Yikes. This could be made in Microsoft Access 97, and probably was.

carl4267, it was and it runs under Msaccess.exe from the access97 rutime.

The Price alone is enough to turn me away. But I decided to try it , as I am the I.T Director for a small non-profit. The interface reminds me strongly of Windows XP almost . The program itself is not user friendly it requires a lot of leg work. Work better spent in Google Docs or Office 365 both offer the same if not greater capabilities without a nose bleed of a price.

Then there is the price, $ 689.90! What do you want? It is an antique program!

What is this ? The interface is hopelessly outdated. There is almost nothing on the website, which itself is incredibly ugly / unusual / unpleasant to use.

How many licenses have been sold at the sky-high, nominal price ?

Msaccess.exe uses 100% 1cpu for the duration of the program!

@Orbisoft Corporation

What do you think you are doing? you have a form on an unencrypted page that includes sensitive financial and personal data...

http://www.orbisoft.com/products/taskmanager/20-20/purchase/select-version-cc.aspx

The entire order process for a supposed order of greater than $1000 dollars with completely invalid data has been accepted the entire procedure was completed using unencrypted http:// connections and it the form feild validation did not even check for valid card type and allowed letters to be entered into credit card field and expiry date! @ other readers DO NOT EVER SUBMIT PERSONAL AND FINANCIAL DATA INTO A WEBSITE FORM THAT IS NOT ENCRYPTED STRONGLY. e.g. do not enter such private and sensive data into old style web browseers that do not support the current TLS 1.2 connection encryption protocols e.g DO NOT do business with any ecommerce site that allows Internet Explorer 9 or lower to connect and proceed as Microsoft never updated those to support current gold standard of https connection security and their older browsers are using the old TLS 1.0 protocol that has known cryptographic weaknesses.

Installed okay but doesn't seem to support modern Windows operating systems. You get a bunch of Access Database errors on first run unless you right click it and run as admin, after that the program opens as Administrator but has a ton of Access Query errors then eventually logs in okay. I wouldn't rely on it for tracking any big, all data is stored in an access database in the program folder and offers no cloud sync or even a File - Backup/Export database function.

Got to extract of file and to setup.exe - shows GOTD to install - then nothing??

JL Vannice,

Usually means you haven't disabled your virus protection software BEFORE you execute setup.exe.

Installed fine - have to follow instructions or you'll not get it installed and working. FYI, instructions are there for a reason. Just sayin'.

Gary, Program Version: 5.01 (from readme.txt file inside app folder)

Gary, have a look at all the comments on the previous giveaways of this program... https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/category/publisher/orbisoft-corporation/

the installer is STILL a 16 bit program with none of the current technologies in use. No digital signature, no embeded XML manifest. Their ordering pages are ALL unencrypted STILL.
And because of the age of the program... If you execute the program and then look in Windows Task Manager to see what process is running this you will find a very old MSAccess.exe
Last modified 9th December 2002 still Windows 98 compatible program! This program is long depretiated and completely unsuitable for use in modern versions of windows. There is no changelog for the program since the Program itself has never changed... all they've ever done is edit the database it is built around I see no reason to believe they have done anything to improve access database security over Access 97 encryption or password protection....

From the HLP file which Microsft has formally depretiated due to it being impossible to keep it secure and functional at the same time:

"System Requirements

Minimum system requirements

· Personal computer, Pentium 133 MHz CPU or higher
· Microsoft Windows XP/2000/NT4.00/Me/98/95 or above operating system
· Mouse or other pointing device

Recommended minimum system requirements

· Pentium III or higher
· 64 MB RAM or above
· 800x600 or above screen resolution"

There has been NO program development since before WIndows 10 was first released.

Other developers have problems using such an ancient and unsupported Microsoft runtime with modern builds of windows it was never designed to work with. e.g:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/access-97-runtime-on-version-1709-stops-working/a8b36cc3-d90d-463d-affa-c3d17ab8df8a?tab=AllReplies#tabs

Would this be any use to a home user for planning home owner related tasks, and maybe extending to renovation projects?

Reply   |   Comment by ray hines  –  Last month  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Ray Hines, As a freelance writer, I too am wondering such a question -- indeed if "programming" the app wouldn't be more trouble than it is worth -- for the home user....

I might give it a try, on the basis that it is only here today, but I really doubt it would come in useful when the only person you control is yourself... I would think that a simple job list to remind you of what you need to do, would be sufficient -- for yourself.

Otherwise you might spend so much time writing down all the things you wish to do (or need to do), you are taking valuable time away from things you HAVE to do.

Much like this....

Tranmontane,

"Otherwise you might spend so much time writing down all the things you wish to do (or need to do), you are taking valuable time away from things you HAVE to do. "

So it does have a use for individuals. "Honey I wll get to that as soon as I have time to enter it into the task manager".

rww, LOL as if we have to invent excuses to put off jobs around the home... we have a lifetime of practice of skiving if we need to!

ray hines, simple answer... very unlikely and especially not at their advertised price... It apears to be just a custom old fashioned database interface. I would use something like AllMynotes to document and plan and track progress on a home building/renovation product using the "Tasks" tag on Notes within the folders.
