I still had trouble as in the past creating a bootable media on a CD. Reaching 99% then stalling, like forever. Finally by re-formatting a rewritable CD first I had success. Needs looking into AOMEI.
    thanks. Please.

    Raybay,

If you are still interested in this, you have 29 hours left, from the time I am posting this, to install and activate this. While the giveaway on here was only for a day, AOMEI is actually giving away the software until the end of the month. Use this link: https://www.aomeitech.com/partners/world-backup-day/giveaway-1004.html

I don't think we are ALL crazy --- I just looked at my INBOX -- ALL of your recent emails HAVE BEEN THAT DAY... Until today that is: --- My email when I opened it, said, "1:36 AM (8 hours ago)". since i wasn't awake and now it is 10 AM in the US, no way could I have received this email on the 19th. But, ALL the other emails DID COME on the day you said.

--- I am ALSO the email admin for CDPi.com, and I just looked at the RAW headers:
    Message ID <00000000000090513805da9fc4a9@google.com>
Created at: Sun, Mar 20, 2022 at 1:36 AM (Delivered after 0 seconds)

In this case, I think you should fix this, at least for those that have spent the time to report it, and then tried unsuccessfully to correct it.

In addition to comments #27 and #29, it does seems something is messed up with the Give Away of the Day notifications. In the past, the daily notifications came early in the day, now they seem to come at random times, sometimes late in the day, even at the close of the day, or after the offer has expired. It would appear to be an issue within this website (GAOTD), and/or its management/administration.

To all those crying about not getting a notification, or that it arrives "too late":

Do you seriously need a notification? Are your lives THAT convoluted that you can't just browse to the website each day and take a look for yourself? You seriously need notifications to remember how to live your lives? Do you get notifications ever day to remember to eat, or use the bathroom!?

It really isn't that hard and complicated is it??? All I can say is WOW to those complaining about this! There is a new giveaway EVERY DAY, stop being lazy and just come to the website on your own and see what is being given away. People are unbelievable!

I got a BSoD(=INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE) when AOMEI attempted to uninstall a previous version and install the new one. They said it was a known issue and are still working on a fix. They have been very cooperative and Backupper is an excellent program, so I mean this as no knock against them, just be sure to take a backup!

Not installing. I have Windows 10 x64. The zip file unzips to show folder AOMEIBackupperSetup. That folder contains a second folder, also AOMEIBackupperSetup, which contains the setup file. When I click on AOMEIBackupperSetup.exe to install, my system asks permission to install, then nothing happens.

I don't see the version number that's offered today. As someone else stated, we were offered 6.6.1 a few months ago. The website is offering 6.9.1 as the latest version (see the changelog). I assume that version is part of today's GOTD.

I can say from experience that Aomei saved my data and my sanity once before when I was dealing with imminent failure. And while, like many, I don't care for a 1-year license for most things, I think this is a generous offer. I also think it may be worth $40 to purchase a license after a year of data protection for some people -- maybe not for others.

One problem I've seen with Aomei is the poor handling of a lack of space for my backups. I don't like the idea of deleting a full backup before starting a new backup, and Aomei seemed to choke at handling this space issue for me. I could never get the settings tweaked perfectly to avoid this issue. They offer another utility for space management -- I can't recall what it was called and was frustrated enough to use another software altogether at the time. But because I know and trust this company well enough, I will grab this offer today and switch my backup routine back to this software.

Another issue with the 6.6.1 version we got from GOTD is a weird mouse jumping issue. When on the main screen, clicking any icon makes the mouse wildly jump to different parts of the screen, and even outside of the Aomei window. It's a frustrating nuisance that never happened with the free version.

Positive note, I learned a lot from the documentation on the website and was nicely prepared for an impending crash. I was able to get my new machine set up and running in a couple of hours. This is coming from a non-professional and one who is only mildly tech savvy.

"One problem I've seen with Aomei is the poor handling of a lack of space for my backups. "

FWIW, there are basically 2 alternatives -- store your data in the cloud, resetting or reinstalling Windows if/when necessary, or use external storage. Hard disks connected via USB are the cheapest, but also less reliable than something like a much more expensive NAS. So it makes sense to have more than one. In that case deleting a backup to make room for a new one has less risk.

    ilyana,

I'm currently running the 6.6.1 version from the last giveaway, and I can say that I've never experienced the mouse jumping issue you are describing. It has worked flawlessly for me.

On a side note, have you (or anybody else) installed this giveaway and can confirm what version it is?

I have quite a lot of backup software. But i use only Image for DOS from Terabyte. Payed version. I also used Raxco Instant Recovery, its a excellent idea but a virus or a malware can ruin ur entire snapshot. So now i am using robust solution like RollbackRx Pro.
Nothing is bullet proof in my opinion, even Rollback, windows failing to properly register free space will fail Rollback as well. No matter if that snapshot is 3-4 years old.
However u can only make a layered solution for such catastrophic events.
This software is just one year doesn't fulfill my need.
As i have known from experience, always backup ur data first, cause if u loose it; it takes double the time finding it in the net again.
And that hollow feeling when u loose ur data...ohhhh
Then a backup image of an active partition. When disaster strikes it doesn't proclaim and happen, it can happen at the moment when ur least prepared.

What is good software to do multiboot and imaging?
For a long time I have used XOSL on a Win98 Fat32 partition with Ghost to backup and restore images of WinXP.
Now this system is a bit long-in-the-tooth and is a bit hit-or-miss with a given PC, so I am wondering what would be a reliable method to use with more modern OS's like Win7 and Win10?
Would this AOMEI Backupper Pro be a good option? Mike?

The Claw, I have used Paragon’s software in its subsequent versions for years. The software used to be regularly offered on GAOTD and it is how I got it for the first time, but now the software seems to be no longer offered here. Their sofware have served me well to restore systems since Win XP until my present Win 10, regardless of the type of the disc including the latest SSD one. I had to restore damaged systems due to disc/application errors on many occasions and the Paragon software has never failed so to do. Needless to say, I am writing this reply solely in order to extend the assessment perspective of other users, rather than to promote Paragon in which I have no interest, relations, whatsoever.

"Would this AOMEI Backupper Pro be a good option?"

Ghost worked by copying the raw data from the entire disk or one or more partitions to an archive -- several apps do that today, with the advantage that by using Windows VSS they can backup / copy files that are actively being used by Windows while it's running. Most can also reduce the storage space needed to store backups by only copying data that's changed since the last backup, though that means you have to save all the backups that the latest one depends on. IMHO Macrium Reflect, AOMEI, & EaseUS are among the best, most popular brands, & all 3 offer free & paid versions. When choosing image backup software, your 1st step should be to test the bootable USB stick created using that software to make sure it works on every device you plan to use it on. If that bootable USB stick doesn't work, and mileage may vary depending on hardware & backup software brands, your backups are useless if Windows won't run. You should store backups somewhere else besides the drive(s) in your PC/laptop in case the hard disk fails, and because ransomware can target any backups it can find.
