Realize all your demands on Android backup and restore.

Wise Folder Hider Pro can hide files and folders on local partitions or removable devices. The files will be hidden safely due to advanced encryption algorithm. You can set a password for it so that the hidden data can be displayed and unhidden only by entering the valid password. The data is completely invisible to other programs or on other operating system, so it is much more reliable. Compaired to other folder hiders, Wise Folder Hider Pro is more secure and convenient for users to modify protected files. Moreover, the interface of Wise Folder Hider Pro is very intuitive. Even a first timer can get the hang of it in a minute.

NB: The license is provided for 1-year; supports upgrading.

I prefer my non-expiring version which still works perfectly well. I miss the old days when you buy something and then own it, and the really great days when software engineers made a good product and kept their loyal users with updates. That loyalty to a good product ensured always new customers so there was no need to bilk customers or leave them with old versions. This is way too simple a software for anything but a small one time fee. So I stick with version 3.3 I guess. That said it is great for easily hiding and showing folders you want to keep private. Very simple, no complications.

Sorry, but . . .

The same criticism I have of iObit and its "Protected Folder" applies to this offering from Wise, viz: the recurring annual license fee for a product which is not an A/V, does not put the developer to the considerable expense of ceaseless database updating, and does not require the developer to recruit and retain a highly-paid forensic staff to analyze and neutralize zero day threats.

It's just. . . an app. It just. . . does stuff. On which basis: it should just. . . be sold.

But it isn't. It's rented out, 12 months at a time -- though you'd be as hard pressed to discover that on the front page of the developer's website description of this product as you'd be hard-pressed to discover that same salient fact where iObit is concerned, too.

Some developers -- like Malwarebytes, for instance -- incur so high an hourly, daily, weekly overhead on maintenance and research that I've not the slightest objection to financing that seemingly endless work via a recurring license fee. Other developers, however, who having seen what A/V and malware producers are doing, are simply mimicking that business model -- but without cause or justification for so doing.

Thanks then, GOTD, and thanks, Wise, but no thanks: downloading this today for a free year's use doesn't alter the fact that this is rentalware in regard to which consumers need to be protecting their wallets just as much as protecting their files.

MikeR,
I hadn't noticed that this was a one-year license for the simple reason that there is absolutely no excuse for it to be so.
Sadly we are seeing this in companies that once had a decent reputation, but they also are becoming excessively greedy.
I had hoped that we would see really expensive software such as Adobe Photoshop have a short-term rental available for a small amount of money.
Surely this would be a good business model, casual users pay a small price for say a daily rental.

Was such a pleasure to see a superb video editor being offered for less than $20, namely VSDC.
As a developer I have an idea of what it cost to develop many of the programs offered here and more often than not am utterly disgusted by the prices they want to charge for programs that have almost no development costs.

Thanks for an excellent comment.

MikeR, Use the freeware version, does almost everything anyways.

rodken,

The Pro version of Wise Folder Hider takes advanced encryption algorithm to protect your hidden file. What's more, you can get back the login password automatically if forgot.

i Installed and it brings up a box to input email, user name and registration # to activate. That is the problem. You have to send the form to get the License #. but you cant get the licence # because you cant send the form because you don't have the license #. Hell of a circle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your previous version Pro V3.30 (also here in GAOTD) has no expiration and I'm still using it. So no thanks for this version.

Safehouse Explorer free works well for me. What advantage does this paid program offer.

I have wise folder hider on my old VISTA machine. I can't open that program anymore because I've forgotten the password, nor do I use that laptop anymore.

Problem is that on my newer 8.1 laptop I downloaded today's program and it will not behave as a new program to this machine. Probably, because I used my email address to install on both machines. That essentially renders today's download useless. Unless there is a workaround that will not cost a fee, I will be uninstalling.

ydsalr, I would imagine that if you wont pay a cost or fee, then you will not be a priority for the developer/company. If you pay something for the software and support, you would find it much easier to have the company help you migrate your data.

ydsalr, you can ask for a password by mail.

Compare Wise Folder Hider PRO with the folder and USB protection programs offered by this company:

http://www.kakasoft.com/

---Doesn't expire after one year.
---The encrypter EXE is portable.
---If the encrypter EXE is damaged by a virus, no problem. Just delete it and drop in a new copy.

CJ Cotter, Yours is no better program, VERY expensive.

What is your interest in Kaka (aptly named I fear)..

Kaila, you must be looking at the $99 program, their only high-priced version. I'm using "Folder Protector(Lockdir)", only $23. As someone who has lost a lot of files due to ransomware, that's a small price to pay for protection.

Installed in WinXP-virtual.
I made 2 folders on a stick and hide one:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/WiseFolderHiderPRO341_20161109/Werking.png
In WinXP there were 3 dots:

And the USB in Win8.1, no dots:

I started a recovery program:

What happens to the encrypted data after the year trial expires?

Reply   |   Comment by mikimoto  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+14)

mikimoto, Your Teacher, After one year, when the license key has expired, you can also view the hidden content. And your former hidden files will be kept hidden. But it won't allow you to hide other files after one year.

Thanks for your help in advance.

What happens after the 1 year, when the license has expired? Can I still view hidden content?

TK,

After one year, the hidden files can be un-hidden but it can't be written or hidden again.
