So frustrated. This looked liked an outstanding program, Installed with no problem then ran it (Win 7) and it says I need the latest version of ITunes installed, which I double checked and I do..no newer updates available, and the Adoreshare software just crashes. I can't even get to the point to input the GOTD serial and username.
Maybe it's because I have my itunes installed on a different drive or under a different folder??? If this is the case can you alter the program information so we can get this to run?
Thanks.

I can't get the .exe file to work on windows 8. It opens and then that's it, no activity. And since it isn't clear on if iTunes needed to be installed beforehand, I went ahead and installed the latest version. prior to running the .exe file.
Glad I get to miss this deal. I really would've enjoyed this product and would've recommended it to my friends who I know are looking for something like this......

It tells me I need to install iTunes, even though I have the latest version installed. Then crashes.

I think that this is not working with Windows 8.1. I applied the compatibility without success. It only works on the background, but the windows doesn't open. If someone found a solution, please let me to know about. Thanks.

I updated iTunes. Found that launching this app will freeze up and can't kill it in processes under Windows Task Manager without attempting to load and failing to load iTunes first. After I kill iTunes, I can then kill this app in Task Manager. Then I can successfully re-launch this app. However, like others it will only make a very small output file between 34kb and 300kb. It seems that it has difficulty playing well with iTunes. I know this is free offer, but if it can't work, I certainly would never pay the absurd $80 price they ask for it on a normal day.
I have even tried running it with iTunes open (which it instructs you not to do) and get the same result.

No iTunes for me. I would not tolerate iTunes.
The only Apple computer I liked was an old Apple II. Ironically, it was then the upstart that was breaking barriers and IBM was the controlling monster. Remember the Macintosh advert of the female athlete throwing the hammer into the screen? Today Apple has become the controlling monster 10 times worse than IBM was.
The total control situation is so bad that shops offer services to "jail break" the iPhone that you buy from Apple.

I read the comments and thought the program sounded handy and would give it a try.
I downloaded the program and tried to install it on a Windows 8.1Pro 64bit pc - NOT in a virtual drive.
On completion of the installation, before I could register it, I received a message "No iTunes installed in your computer. Please install the newest iTunes firstly". I checked my iTunes installation which said "This version of iTunes (12.1.2) is the current version".
Please get back to me before the end of the day with a solution or I am afraid I will have to uninstall it and conclude that it is not worth using.

We don't own anything Apple, & have never used iTunes, so like Karl I can't say anything about how Adoreshare M4V Converter Genius works. However this might still help... [Hope so anyway :) ]
Here's a basic article on iTunes DRM - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FairPlay
After a very quick bit of research using Google, it seems that it was possible to remove iTunes DRM using free software, but the preferred tool, Requiem, is no longer developed, & Apple updated their DRM in any case so it would no longer work. The way it works supposedly is that a unique key is generated when you 1st buy from iTunes, that key is stored on your PC/laptop or device, & DRM using that key is added to the audio download by iTunes servers [it's the audio that's encrypted in video as well].
Free, open source software used that key stored on your system to let you save an unencrypted iTunes download, though you often had to convert that saved audio to a more usable format. And it seems it would only work with content you had purchased from iTunes.
At least some paid software worked [works?] the same way, though maybe because the source code isn't available, I did not see any confirmation of this. It's equally possible some iTunes DRM removal software works like more generic DRM removal tools, by simply recording the playing audio & video. All it takes is screen capture software, though DRM removal software may make it easier, e.g. may not use as much of your hardware's resources playing the video, so more is available for recording. Many people can't record playing audio, & special driver software to enable that may also be included.

From what I tried this is a M4V converter only. I installed and tried to convert a m4v from iTunes. The converted formats of MPEG (both MPEG-1 and MPEG2)and WEBM files failed to play in both VLC and Zoom Player Pro. I tried all of the other video formats, all seemed to play in one or the other. The video I converted can be downloaded by anyone, it's titled "Bonus Video:Words", from the August 9, 2010 podcast "Radiolab from WNYC".

Dual-boot here - was actually going to use the program here, but I do NOT use iTunes & have NO intention of installing ANY more big brother to my computer - I own over 1100 LP's Cassettes CD's & have been taping radio for years - if I don't have my favorite song by now I never will. O'ya - the movies, I just retired out of owning a DVD/BluRay Rental store & I am having a hard time selling the 8000+ discs I already have. My wife & I now buy TV series (start to finish or ones we really like & we seem content with that. Sorry I couldn't have been helpful today, but your program won't even start without iTunes - how do I uninstall from a PHYSICAL hard drive? Never mind I think I can handle it. HAGD & Thanks GOTD

How do you purchase iTunes M4V drm-protected movies without iTunes?

Only wish I could install ANY GAOTD offering since "upgrading" to Win 8.1. Can't get past setup, unless I reboot into Safe mode!

You *might* want to search the forum, Fin, as there's been a fair amount of discussion on this. Win8/8.1/10 are not the problem, as those are used by many thousands of GOTD visitors daily.

Why is it necessary to install iTunes to use this program?
Save | Cancel
The Very short answer is that 1) if you don't have iTunes you likely have not purchased iTunes video needing DRM removal, & 2) a bit of quick research suggests that removing that DRM requires it.

Using Win 8.1 Pro w. Media Centre v6.3.9600 & iTunes 12.1.2. Program installed and registered fine but crashes as soon as I try to convert a purchased iTunes M4V movie. Can anyone offer advice?

VERY much a guess, you might try disabling GPU assist.

Downloaded and installed the program on Windows 8.1 without any problem. It seems likely to support Windows 10, so I'm a bit curious about how it works on preview build. I tested one of my purchased iTunes Movie, the encryption and conversion is faultlessly and the output MP4 quality is pretty good. And it enables me to merge several clips of M4V videos so I can finish my favorite TV show at one go. BTW, I'm the type of person who usually backup my beloved videos in case of damage or loss. I found that this program would interwork well with my beloved free dvd authoring tool - WinX DVD Author (DVD backup believer/buff refers to >> http://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-author/) . After removing the DRM of my purchased iTunes M4V videos, I can freely burn these video files to DVD discs for my personal collection. All in all, thank you GOTD & Adoreshare.

This gives me the chance to answer some comments to yesterdays software.
I would like to answer each comment, concerning my comment or detailed questions. I have hardly the time to write my comment each morning. Sometimes I am too busy to find any time at all. During the day, I have other tasks. So if you don't read an answer - not have had the time for it.
Some concerns yesterday to IOBIT System care and Deep Freeze or TimeFreeze or whatever software in this direction.
Deep Freeze does nothing else than REDIRECT each WRITE to the system partition to a reserved space. Nothing else. No RAM is used for a parallel system running in a "virtual mode", because there isn't a parallel system with other drives or other software. Each software works at any time with the normal Win OP system. Only, when it writes (changes) a content, this is done with a pointer to a reserved and fully transparent space.
If IOBIT does not recognize files or folders this has to do with not correct handled access rights or privileges. Other SIS (system information systems) report everything correct (of course, if programmed correctly). Yesterdays faulty RAM size was a wrong reporting of the used RAM and a non existing pagefile.sys. With plenty of RAM I generally disable the pagefile.
And if I write "no name&adress" I mean the names of the responsible persons, contact partners and not the "trademark"
I wish you a good start in this (here in Germany sunny) week

@Sarah: I assume that Karl has no iTunes on his system and only for testing the converter, I think that he will not install iTunes.

Folks, think about this. These super talented and generous people are offering an $80 program for free! Now maybe it is not for everybody, but take a moment and look at this:
#1 couldn't install it on his VISTA Computer! What!!? REALLY?? ARE WE JOKING? I wonder if it would work on an XT? At this moment 28 people voted thumbs up in agreement! What?????
#2 installed it without a problem. #2 got 3 votes because he COULD INSTALL...and one was mine!
Not good in math but my guess is 28/2 is > than 10 to 1. (Wheres my calculator..)
Programmers don't write software that people pay big bucks for that they cannot install! People, it is cognitive! God sake Nedheads go somewhere else please for the future of this web site. If you agree or even disagree with the above, please vote my comments.

Downloaded and installed twice on Windows Vista. Both times program crashes when trying to open. Uninstall

Vista can be quite "quirky" about installing and running software.
1: I would suggest, fully uninstalling it.
2: Reinstall it "as Administrator" (Right Click menu). A Vista quirk I have encountered.
3: Before running it, I would suggest running the compatibility mode checker.
4: It may need to be "Run as Administrator" once installed. Another Vista quirk I have encountered.
The company developing the software may know these procedures, many uses of Vista don't know them, or about Vista's quirkiness. They may have been unable to test the software on a Vista platform, so lighten up. It might be that it's a small company, doing the best they can, and may or may not tested the software on Vista.
Developing software, even for the largest of companies can be fraught with problems. (Does anyone remember Windows "ME"?)
I rest my case.
Peace out!
