I have CS3 with Flash Video Converter, why would I need anything else? I also use FCP Suite 2, Vegas, Premiere, and AVS Video Converter (Great Product, Thanks!!!!GOATD) Why would I need anything else? Can anyone answer that? Is there something I don't know about?

No. It isn't the "third day" this software has been offered.

It was available on June 6th. But not June 7th. And not today either, June 8th.

Then again, nothing was available on June 7th or June 8th, either.

Perhaps Slava and GOTD have finally decided there's no bloody point in spending a fortune on bandwidth etc for people who clearly think the best thing that can happen is for GOTD to shut down and stop annoying them with free software.

Traditionally it used to be people congregating together under the collective call: "Let us pray".

Here, it's become a tradition for some people to form their own congregation under the collective call:

"Let us pay."

Go on then. Because it may be that now you can.

Uhm... Did it enter your minds that, after 26 years of PCs and writing software for it, there is little left to write new software for?

Let's have a look at what people are doing with their PCs: Gaming; browsing the Internet; writing and receiving email; perhaps a bit of wordprocessing; image and video processing. Computers have become more powerful, but so did operating systems. Yet, I'd rather have a good, external, program to do the tasks the operation system only performs in basic.

Have a look at other freeware sites, and you will see new versions of older software (mostly because of demands by newer operating systems - think of Vista -), something some here would call "reruns". Really new software - the non pre-existing type of - will be hard to find, if not non-existent at all.

Those who condemn this "lack of creativity" I challenge to come up with something truly new, something that can be written into a useful and usable program... and who knows, one day we may have it offered here on GAOTD; until then appreciate what you get, download it if you think you can use it, and don't if you can't.

What I like are the comments that point out shortcomings of, or downright bugs in, the software offered here, and even more those comments that offer freeware alternatives to the software offered here. The programmers/developers can benefit from these to make their programs better, a kind of interaction with the end-users Microsoft (to mention just one) should have thought of, resulting in usable software instead of bloated ones.

I feel that the GAOTD-team is trying very hard to present something useful, and I want to thank them for their effort, imagining only faintly how difficult this actually may be. Those who are "negative-by-nature" about their effort I'd say: "If you can do better, then by all means do so, if not... shut up!!!"

This is a good piece of software for the library but this is the third day it's been on GOTD. Hardly surprising given all the little babies crying because they are not being given the toy they want. A few would be worth laughing at but having so many under eights making pointless comments overwhelms the genuine comments about this software. It also seems to have broken the spirit of those valued people at GOTD. My hope is that the absence of anything new for a couple of days will sufficiently discourage the kiddies and allow the grown ups to once again enjoy this excellent site.

Jumping past all the whining and whimpering because of a late e-mail notice... Here's a hint: Visit the site every day if you don't want to be disappointed.

About this program, this is the first video to flash converter offered by GotD which actually converts RealMedia files to FLVs. That alone is worth the price of admission for me. Thanks very much!

Agree with #1 and #3. Even bringing back some of the oldies but goodies would be nice for those of us who lost the one time activation because of a computer crash. HelpSmith Help Maker for one. LOL

I am even more disappointed that the bot cam 10 hours ago and the give away (*whatever it should be) is no longer available? I thought we had at least 12 hours? My notice comes in the middle of the night. Not happy about that. Oh and Yes, please stop with all the video convertaers and give us something useful!

To #83: You are talking like just another spoiled brat. Do you think that software publishers everywhere are rushing to give their work away for free? It amazes me that GAOTD is able to find so many publishers to provide free software for us. Obviously, GAOTD offers what is available when they can get it.

Mommy and daddy may have given you everything for free, but it rarely works out there in the real world.

I agree with number 4, beggers can't be choosers. IT'S FREE! Why are you complaining? You don't have to download everything. There are new people coming to this site everyday, I just discovered it last month.

I had a system crash a while back. Any chance we can get an audio editor or two? I know about Audacity but I really liked one of the ones you had a few months back. It reminded me very much of Cool Edit which, sadly, Adobe bought, killed the 2-track version that was only $50 and jacked the price of the multi-track version up to their usual standards.

Man, Does it really matter how many converters or screen savers or whatever else they set up for us. Just be grateful for what you get and quit crying. Don't you think the people that put these giveaways out get sick of you guys crying all the time? Thanks GOTD for just keeping this site going.

Maybe they thought that calling this app a video to flash encoder most people wouldn't realize its just another converter.
#1 I totally agree with your comment and hope GOTD will provide more variety at their site.

Consider these:
1. Even after their own beta testing, software companies approach GAOTD to feature their product as a GAOTD. It's not the other way around. Now the site administrators have to accommodate each request.
2. The software company saves by themselves not having to go to so many ezine editors, and they instead get honest reviews from actual users FREE.
3. Some of the companies take a cue from the site users' comments and make refinements. After some time they ask the site to feature the product again, but there are size and feature set differences from the previous version, as you may have noticed.
4. The developer gets to know about and test competing products through links provided by site posters, in addition to links found by Web search engines.
5. GAOTD is probably only one or two guys.

#2, is that why all the flash converters here make my flash videos look slightly greenish tint compared to the original? I'm trying to figure that one out

I'm bedridden so I have all kinds of time to explore all the offertings. It would be quite a boring day without GAOTD!! I do hope the whining stops cause if this were my site, I'd probably give up on it. GAOTD, please don't give up on it. If all you have are a majority of converters, then keep offering them until you get others offers from developers. There are so many of us that don't comment but we really love this site and all the work that you do. The negative complaints are the minortiy.

Noticed in the registry that Wondershare sets up both of their programs during install time as "RunAsAdmin" in the compatibility mode list. Shouldn't do that without asking the user!

Probably the game pile has gotten small as well as the daily offerings.

I have lost sever former offers that I would like to see come around again.

My suggestion: GOTD, please pay close attention to the forums where we list good former offerings and some new (reasonable)possibilities. There have been many great programs offered. Overall, I have found the software on this site better than the offerings on the other daily giveaway sites. But! We are wringing out all of the products from several companies and not reaching out to new companies and former big hits.

that's not the purpose of GOTD.

complaining helps COTD (sorry, I had to do it) see its own flaws. we are in a way warning them that they're soon going to lose all their visitors if this goes on.
so those who are saying "shut up cuz you're getting it for free," you have to understand that without us GOTD would be nothing. at all. they're not doing it for charity.

Aplus Video Converter was better, this one only converts to flash... hehe, hopefully you got the other one lucky. otherwise, there's free programs with more features than this one.

I have never posted before and just want to speak my piece. I look forward to opening this site daily. Its just like opening a present. You never know whats inside. I have no problems with any of the free downloads. I am not all that computer savvy, only have problems understanding what some of these programs do. Therefore, I dont download them. But I still look...and appreciate the effort that is made finding these programs for us. I also appreciate the comments. Helps me decide if its something I could figure out and use. Would love a 'understanding it all for seniors' type giveaway, tho some of you would moan about that. All and all: LOVE THIS SITE..and thank you for it!! Stay safe.

I used this software today and converted a 50 meg wmv to a small FLV in just a few minutes.

For the haters and people complaining that it's not software YOU don't want...save your typing and complain to yourself. What GOAD is doing is GREAT. If you don't like the software they are offering that day, then wait until they offer something you do like and download it, review and post back a review of the software.

Nobody wants to see your whining and crying. Go cry on mommy or daddy's shoulder if you are going to get your panties in a wad over something YOU don't like. People like you are the reason that sites like this don't stay around.
