I have tested the app to work in Windows 7 and Windows 10 (64bit). If you have trouble running it please email me through SWF.max site contact form.

Maxim, OK so what's the email? I also tried to make it work on 32bit w7 and 64bit W10 it never gets done with creating the thumbnails, and ends up not responding if I click on it.

Avira is blocking it.
Setup.exe is detected as HEUR/APC (Cloud).
Is it safe to install?

Thanks but already have the Adobe Flash Player PPAPI for Opera plugin .
It is FREE.
Presumably I do not need this giveaway.
So far no problems playing flash videos.
Everything works.

This tool keeps crashing. It won't run. I tried opening MSIE, which I don't normally use, and it just made it crash with more of a message from Windows, but didn't make it more usable. I installed the ActiveX for MSIE as advised. My default browser is Firefox and I am running Windows Vista home edition.

It has changed the value from msscript.ocx to msscript.dll in all incedents. What about the program that used msscript.ocx? Is that program going to work correctly? I keep detailed records so I'll see what program started using msscript.ocx to see if it's broken and get back to you all later.

Jim,

It was the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x64 9.0.30729.6161 installed with Franzis Photo BUZZER. I just tried to open Franzis Photo BUZZER and gotan error message stating "The application was unable to start correctly(0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. Now I have 2 application that fail. Just great, now I have to use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall both programs.

I install (or not) programs given out here primarily based on feedback from others, so if 80 or 90 percent of feedback is negative, I just 'pass'

I have everything installed on my computer that is needed since I produce animations. Your program keeps on crashing saying "swf.max has stopped working The program does not react, open or even indicate it is there, even though the five files and two directories are in the program's folder. Useless. Uninstalled.

strange program, installed this on 3 machines 2 W10 and one W7

After install, it opens to configure the swf files it finds, problem starts here, all it does is sit there. Than says "not responding" and that's as far as I get.

End up closing the thing. This is the same thing on all 3 machines.

So looks like there is a major bug in this thing.

PS, the the "thumbnail creation" needs to be removed from the startup, it should be after the program starts and done by the user.

When this process hangs it ends up closing the whole program.

Every month Adobe flash player updates my computers with messages: "Security hole patch in progress" and then it updates every month after a month. If security hole was patched the previous month, what is the reason for updates month after month for years and years.
My take is, no security holes were ever patched, I think the Adobe harvests the logs and pages visited and what was accessed there.
When a company becomes monopoly, it should be abandoned.

Reply   |   Comment by matt  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

matt,
I guess you don't understand how viruses work. Just because they patch a security hole, doesn't mean the bad guys won't find another security breach to exploit. Look at WIndows, or any other software program. It's a constant battle to stay ahead of these creeps.
I think you are just extremely paranoid to the point of hysteria.

Reply   |   Comment by bill  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+16)

bill, Although I agree with the reason why Adobe keeps patching that does not mean that someone that doesn't understand how these things works and asks why this monthly patches are there is paranoid or hysteric. One will find logic for itself in certain behaviour and with the datamining many companies do this is a logical conclussion to arrive to when dealing with software. Please tr explaininng these things next time without belittling the asker

Reply   |   Comment by Mavadelo  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

matt,

1st, as Bill said.

If it helps at all, the last fix came about because Google security researchers found a [allegedly Russian] group running an active, targeted campaign, using both Flash & Windows zero day exploits. Adobe fixed theirs with an emergency update --- a fix for the [already mitigated] Windows vulnerability is coming Tuesday. A zero day exploit is a vulnerability that the company making the software has no knowledge of.

As far as Flash goes, after several attempts to kill it off, the end is in sight -- browser makers have stated Flash support will definitely end.

matt,
When many of these programs were written originally it was before these idiot malevolent hackers were even dreamed of and so the code was vulnerable.
Large programs have a huge number of lines of code, for instance WordPerfect, 17,000,000+ lines.
Lots of chances of vulnerabilities and hackers keep finding new ones, hence Adobe and similar have to patch when new ones are found.
So no, the companies aren't spying on you!

Reply   |   Comment by McGregor  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

I kinda agree with bill,
For instance if you've ever used the file manager downloader 'jdownloader', they have updates every day.

Reply   |   Comment by P. R.  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Mavadelo,
I think the point is that matt and others who spout silly conclusions without knowledge just make for false rumors that get blown out of any semblance of reality. Rather than give "my take" with a paranoid conclusion, he should either refrain from such nonsense or ask why the patching is so often if he doesn't understand.
As I'm sure you know, there are an over abundance of trolls who like to just trash everything for fun. This takes a way from those who are genuinely trying to help the rest of us with thoughtful and unbiased reviews which help us all to make informed decisions on products and services we are interested in.
If he doesn't want to be belittled, then ask why rather than stating nonsense as if it is fact. Then I would be more than happy to help him.

McGregor, If the number of programming lines exceeds the ability of the programming team to manage its intricacies, then the solution is to write smaller programs and not market shlock

Installed on Windows 10 Home. Not ready for prime time! After installation I clicked the shortcut and a window opened with a preference for language and storage directory. After I closed that window the program was dead. Clicking the shortcut or even the executable in the program group does nothing. The program does not react, open or even indicate it is there, even though the five files and two directories are in the program's folder. Useless. Uninstalled.

All the media player i have used play flash and practically every format out there and with all the video converter on the market any one can just change it to a different format if needed , so this item( aside from the extra features) seem pretty much a useless.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

mike,

Flash video is usually just regular video packaged in a Flash container. Some players can handle that, or the audio &/or video might be extracted & put in another type of container [e.g. .mp4], but not everyone has & uses those players or wants to bother fooling with the video.

Stopped using flash years ago, the web has html5 on sites like youtube and that is sufficient for me. I don't do Pogo since then either due to flash and Java. The few flash files I do have play with VLC or get converted to another format. Adobe and Oracle, Ugh.

Virus checker f-secure notifies win 32 virus but am familiar with this false pop up from game trainers I use sometimes. Okay it in sandboxie to check it out safely. Installed fine, open up program to see if registered, registered fine then it crash to desktop. Open again, another crash to desktop. No coffee, in no mood to tinker this morning will look at it later...

nomadss1,

"Okay it in sandboxie to check it out safely."

Just FWIW, since GOTD checks out their daily offers Very thoroughly, it's becoming more common for malware to check to see if it's running in a sandbox or virtual environment, & if so, the malware part stays dormant. IOW when it comes to checking for malware, please don't consider Sandboxie 100% foolproof.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

Mike, wouldn't the malware/spyware/virus checker/allinone suites software still catch that, unless the malware is zero day?

Should you be getting getting a message saying swf.max has stopped working, you most probably only have the flash player plugin installed (for Firefox,Opera.. ).

Please install Adobe Flash Player Activex for IE.
Get it at:

Your program keeps on crashing saying "swf.max has stopped working" Has nothing to do with installing Adobe Flash Player Activex for IE as I already have installed on my computer and why would this be reliant on IE anyway? I hate IE.
