Home page Requirements Net framework 4.0 is not enough, netfw 4.5 requires setup after running the setup.

I had no problem downloading the file from the GOTD site, however, each time I try to run the setup.exe file, I get the following error: "Error while communicating with the server. Installer will now abort."
How do I resolve this?

Hi Craig. :-)
Probably your firewall is blocking unknown connections.
What to do? Set your firewall in the correct way, or use a simpler firewall that do that for you.

Every watermark can be removed if the mark is layered as separate layer, therefore, useless watermark.
If you really want to make a watermark that can not be removed, you have to superimpose the watermark into the pixels of the picture by joining the watermark and the picture into a third picture as one new picture and save it.

Sett,
Could you please explain how one can to that. It would be awesome to learn how to "superimpose the watermark into the pixels of the picture by joining the watermark and the picture into a third picture as one new picture".
Thank you in advance.

consuella

Sett,
The "layer" you choose for the watermark is only within the program. A third/new pic is saved as you suggest.
Also, JPG doesn't allow multiple layers like PSD files, so they're flattened into one layer upon saving.

It is activated but not installed. What to do?

The download failed to actually install on Windows 7, 32 bit even though I got the report back that it was activated; had to download from publisher's hompage, install that then run setup in the GOTD download.
Installed alright on Windows 10, 64 bit.
Both installations (different computers) give an occasional Unhandled Exception Error - "Null Reference Exception Object Reference not set to an instance of an object." at System.Drawing.Bitmap.ctor(Image original) and 5 further lines.

Here is the full 32-bit error report:

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

As luck would have it, I was actually looking for a batch watermarking tool recently. Sadly, this one seems not to be ready for prime time. I keep getting out of memory/unhandled exception errors on my Win 10 pro machine..

Though expending time and effort on re-inventing the wheel may appeal to some developers, expending actual cash on such re-invention may have much less appeal to software users -- as is the case here, with PCWinSoft and its astonishingly over-priced Image Watermarker 1.0.1.
Happily for those interested in such an app, the developer is making it available free of charge for 24 hours, courtesy of GOTD. Image Watermarker 1.0.1. therefore joins the ranks of similar software from two major, widely respected developers:
Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/
(video tutorial here): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQyGG9Zf0XU
and FastStone: http://faststone.org/download.htm
(video tutorial here): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQyGG9Zf0XU
There is, however, a notable difference between PCWinSoft's offering and those from FastStone and Irfanview. Not only are the latter's programs more useful, and more comprehensive, than the one-trick Image Watermarker 1.0.1. , both are free of charge today, tomorrow, and every day.
The 'batch image watermark' wheel has, in fact, been turning at Irfanview and FastStone for many a long year, so why today's developer thinks there's a future for its own $40 re-invention is baffling.
As freeware today, it's worthy of consideration by those with time enough to install it . . . but at $40 for a future re-install? The developer needs to seriously re-think what it's trying to do here with this commercial product. Thanks, GOTD, and thanks, PCWinSoft. But no thanks.

MikeR, I have FastStone, and it's great all around photo tool. I know it can watermark individual images, but you're saying it can batch watermark?

Really well designed program. Uses layers to add as many watermarks or text entries as you want. Comes with a very useful gallery of images. No picture loss between original and watermarked copy. Allows saving final image in many different formats. (ie: .jpg, .bmp, etc.)
This is a truly useful program. Many thanks to GAOTD & PCWinSoft!!!
