Problem with converting wma files to mp3. Email sent to Daniusoft Support Center:

Trying to convert my WMA files to MP3. Keep getting "Device error" on all files. What gives. Just got this software. Also, just bought the upgrade (Pro) online, but if this is not going to work, I need my money back.

I'm fairly new to GAOTD. Over the last 6 months I've tried about 15 of the giveaways. This is only the third one I've kept. Registration and setup were flawless. The user interface is the most intuitive of the ones I've downloaded. And it does everything I currently need. Extremely easy to use.

Installed okay. Very limited in what can be converted, no FLV input. It also seemed to stop YouTubeGet from functioning as a converter.

Tried a couple of times (Vista 32). Did not succeed. Later I should only try to DL programs that are easy to install. This one was to much hassle.

A good program from what many says.

But I have to ask myself : If a program -made by professionals, is made so hard to install : how is the program itself programmed ?

Would appreciate a program that does the same as this (or more) and even pay. But not from this company. Sorry.

GAOTD is a wonderfull concept. Visit the site every day. Allready looking forward to the nextgiveaway.

Finally, one of these that works! I've gotten several video converters from GAOTD, but this is the first one that actually gets the sound right. Lots of pops and whistles in the others. Thanks.

Doesn't say so, but it doesn't seem to work with iTunes 7. Since most people will have likely upgraded already, this shouldn't be a problem for those who have. But for someone like me who hasn't bothered yet, it is a bit of a pain upgrading just for this. I'm now waiting for iTunes 8 to download, so I can see if it will convert the files I want it to.

Hello every-one. This prog, is the FIRST successful install I've had from GAOTD. Every previous one got flagged by (both) A/V & A/S. No probs yet--will say later, if it 'craps-out'.
Question: Where didja'all see the "$9" up-grade @ their site?? Apparently, I can't see well..??

Thx, KBR

Thanks, the Media converter can convert some music files well, but it can not run on Mac. I share some free video converter for Mac users. I’ve used these myself and I know they work, and they’re FREE:

Media Converter twice in a row crashed my XP SP2 after it finished previewing a .wmv file.
Clicking on Support in Media Converter's drop-down Help menu sends one's browser to a page where the technical support "Online Form" link returns a "File Not Found" error, as do the "Return key code" and FAQ links. Starting at Daniusoft's home page, however, and selecting Support takes one to support page where the links /do/ work.

I downloaded the program. Checking out the specifics on this verses the $9 upgrade, this one only converts from a few standard formats to a wide range of formats. I needed a converter that would covert my Verizon video files (for some reason they have a 3g2 extension). I purchased the upgrade. The 3g2 wasn't listed however if I select all files and then select the file, it will convert it to other formats (mp4, mov, wmv). The 3g2 file successfully converted to all of these formats (I had to change the resolution to its lowest setting since they are videos from a cell phone ... higher resolutions made the pictures dissolve to large square pixels for obvious reasons).

You can try the pro version for free for 30 days but I'm not sure what the limitations are outside of the 30 day thing. I upgraded it before playing with the unregistered version. Unlike another video converter (which shall go nameless) I instantly got the emailed registration code. With the other (nameless) video converter, after several emails with no response, I had to go through Pay Pal and tell them my grievances (since I paid through Pay Pal). Daniusoft immediately sent me my registration code hassle free.

Overall, the product is what I need. The pro has "taller" drop downs as compared to this version. The taller dropdowns include descriptions of the audio/video types (ex: mp2 for television format, high quality video etc etc). There are several categories of each video type, making finding the one you want very easy: You select the category and then get a list of video formats for that category. Over all, I'm fairly impressed with design of the menu.

Definitely two thumbs up.

- JUNK. Only installs as Admin. Only RUNS as admin. Or I should say it won't activate unless I install AND run it as admin. I don't run applications as admin ... if it won't run as a normal user then you couldn't pay me to use it, regardless of what it does.
- JUNK. Daniusoft needs to join this century and realize people don't all run with full admin rights at all times.

I've been being a regular customer of Daniusoft for 2 years, I've trailed & bought many Daniusoft's products, really glad to see so much approval here on it.
According to my expirence, the Pro is the best one with all-round function by supporting nearly all the regular formats, especially on removing DRM, it's amazing!

Whoever keeps leaving the device manager solution to "device error", my xp sp2 device manager doesn't look like you describe. You'd think the driver would install with the program, or Daniusoft would make the solution easy to find. I've been looking for a free program that batch records to defeat drm, but this isn't working for me. Very disappointing.

Interesting...installed on a laptop with a Celeron, it pegged the CPU, and the conversion was done quickly. So I tried on a Core2 Duo laptop, the CPU barely moved, and the process is taking a looong time.

Tried running Activate.exe with admin rights, before installing the program then rebooted the PC, ran activate again but still did not see registration message under About menu so uninstalled it. For everyone having “device error” problems your not installing the WS Audio driver. To do so you need to go to your Device Manager and scroll down to your Sound devices and add the driver manually. Tell Windows you have a legacy driver you wish to install and wish to install it from a list. Choose sound video option and tell it you have the disk. Choose the browse button then go to wherever you installed your Daniusoft Music Converter program which for most is gonna be something like C://Program Files/Daniusoft Media Convertor and the driver is in the file there called Virtual Driver, open it and click on the driver and Windows will install it for you.

Just changes the "device error" to an "authentication error"

There are much better converters around for the same price as this one. Some are even freeware.
The soft offered supports many formats to convert to but not many to convert from. Also, this program is made in China and even uses some chinese-made codecs. It may be of questionable quality. I would avoid using chinese software unless you cannot find anything better.
Tried converting MPEG4 to XVID. Doesn't support converting from MPEG4. Uninstalled. Thumbs down from me.

XP SP3 (32 bit)

Installed correctly, runs fine, absolutely no problems, the test files I used all converted correctly (MP3 to WMA, WMA to MP3, WMV to AVI and MPeg2) (multiple of each so not flukes), also removed DRM protection from one, pleasantly surprised.

Not the biggest range of file types in a converter that I've seen, that honour goes to Xilisoft's converter, but still good.

This is well worth the price (FREE), and I am seriously considering upgrading to PRO.

The UI is friendly, and isn't covered with cartoon characters (cough extra video converter cough)

Worst thill now !

Tried to install. Got the "30 days.." So far not a big problem. Tried to uninstall. Still having the name in the controll panel. Looks like they wanted hard to sell the pro-version.

Was on the registration form, filled up and ready, but decided not when they claimed som 3 dollars extra for using Paypal. Problems to registrer. Problems to uninstall.

GAOTD is a good place. This was waste of time. Comming back over and over again. But mould be more carefully/picky what reach my computer.

I batch converted some *.wmv files with drm protection. It cleaned them right up and thje output file was perfect. I then spent the $9 for the pro version to clean up some *.avi files that would not correctly support seeking. Again it came through like a champ.

Thanks GOTD

Would not do what I'd hoped.
It would not convert DRM protected 4OD files to a suitable format for my Blackberry Curve!
Unprotected .wmv files however converted perfectly.
Conversion of most files is fine and has great, tweakable settings to suit most devices but would not convert 4OD DRM files.
What I was hoping for!
Also, its apparent incompatibility for recognising .avi files seems a bit poor.
A fantastic UI but poor compatibility make this a great download for some and useless for others.
Designed so narrowmindedly for ipod users and outdated DRM management makes this, in my opinion, a thumbs down!
However, well done GAOTD for a great step towards DRM removal support!
