Every day we offer FREE licensed software you’d have to buy otherwise.
BigMIND DR Local Basic (Win&Linux) was available as a giveaway on July 14, 2026!
BigMIND DR is a simple, reliable way to protect your computer — system, apps, settings, and files — from hardware failure, ransomware, accidental deletion, and data loss. Unlike basic file backup, it lets you back up a full system image, restore single files, or rebuild an entire machine after a crash — even on new hardware. Your backups stay on your own drive, USB, or NAS. No expensive hardware, no complicated setup.
Whether you're a home user, solo professional, small office, or growing business, BigMIND DR gets you back up and running fast.
Windows 10/ 11 (Windows x64 and ARM64 systems); Windows Server 2016 and later; Linux desktops: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and later, Debian 11 and later, Linux Mint, Pop!_OS, and elementary OS; Linux servers: Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS and later, and Debian 11 and later; Supports native .deb installers for Ubuntu and Debian-based distros

For Linux use Timeshift. For Windows use Aomei Backup Standard. Both free.

@Annoying Mouse Hasleo Backup Suite is exactly what you are asking for. Very simple to use. Installation file size is 40 MB. The latest version is V5.8.2.2. Many freeware sites have it listed for download. Also available from Hasleo site: https://www.easyuefi.com/backup-software/backup-suite-free.html.
Cheers

Got the key but can't create an account. Get an client-side application error message all the time. Installed the program but can't get past the 'sign in' message to run it.

I use Hasleo Free works great.

It says it is stored on your local computer or USB but when installed it says it is cloud storage. That is not what the description in the add says in the DOTD

Started doing all the instructions on Firefox, when I get to last bit, it opens Edge!
This is the biggest faff of any installation I have ever done. So does this agent thing have to be running all the time?

Dr Me, Oh dear! Just read should have been installed as Admin. Too late now!

Dr Jess Shapero,
Just copy it into another browser and it will work.
I used Chrome to copy it into.
Good luck & enjoy! :)

On the BigMIND website it says "30-day retention." What does that mean?
It sounds like my backup is good for only 30 days, and after that I have to do it again.

Bruce Fraser, Looks like it's a checkpointing system, with the free offering rolling 7 daily, and the basic (giveaway) offering 14 12 hour interval plus 4 weekly. More a software / malware breakage recovery than a true backup, for go back rather than keeping

Unfortunately it doesn't support Windows 7.

Simply type this in any AI, like Perplexity or ChatGPT:
"Find freeware for Windows (or your computer, MAC, Linux...) that can make exact image and restore it without much technical knowledge."
And for further help, type:
"And help me install (NAME) and configure it, like a newbie"
There is also Easus Backup (Search it) that does that. I've been using the free version for years without any problem.

I've used redo for many years. It's basic but never failed

I get this when trying to create an account: Application error: a client-side exception has occurred while loading bigmind2.genie9.com (see the browser console for more information).

Andras, I'm getting the same error. I got past the signup page error by turning off my ad blocker. That didn't work for the 2nd step in the signup process, but going back a page did. Weird. Anyway, I now have a registered lifetime license and see the dashboard.

Andras, It seems to be working fine today. I hope you were able to install before the GOTD offer expired.

For windows 11, anyone knows any freeware software that can make exact image and restore it without much technical knowledge? The Gotd software size is an issue for me.

Annoying Mouse, the package contains both installers, Win and Linux, so it's 300 MB each. If you like open source, there's Rescuezilla.

Annoying Mouse,
Aomei Backupper Standard is always free, and will do that nicely.
