A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I owed a righteous software called Bryce. Unfortunately, that G4 Mac has since gone to the Big iOS in the sky (after 11 years of faithful service) and along with it, Bryce. :'( Now I am on a PC and this program is going to make me very happy because I love creating 3-D!! Thank you so much for the giveaway!! :D

OK, download, install and registration on Widows 10 done without a hitch. Serial # wasn't emailed to me. Once I submitted my account registration, the serial # was there. I saved the screen cap w/serial # because I can't seem to find where it's located within the program.

So far the only thing I'm confused on is downloading the G5 outfits from the website. Within the program, I drag the character I want to use as my base into the scene and that opens a webpage showing me outfits (http://www.reallusion.com/event/11-iclone5-bonus/g5outfit/default.asp) and when I go to the bottom of webpage and click the link "long in to download," I'm taken to the login screen but then when I log in, I'm taken to a page to register my software (which I've already done within the software but I do it again anyway). It then gives me a pop up saying basically, successful. But never am I taken to the outfits to download them. When I repeat the process, I'm still asked to register the software. I can go directly into the store but can't figure out how to get these G5 outfits, that it appears should download if all I do is log in.

It's late. I'll try creating something tomorrow. :)

There seems to be 2 versions installed: 32 and 64 bits!
Can I uninstall the unnecessary 32 bit folder (...iClone5\bin)?

To be honest, I can't imagine anything I'd be comfortable using this for. The output seems like 1993 - somewhat cheesy. Just because you have a tool doesn't mean you can build a house. Just not that into cartoonish cartoons.

I think, as with any 3D software, it depends on the designer.

Did you download the IC5_Enu_Resource_Pack.exe and install? You should have gotten a pop up saying to experience the full effect of iClone5, you need this. I'm still downloading it but I wonder if the heads are in there.

Installing on Windows XP. Learned that after you unzip the file from GOTD you go to the website in the read.txt file. From there, you create an account, if you don't already have one. Once you click on the link to verify your email address, you log into the site. Once logged in, close the other windows, and go back to the webpage mentioned in the readme file. This time when you click on login, it will log you in, and give you the serial number for the product. From there, you click on the setup icon from GOTD to set up the program, and copy and paste the serial number. From there it should install.

I am not installing this on a virtual machine!

There are apparently 2 conditions under which this error occurs. One, your are installing iClone in a virtual machine, and two, the iClone install is taking place on a Windows 8 or 10 with Hyper-V support on. You have to go and turn that feature off. Here is detail.

After you create an account and get a "Reallusion Membership Activation" email, go to:
http://www.reallusion.com/event/iClone5std/giveawayoftheday.aspx
and log-in to get the registration key.
Thanks Dave :) Went there and FINALLY got a serial number, and now I'm being told the serial number is incorrect. This has got to be the most complex and messed up giveaway I've ever seen to register. Beginning to wonder if all this is even worth it. Going by all this back and forth and searching definitely isn't helping lean me into the direction of buying any of their other software.

Reply   |   Comment by Levitiquetus  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

After you go to the above website to get the serial key, start the install. If the install is started and running, the serial will not work. simply close out and restart the install and the serial number will work and it will finally install. After it's installed, it will say it blah blah blah resource pack. You can download if you want, but it will work without it.

Has anyone else had a problem with receiving the product serial number ? I can’t find it anywhere. I went through all the steps, and still can’t find it. I sent the company a email about it, and I received an email saying the response time currently lies between 2 to 3 business days. All I am asking is, has anyone else had this problem, or can someone please tell me where it is hiding and I can go from there. Thank you, Brian.

Reallusion site indicates program is compatible with Windows 10. Install of iClone recommends install of Directx 9. My Windows 10 and most others (due to Microsoft automatic updates) are currently at Directx 12 so to avoid conflict I ignored install of Directx 9. Starting the program with Directx 9 not installed results in errors that indicate the Directx 9 dlls are missing and the start fails.

There should be no conflicts with older versions of Directx.

After some research, the consensus seems to be that multiple versions of Directx can exist simultaneously without conflict. It also seems that there is no "backward" compatibility re the higher version per se, because a given program needs a particular version to function. I uninstalled iClone, created a restore point, reinstalled iClone with Directx 9, rebooted without a problem, and lastly started iClone without a problem. 3 hours later so far so good!

There appear to be additional add-on downloads on the registration page.

It also appears you need to be connected to the Internet to use it, at least to start it.

I just installed the program on my computer running Windows Vista and it works great even though Reallusion says it requires "Windows 7 SP1/ 8/ 10".

I do meet all of the other specs though, Dual core, 4GB, 1024x768, etc.

"no windows 10 support it says no support for virtual systems ???? and it's not virtual it's windows 10 pro"

Maybe check with Reallusion support &/or Google for similar problems? Software can check for the presence of certain files or processes that would be typical in a VM, then act accordingly. I'd guess that something's triggering a false positive, e.g. some VM software file, even though you're not in a VM.

""Windows 7 SP1/ 8/ 10". I have Windows 8.1, so does that mean this program will not work on my machine?"

Just generic & very common laziness perhaps, 8 is normally understood to mean 8.1, especially since 8 is officially sort of dead.

This is a seriously awesome giveaway, I'm delighted to see it, ty. I Clone is a solid animation tool with a pretty big learning curve. First instinct for people unfamiliar with this sort of software is to get discouraged and give up, but don't! Once you get the hang of it it's quite fun :)

Installed easily onto Windows 10 64 bit.

It looks as though there will be a fairly steep learning curve, but having played with it for an hour or so, I must confess to being a bit excited by this one. It has some nice features and looks as though it may be very useful. I may have to get a copy of Crazy Talk, but that's a choice I will make after a bit more experimenting.

A keeper for me, Thank you GAOTD and Reallusion.

Great software for 3D animation, can be a steep learning curve.
I had version 4 sometime ago, read the EULA, if it is the same as version 4 any animation you create is for pesonal use only! if you upload to youtube and monatize it you have to pay for a licence!

Reply   |   Comment by Pete  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

In the EULA for this one it says that you can sell and use your output commercially, unless I read it wrong. Putting short videos on my website and YouTube is what I intend to use it for, so I hope I'm right!

I just found the bit I was looking for -
"Reallusion grants you a non-exclusive Royalty-Free license to display Content within your iClone and/or CrazyTalk movies. You may generate, sell and redistribute your movies created with iClone and/or CrazyTalk with full ownership and use-rights to the output media in Image or Video format within the output guidelines of this agreement. "
Hope it helps.

Setup was a little more complex than the readme file explained. Here's what worked for me:

1. Download and extract the zip file.
2. Open readme.txt, copy the URL and go to website.
3. Do not click on log-in now. Instead below "Not a Reallusion member yet" click on "register here first."
4. Create an account, then wait for "Reallusion Membership Activation" email and click on enclosed link.
5. Then go back to: http://www.reallusion.com/event/iClone5std/giveawayoftheday.aspx and log-in to get the registration key.
6. Now run setup.exe and enter key.

"You can create in-house animations by moving the bodies in front of the Kinect Motion Capture system to produce customized motions."

Today's version is 5 Standard and any features associated with motion capture are reserved for the Pro version only, as seen here in the comparison page: http://www.reallusion.com/iclone5/iclone_matrix.aspx

Also, version 5 Standard retails for $79.95, not $99.00 which is the cost for version 6 Standard, as seen here:
http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/iclone_matrix.aspx

Aside from these posting errors remains a very powerful 3D animation program with a solid import/export feature set that is identical for both Standard and Pro alike, and makes a fine tool if you want to explorer movie making, or compliment your video production tools with something extra from a reputable animation company.

To be sure, the Pro versions amount to special hardware support and use of professional plugins which does not hinder what the Standard version can do. To me, the word 'Standard' is not even necessary for a very capable baseline product.

Thanks GOTD and Reallusion for making today's giveaway a creative and fun-filled experience!
