Foobar2000 FTW! Leave this kinda BS software alone when you can get a million times better audio player for free.

Too many free software can do it better. 20 USD is much too expensive.

Gonna be contrary. :)

This works great on Vista Ult x64. I like having a separate application for MP3. This one hardly uses any system resources. (Check it with Anvir, TaskMan, or Sysmon.) The full-featured Audio/Video players everyone raves about, like WinAmp, WMP (even my favorite mplayerc.exe from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Media_Player_Classic.htm), use way more resources. I have them on my system too, but this is *GREAT* if I just want a lightweight music player with no resource footprint to speak of while programming or watching video on another app with the sound track off.

To be fair, I wouldn't pay $20 for this. And the UI is quirky with no right-click or hovertext functionality. Not even a menu bar, LOL. But that's part of the minimalist charm of this one-trick pony.

It plays MP3! That's all it does!!!!!!! That's all I want sometimes! So there!

THANK-YOU GAOTD!

Not impressed with this one installed and uninstalled all in 5 minutes
Here we are again on the weekend and no games I thought that the games not being during the week was only going to be temp. looks like perm. and looks like your going to get rid of em all together..
I do appreciate all the programs that you do ofer but I would love to see the games return and be here on a more regular basis. instead of this hit & miss stuff..
Thanks to Stephen a.k.a. WhiteRabbit there has been something here for those of us that really enjoy the games..

Ah hem. May I point to something extremely suspicious about this piece of software?

Now, if you read the EULA for this program, it says "Zortam Mp3 Player is free for personal use,...", and it also says so on the Giveaway edition of the program. However, if you use the version from their website, it'll tell you "Zortam Mp3 Player is not a free software,...", while the installer says the same thing as on the Giveaway installer. So the question is, is it free or not? I think paying for software that says that it's free three out of four times is extremely suspicious. Even though I cannot see anything wrong with the program itself, I recommend giving this company a wide berth.

#41, Rich, it doesn't synchronize the lyrics, it simply scrolls them up and down if you leave it alone. You can pause the lyrics, or change their speed and direction with the mouse.

There's a tiny little Lyrics Plugin for Winamp and WMP (there are others, but this is free). There are a couple of links to lyrics databases on the site, at the bottom. The WMP plugin has some cosmetic configuration, scrolls manually, and excludes visualization while running.

RE: Today's giveaway...here's my honest review... by MP3 player standards...it sucks. That's not a comment on the price - hey if they can get $10 or $10,000 for it - God bless 'em. But if you are a collector of .MP3 players and just have to have every one ever coded, including primative buggy ones... then by all means download this one for your .MP3 museum. Some day maybe it'll be worth something and you'll still have the original with all the packaging... no, wait... there is no packaging... maybe in "Second Life" this will be worth something some day.

WhiteRabbit
Dude... this is a free country (or at least a free Internet..) and if the majority of people (or even a large minority) frequenting this site want your game reviews or whatever here -then by all means keep posting them. You asked why all the negatives, and I simply tried to be straight with you ... it's off-topic, so when you do it, you do it at your own risk, and you're gonna get nailed.

THAT SAID - The other day someone suggested that you get a 'standing' post or something here for the game news. I think that's a great idea. It would keep the download board on-topic, give you your own 'spot' - and satisfy the game morons who are too lazy to click over to another forum. Hey GOTD people- we don't want any broken hearts here, especially over something as important as computer games, so why not give Stephen his own area?

I will pass on this software as many have noted.... why pay for an mp3 player when there are so many free alternitives? See Winamp, Media Monkey, Musicmatch, I Tunes, etc, etc. Enough said on that subject. My question is about the games. I know this is not the forum to discuss games but there seems to be no choice as the game side is not open. It used to be there was gamegiveawayoftheday and a giveawayoftheday. Than it changed to games only on the weekends. I didn't like it but I accepted it. But now no games at all? Why is there not a game at least given on the weekend? I haven't read any comments that would make the answer clear. Is this site going to offer games or not? I would assume the site managers know the answer. It would be nice if they would let us visitors know. The last portion of my post is about White Rabbit and his posts here. I don't see any harm in reading his posts. He posts one comment about an offering and I don't feel that is too much. I would rather read his post than some bone head that complains about receiving a trial version of a game/program because they didn't read the readme file and run activate.exe first. I come on here every day to check out the program but I don't know how to use the forums. I appreciate White Rabbit's link to the forum page so I can see what is being offerered. At least that way I can see what is on the forums. Keep up your outstanding work White Rabbit. There are a lot of people that love your work. There are some that don't.... but I would think they fall into the minority. That is just my opinion. Your milage may vary

To EVERYONE that actually had the nuts to say anything remotely negative to/about Stephen a.k.a. WhiteRabbit .. GROW UP!!

Stephen I appreciate everything that you have done and every review that you have given. I always scroll down straight to your post because I know that you will be honest and not feed a bunch of BS to us. I appreciate your posts here about the games you have found and have made sure to check them all out (and have downloaded most of them). I have no idea what is going on with GGOTD but it is nice to have someone that cares enough to offer us something while we wait and wonder where they are *HINT HINT*

AGAIN, THANK YOU WHITERABBIT AND THE GODDESS BLESS YOU!!

I was looking to get a no frills easy mp3 player. I used to use winamp back in the day and much prefer the older versions before they added video support. Regarding this one: to the developers, selecting 'enqueue in Zortam Mp3 Player' does not enqueue at all, it functions the same as 'Play in Zortam Mp3 Player' so there is no way to build a play list. Why have this option at all if it does not function properly? Aside from that, I found no major problems with it once I figured out where to set the player options.

to #47 Mia ...So to them I say, so sorry but the needs of the few do not outweigh the needs of the many...

Unfortunately, while in theory this ought to be true, it sadly is not. I live in the USA and it's the 'few' who have this country in the mess it is in starting with taking GOD out of things. The majority doesn't always rule. Funny thing though, they don't have a problem receiving or spending money that has 'In God We Trust' on it.
I for one am not bothered at all by Stephen's contribution here, he is voluntarily filling a need for many of the regulars who enjoy the game offerings he has. I've learned to just ignore all the naysayers.

Seems to me if this is the only player around that scrolls lyrics then it has a lot of value to people who like to do karyoke-type activities. It seems to me it would be worth the price just for that feature.

I appreciate White Rabbit's efforts very much. I've also enjoyed many of the games he has found for us. Don't let a few disgruntled folks upset you. You could sit on a rock in the middle of the desert 50 miles from nowhere and someone would find some fault with you. Keep up the good work!

A lot of people have commented on why we don't need another MP3 player, or why visualizations are not important, However, I would pay for an MP3 player that could display the album, artist, and song title full screen so I could read it from across the room, AND accept commands from a remote control. I like playing music on the computer while I'm working out on the treadmill and would like to be able to see what is playing. I use WinAmp because I was able to get it to work with the remote control that came with my Creative sound card. If only I could find a plugin that displayed the song info full screen! If Zortam, or anyone else, wants to get money for an MP3 player than they need to make it so something unique that none of the current crop of players is able to manage.

Thanks, GOTD, but I uninstalled already. Real Player works just fine for my needs. I play music while I am doing other stuff on the computer, so I don't need the light show or scrolling lyrics. Real Player plays all of my music files regardless if they are .wav, mp3, whatever. So thanks, but no thanks.

Sorry, GAOTD, I will pass today and a big thumbs down. Winamp and VLC and maybe foobar 2k is all I need to play, rip and convert MP3 and more than MP3. For example, Winamp can support any music file type if there's a plugin available for playing it (even some rare exotic audio filetypes, like those used in older games). Not to mention that Winamp, Foobar 2k and VLC and most plugins for them are freeware (except for Winamp Pro which enables audio ripping and burning, but there are free programs available for doing this).
If you don't like them, there are TONS of other freeware players on the internet. And only if you can't find any free player which is suitable for you, you can get this shareware one here today.

Did anyone actually buy this at $19? For $19 one could buy a generic portable MP3 player that can store 1 GB of tunes. Winamp is a much better deal. It is free and has numerous plug ins available.

When I check out the give away of the day one of the first things I look for is Stephens critique. It is sad that some folks are so busy thinking of themselves and what they want and need. So to them I say, so sorry but the needs of the few do not outweigh the needs of the many. I would like to see you continue to post what you do Stephen, it helps many people. For those who already know it all well, they can skip what you post. For me, I read it and appreciate it. Thanks again.

Was one of these Tray Commander? I installed that GAOTD program on several computers, but they are ALL showing a warning upon startup, that there are only so many days left.

Does anyone know if this program synchronizes the lyrics to the song (like a Karaoke player?) If not, do you know of any programs that do this? Thanks.
