This is version 4.3.7. What is the upgradeability? Can it be upgraded to version to 4.3.* or 4.*.* or *.*.*? Or no upgradeability at all?

John_Myers, upgradability for all the 4.3.x branch.
Paid upgrade to 4.4 or later

Noticed this program attempts Internet access immediately after opening it despite the update check setting I've set. Does this mean it will automatically update itself and revert back to a trial eventually? Can't block its Internet access to prevent this as that would make the program itself useless since it must have Internet access to do its job...

On the surface it looks good but having used it before I didn't find it reliable and accurate.

I use a combination of Filehippo and Ninite for most many updates.

Pretty good program, since I have a lot of video & audio programs on my pc would like to keep updated.
At first did not like , since it took so long to scan thru all my programs etc on start up, then figured out how to go thru, and try to uncheck certain programs from scan. Wish it had better options to do this like option to only scan my video or audio programs only, or PC utility programs only.
After a going thru and adding many programs to ignore list, Sumo does load and scan faster now, but wish was little bit faster still.
Some addtl feedback issues had:
**Even when select (Ignore my microsoft files- Sumo still pulls up a bunch of the same old broken or missing files in scan, cannot find an option to overlook or ignore these files.
**Found Many major and minor program updates shown in Sumo, are just not accurate or valid.
**Any programs Sumo shows has a major update, when select program to open program to verify update, Sumo does nothing, does not open any programs for some reason.

**(For GOTD)** Not sure if this because GOTD or Software Developer, before I thumbs up or down,
but I always test GOTD software on my older pc first, then if I like, install it on my main PC, but GOTD sometimes ask me for my email to get a download link, and link hardly ever shows up, been several hours now, since provided my same email again, still no link recvd in Spam or anywhere.
Why do this all the time, if GOTD already has my email subscription in place? Why can't I just download program?

I actually like a program that tells me what needs to be updated (with the new version number) and the version numbers I have now. I would rather do the updates myself to be sure there are no kinks in them, and that they are actually completed. Automation is not always a good thing. This is a keeper, as well as a possible buy when I get a new system.

Thank you GAOTD and KCSoftwares.

The best program update checker was Filehippo Updater. This stopped working recently and when I downloaded it again it was completely ruined. Sumo is a dead loss - only takes you to Google searched pages and often leaves you high and try when trying to guess what to download.

Reply   |   Comment by mikko  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Totally incorrect and unfair comment by mikko. Sumo Pro works extremely well. It quickly scans your hard drive for installed software, finds it (in my case, all of it) and identifies both the installed version number and the latest available version number. It also distinguishes between minor and major updates. It then allows you to choose between numerous well-known update sites so that you can use your favourite reliable downloads source.

I strongly urge all users of this site to find out for themselves whether software is useful rather than relying on the increasing number of extremely negative comments. Never believe that a product is "a dead loss" because someone else says so. They are usually misinformed.

I use to trust giveawayoftheday but it seems the software choices are less usefull and subject to third part malware/viruses etc. I already had sumo fre and decided to see what the difference was on pro. I downloaded and tried to install and my anti virus software would not allow installation, SAD! this is why: Detected and intercepted trojan attacks. Win32/Virus.00e

Sadly giveawayoftheday A once ver much trusted site is no longer.

Daniel Olmstead, please try to turn off your antivirus and launch setup again. The issue is due to our software wrapper that limits the software activation to 24 hours.

Alexa,

We quite often see this advice about turning off our anti-virus protection. Anti-Virus software is designed to protect our computers from nasties infecting our systems and causing damage, the anti-virus databases are usually carefully researched before being released. You say it's your wrapper that necessitates this, perhaps it's time you gave you thought about making is compatable with anti-virus software. Personally, I'd never disable my anti-virus protection unless I was working offline and trusted the software I was using.

Reply   |   Comment by Lenny  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+15)

Alexa, I had to uninstall the antivirus but did get the installation done. Quite the shame that software or anti virus programs cannot stop false flags. It costs time and more creating unfair advantage to what is normally determined safe software. I've been using giveawayogtheday a long time and this was the first time something was flagged. As you stated it's a common practice now to have to turn off anti virus or spyware software in order to download safe software and a fault of communication and programming on both sids of the fence. Thank you for the reply and download, should have turned a/v off to begin with,....................

Alexa, simply turning off my antivirus was not sufficient for me to get GOTD software to load. I found it necessary to boot in Safe mode with network enabled.

I just tried it and those are the findings:

1-You can not enter your own URL in the radio section
2-It does not displays any other details of the connection speed.
3-You have only 3 choices, high, standard and low when recording
4-You can not specify your own quality
5-The writing of the stations is pale grey and mostly tiny letters
6-The search results bring very few radio stations
7-The language barrier should be removed when searching stations
8-There is no short cut to the station you listen to it.

I can go for a very long list, but this should give you an insight of the software of the limitations.

WOW! All you GOTD users just can't be happy, can you? You complain about one piece of free software because it updates everything automatically without giving you a chance to approve what is updated. Then you complain about a second piece of software because it makes you go through a series of approvals before it updates anything. You all are just a bunch of...

I like how it searches for everything but there are a lot more programs what will do it a lot easier. And will download them for you instead of searching for them.

Marginally useful program. Scans your start menu and then checks for out-of-date programs. Once it finds them, uses a Google search to locate a potential download page. Most of the time it seems to find the correct page, but sometimes, though it "knows" the program is out of date, it can't locate a download page. I'm sticking with other updaters, which not only let you know what's out of date, but also let you download and install directly from their interface.

If you have a lot of software download from this site this program could cause you to lose a lot of those in which updates are not allowed.

Installed and uninstalled with no problems.

Reply   |   Comment by Salvia  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+15)

Salvia, That's for sure. However, you can uncheck the programs, you don't want updated. That's an easy setting. But fair to warn people about the "issue". That's actually the same with most updaters. How does anyone imagine, an updater to be aware of "giveaways". That's a simple setting. Have a nice weekend, and thanks.

Reply   |   Comment by Allan  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+23)

Salvia,
On the contrary, I would install it and then mark the GOTD programs so as NOT to be updated! That is always a danger with GOTD programs that have the provision that they cannot be updated without risk of reversion to Trialware. That way, when a GOTD program pops up an invitation to update, I won't make the mistake of accepting the update which would revert the program to Trial. If for no other reason, it could be very useful to "protect" GOTD type programs from "reverting", don't you think?

Osborne Lamoree,
On the contrary
Contrary to what? I didn't say don't install it just pointed out that if you do to exercise caution.
My system has been installed for six years and when this program started to list the softwar it was longer than I was prepared to plough through, hence my comment.

Watch out for Relevant Knowledge. I would recommend using only portable programs from this publisher.

Reply   |   Comment by gpc111  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+28)

gpc111, Also, the version number changes at least a couple of times a month so this version won't stay valid for long.

Reply   |   Comment by Nigel  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

gpc111,
Yes, I agree, last time, their driver uodater, DUMO, was out for free, I got the key, downloaded the portable version directly to my USB-Toolbox - and the registration was easy. However, be aware, how many different computers you run it at. The licence will expire - by obvious reasons. Btw, I certainly hope, SUMO Pro, has improved, because it should be able to update automatic. That was not possible last time, I checked it out. It did just like Qualy's Browser Checker : It told, which Software was out of date. That's it, and it makes me wonder, how comes, this is a "Pro" version. It's an update checker - not an updater, but that's just my opinion.
