply   |   Comment by Bill  –  29 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Bill,

No reason just about any screen recorder wouldn't work with Netflix, since you're recording what's on screen, so DRM does not apply. Do bear in mind however that it uses some of your device's resources to play the video, and the resource requirements for encoding 1080p video can be quite high on their own. The H.264 & H.265 formats work well from the perspective that the files are small enough to write to disk in real time as you're recording, but both require a lot of processing horsepower. Many rigs won't have enough. Newer NVMe SSDs, particularly the new pci-e 4 drives, *may* be fast enough to let you use a less CPU intensive encoding format, but only if you have a newer motherboard that supports them.

My question for the developer is what makes this better than a well known, free and widely used product such as OBS Studio?

Reply   |   Comment by PhilS  –  29 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+14)

PhilS,

They have different purposes. AnyMP4 Screen Recorder Pro is designed to capture the screen, encode it to a video file, & write that file to disk. While OBS can certainly write video files to disk, it's primary intent is for video streaming. So which one is better? You'd probably be best off to test them both on your rig, doing whatever type of capture you need to do, and decide for yourself, because as the OBS docs note, performance varies a lot from one rig to the next.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  29 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

mike, I would have to disagree somewhat, having used OBS for a while to do exactly what this new offering is also doing.

It describes itself as "Free and open source software for video recording and live streaming".

So definitely a two horse product, which alone would set itself apart in terms of overall functionality, hence my question to the developer as a chance to set theirs apart and make it worth the time to try out.

Well, it downloaded and unzipped. It created a grouping in the Start Menu, then when clicked nothing happened. No GUI, no nothing. I uninstalled it but now I wonder if the Screen Recorder is actively recording me and sending my data to China.

Do you ever check out this software BEFORE you list it GAOTD?

If I find out this is sending my desktop to China, I'm going to sue you GAOTD.

Jipped Again,

do you ever check out company information before you install a GAOTD offer?
Have you ever heard of (professional) uninstallers?
Does the term "windows sandbox" mean anything to you?

Jipped Again,

"I wonder if the Screen Recorder is actively recording me and sending my data to China."

1st I'd stress that there's never been any malware on GOTD over the years, because yes, everything is tested.

That said... You could open Windows Task Mgr., or run Sysinternals Process Explorer to see what processes [apps] are running. You can also run Nirsoft Cports to see what's connecting to whom.

Simple question as I've installed so many of these so called screen recorders, that don't record your screen at all.
Thus before installing this one, can somebody tell me if it works....

I've tried dozens of different software packages that say they record your screen, but never do.

Does this work with Amazon Video? or Netflix As everything I've tried so far does not.

If it does actually record said screen, then I will download, but if its another one that just pretends to record your screen whilst Amazon or Netflix is on, then I will give it a pass.

The only one that works so far is the Game Bar App, but that's because its built into Windows 10 Pro.

Just getting feed up of this mis representation and false marketing.

Does this actually record the screen or not?

Kind regards
Richard

Richard Sebire, Have not tried this one, tho did test the Apeaksoft one offered recently and it works for my purpose to record game play. Even on games that gave me trouble to capture like those from MS Store. I could not adjust to the game bar app in win10.

Richard Sebire,

"Does this work with Amazon Video? or Netflix As everything I've tried so far does not."

AnyMP4 Screen Recorder Pro should be capable enough, but if nothing's worked so far, your hardware probably isn't up to the task.

Using Amazon's video as example, your device uses some of its resources to open the web browser, & more resources to decode & display video in that browser, plus it has to decode & send the audio stream to your audio hardware so you hear something, all while handling the DRM, which itself takes some processing.

Now you want/need to capture what's displayed on screen, encode that data so that it can be written to a video file, encode the audio data as well, then write them both to disk in real time so you don't lose any frames and maintain audio sync.

That's an awful lot to ask your PC or laptop to do, especially if you're trying to record video at something like 1080p. The hard drive you're writing to needs to be Fast, and should be separate from the one with Windows on it. You should have the bare minimum of processes running, because you need every hardware resource you have available. A graphics card, rather than a GPU built into the CPU helps, and the more expensive it is, probably the better. The code to capture & encode the audio & video needs to be both fast & efficient, and you need a pretty powerful CPU, e.g. an Intel i7 can work. Or you can just buy game capture hardware -- there's a very real reason why they sell so many capture cards & boxes -- but you should research the DRM aspects beforehand.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  29 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+13)

mike,

It’s Amazons and Netflix’s DRM. Even though the video is full screen, nothing records with anything. Totally blank video.

I have an i7 hand made PC. Totally silent, fanless, and it runs in 4K minimum.
So 1080 isn’t a problem. It’s the DRM.

None of the screen capture tools can record the streams with DRM, well the dozen or so I’ve tried so far anyway.

Thanks for the advice about the capture box’s. They might actually work, but with the DRM embedded in the stream, I doubt it.

Keep up the good work Mike, it’s nice to see another regular name here.
