It prevented me from installing another GAOTD four days after I installed this -- I could not turn it off with Task Master, so regretfully had to UNinstall it! There should be a way to tell it not to prevent things we believe are okay.

In this case, I wanted the Audio Mixer programme MORE than I wanted this -- so I just had to uninstall it.

Read my comment above. You'll need to uninstall all reference to Zemana, ZAM from your registry

I had the same problem installing Zemana. Everytime I tried got the message that I needed to uninstall an older version. After using Windows own uninstaller, would still not uninstall. The solution is to go into your registry (type Regedit in the search field then from the edit menu select find, then type Zemana in the search field) and delete all reference to ZAM and Zemana. It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to uninstall all registry entries. There were a some hives that said windows resizer that appeared while searching (use F3 to go to the next entry), don't delete those.

If you aren't sure about anything particular entry don't delete them. If it has antilogger, ZAM or Zemana in the right hand panel, then it's almost certainly safe to delete.

I suggest you make a backup of your registry if you're not familiar with editing your registry. I've been doing it for years, so no longer bother as I've never made a mistake so far. (fingers crossed, lol)

whiterabbit-uk,
Yours is a very good piece of advice.
I used Revo uninstaller, praised by some, yet it still missed quite a number of Zemana entries. So I went into registry and found quite a number of entries which I needed to remove.

As a result my old machine runs now much faster.

Thanks for the excellent tip.

whiterabbit-uk, Thanks for the excellent suggestion and I will gladly use it to rid my registry of Zemana references. But the way I look at it, if a company can't do something as simple as remove the stuff it added to my PC when I uninstall it, then I have zero trust they can write software that will keep me safe, a MUCH bigger challenge. Zemana has lost their permission to enter my PC. Just my opinion.

WAYNE LEE,

You'll need to uninstall all reference to Zemana, ZAM from your registry to be able to install the new version. With respect to the required privilege. i had the same problem a few months ago, found I'd installed and totally forgotten a security software, (can;t remember it';s name, but it appears in the right click menu when clicking on executable programs). I had to disable that particular program then the problem was solved

Tried to install but got the message that a previous version is installed and must be deleted first. HOW? It doesn't show up in Revo or add-remove programs. Searching with Everything for antilog and zem did not find anything but a link to an uninstaller that windows can't find. Yes, I had an older version installed and got rid of it when license expired. I would have the same issue if I bought this program, so it looks like no more Zemana products can go on this PC. Too bad, I liked having the Antilogger program!

I've used the pirate version for years and this new one has made many changes from the old one -- remember, the rat is always the one (me) who knows when the ship is sinking and the first one who flows to safety -- with that being SAID, this program is a must have when dealing with the internet/hackers on a daily basis.

Sandra,

You'll need to uninstall all reference to Zemana Antilogger, but you'll need to be careful not to delete the premium version. To be honest, if you have the premium version you shouldn't need to install this, unless your premium version license is almost ended.

Reply   |   Comment by Mbi Ent  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+10)

Mbi Ent,
You should contact the Anti Malware people and explain to them what happened, they may have the perfect solution.

If that doesn't work, you might try a file recovery tool, several available for download at "techsupportalert.com", search for the term "file recovery." You'll want to download and install whatever you chose on a different drive from where your Anti Malware was/is installed, perhaps a thumb drive. Make sure your chosen program is compatible with that kind of install. Most of them should be.

Good Luck.

consuella, Yes, I created a restore point and restored the computer. The death struggle between Zemena's products stopped, all is running smooth. Wonder why they don't play well together. What I had ended up with was portions of each app trying to run, the logo was antilogger but the functionality was antimalware. Would like to have some of the functionality of antilogger, but do not want to give up antimalware. This is an XP machine, antimalware is light-footed. How to get both installed and not fighting?

Zemana-antilogger is a good software, however it fails to detect previously infected files.
I have a doc file infected with a known virus on a USB drive. When I copied the infected file from the USB to document folder as an experiment, zemana did not detected it and did not warned me, however, windows defender did and removed the file at once. I think zemana sends the suspicious files to home base first before it removes them, that may be a vulnerability in this antilogger software. If there is no d-base of known malware and viruses in our computer, it may be to late to stop an aggressive virus and zemana acts after the fact with comparison of the d-base on their servers.
If you are not connected with internet 24/7 this antilogger is useless.
Example, I download my e-mail attachments first and then open them later in my free time and if my internet is down at that time, I have no protection at all.

gorry, it's not a antivirus app It's a antikeylogger app, they are different

Reply   |   Comment by Buckoooo  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+14)

gorry: Zemana's AntiLogger is not an antivirus. It doesn't use signatures, nor rely on a continuously modified database to function. It is designed to work with defensive software already installed on a user's computer, not as a substitute for that software. The scenario to which you refer -- where you knowingly infected your own machine with a virus -- is a test of AV and anti-malware software detection capabilities. Not an anti keylogger's.

Zemana's Antilogger has divided opinions, depending on what protective measures you already have in place on your computer (and, to lesser extent, what your OS happens to be.)

In its original guise, the software did what it said would do on the tin. It ran just two protection modules, 'Keystroke Encryption', and 'SSL Intrusion Prevention', via which latter it protected against SSL (https) data pre-encryption as well as so-called 'Man-in the-Browser' (MitB) and HTML injection attacks. It also consistently monitored the computer for fake root certificate installations.

Later versions, like today's, have built on that, such as to provide additional security in the form of Pandora cloud protection, ransomware shielding and even browser toolbar monitoring and clean-up. As a package, it's quite formidable, and goes some way to addressing many a fundamental need for safe computing in today's worrisome age. However . . .

If various reports from various authors are to be believed, installation of the the latest version may affect your computer's performance. In my experience, it did just that. Whereas my Malwarebytes Pro and Avira AV played nicely with the basic version of the antilogger product, no such luck attended when the advanced version was installed. The slow-down was noticeable, though was easily cured by dint of simple cause-and-effect diagnosis, viz: the uninstallation of that advanced version.

In saying that, I can't stress enough the way that different computers running different OS's, each with different, individualized configurations, perform in different ways. The fact that I encountered a slow down on my machine (Windows 7 OS) does not axiomatically mean that every computer user will encounter the same performance hit.

All I can speak to is my own experience, which suggested that the protections already in place and running on my computer did not need -- indeed, did not play nicely with -- the additional protections of Zemana's advanced version.

Where today's GOTD is concerned then, it's definitely worth DLing and trying out, and especially by those who have passive, rather than active, defenses in operation on their computer. If it works without a performance hit regardless of existing defenses, then fine. If not, then nothing's lost: an uninstall should be easy -- should be, because though Windows 7 users have not, to my knowledge, reported difficulties with such uninstallation, Windows 10 users certainly seem to have done.

(But then, Windows 10 users report so many difficulties with their OS that I'm not surprised: it is, after all, the longest lasting unresolved beta-stage OS Microsoft has ever released. And it still hasn't got it right: I've just spent the morning, fixing a friend's Internet connectivity after the latest Win 10 update comprehensively borked it. Grrrrr . . .)

In conclusion then: Zemana's AntiLogger is a good product. Today's offer is well worthy of investigation -- though if you already have active defenses in place, then this advanced version may, possibly, prove troublesome, as it did in my case. If so, then Zemana's original freeware Antilogger, the one without today's bells-and-whistles, is still available from the tech site Bleeping Computer:

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/zemana-antilogger-free/

I would, however, urge anyone who opts for that version to open the Settings tab on the opening splash screen and, from the list of options that appears there, go to the fourth one marked 'Never check for updates (not recommended)' and click that button, otherwise that free version may be replaced because of the software's default 'Allow AntiLogger Free to install updates'.

Thanks, then, to GOTD, and to Zemana.

why the scanning columns are not labeled?
there is column with file name then another either show the potential detection or failed. what failed means ? That cannot open file, that cannot identify file? that cannot fix it, that cannot read it???????
why some files just disappear from computer after announcing detection and did not show in any log?
it detects MySQL as a threat .
whats going on, how can i get my file back,
why by default it selects to send files to zemana, instead it should ask during installation if that is ok.

I recommend both Zemana AntiLogger and Zemana AntiMalware:-

1.) For me both products play nicely with my other Secutrity products so I have experienced no conflicts.

2.) I find the response time to support enquiries is excellent.

3.) Personally I find a 1 year license for any security product is more then enough time to evaluate it properly. I always pass on 6 month "giveaways". I see them as no better then extended, trials that many companies offer on their own websites anyway!

Thing is that I can't locate the software....I know it is there because when I reboot the PC it comes up asking if I want to renew the licence (previous GOTD)

Have searched using Revo Uninstall and normal Program and Features as well as searching using the start button.....can't find the software.

It appears on other sites that it is difficult to remove because Zemana hides the uninstall?

The activation code is in the Read Me file after you extract the program to a folder. On the programs I-face, second option on the top right, click on the key icon. The program then asks you for the reg. #. I simply cut and paste it into the programs registration feature and clicked REGISTER, and it's now activated for a year. Windows 7 Home Pro 64 bit. I had a one year licence for this from a previous giveaway and when that expired I reverted to the free version. Now if you check the Zemana site it says that the free version is discontinued although if you Google for it you will still find plenty of links to download the free version.(MajorGeeks for example still has "Zemana AntiLogger 2.70.204.118 / 1.8.2.320 Free" on their site} It will be interesting to find out that,if you download the free version and file away the .exe for future use, whether it will still install in one years time.

bettersafethansorry, I got the free version from MajorGeeks per your instructions, and compared it with today's giveaway. The version being given out today does a whole lot more than the free version. It also protects against ID theft, zero-day malware, and ransomware.

CJ Cotter, I am fully aware of the differences between the paid for and free versions and have in fact already reverted to the free version. Why? ...because I originally downloaded this program as an Anti-Logger and nothing else and I do not need the extra bells and whistles provided. This extra protection is adequately catered for by my full version of MBAM and two programs doing the same thing is neither good nor necessary.

Tony, security software are justified to have 1 year licence, it is standard, the good thing is that its not 6 months.
For other type of software, I agree with you.

Tony,
haven't you realised yet that these software companies offer another more modern version before the 1 year license expires. So download it if you need it.

Nektarios Prekas, i'd rather think that other type of software is "allowed" to offer a limited time license, cause it in essence, a longer trial than they usually offer.
