It's generally best to click the "Different operating system or browser?" link, download the appropriate file, and install it without having any browsers open. If you're not using IE, you must also install the IE version. SWF files can be associated with IE (right-click the file, select "Open with...").

What #102, David, mentioned, is on the SourceTec Sothink SWF Quicker download page.

This is one of the best companies to offer software on GOTD! I love the fact that they always work as proposed and they're easy to use. I don't always have use for one of their programs or, even if I do, I wouldn't have enough use to warrant purchasing the software, but when someone asks me about "an easy to use application to..." Sothink is one of the first places I send them. Thanks Sothink and GOTD!

I too have had problems with Sothink programs. Downloaded & installed, however every time I open the program a window immediately pops up saying, "Sothink SWF Quicker has encountered a program and needs to close" (something like that). HOWEVER, if I wait a bit, the program itself opens in the background, and is usable if I drag the error message to the side! Three of their programs are installed & doing well; the one (I don't remember which) about 3 months ago messed up my system, kept getting a pop-up message all day every day, "cannot find Macromedia flash" -- I redownloaded this many times, ran Glary Utilities, Advanced System Care, CCleaner, several others & finally after weeks the message vanished, but something's still not right with the flash.

Guess this comment may not be too useful for those evaluating the program, but I have seen a few other similar comments today. If anyone has any suggestions, would appreciate input.

Did create a photo album and a slide show; SWF Quicker looks to be an excellent program. I wonder why it "needs to close", yet runs?

For those who get the error reports on this and other software where the Fault Module is StackHash. I have no help for you, just an explanation. StackHash is a catch all for an unknown error. It's really telling the tech. to look at the StackHash, in other words, to exam a memory dump file associated with the error. So you literally have an error that Windows Error Reporting couldn't identify.

Installed Fine on My Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit

This program is great for my little animations.
Could have wasted lots of money buying adobe's flash maker.

At first I wasn't sure how good this program would be because I had never heard of So think until recently but when I tried it the program was easy to use, many settings available and a nice layout.

Wow, this is almost exactly Flash 8! I have Flash 8, but I got this because it's free. So cool and definitely useful.

Easy install, great program. LOVE it!

It installed fine, and runs fine. But it either isn't the full version, or the tutorials on their website refer to a different version. I can't do any of the tutorials because there are commands and UI elements missing when I run this. The Help file also doesn't match this version, and while the program seems very well put together functionally, it is *very* difficult to understand the Help content. The names of UI elements are dorky, and it is very hard to understand what's actually going on. Double-clicking an entry in the Mainscene, for example, doesn't bring up any information about the entry; it just lets you rename the entry. It's very hard to figure out what each element in a scene does, because Preview doesn't "respect" turning on or off entries (that is, if you click to clear an "eye" in the Mainscene, running Preview still shows that content.)

I'd like to give this a higher grade, but I can't give it more than a B-. Great concept, good functionality execution, but very poor to miserable documentation and UI/UA (user architecture).

I bought SWF Quicker on an earlier version.
To see Sothink making the move to release this great software with GAOTD is FANTASTIC!

I always get this message with all Sothink SWF/Flash products, use latest IE/FF, follow troubleshooting guide ad infinitum on Adobe website; I even install from the site and I do separate DAP, FF and Orbit downloads then install from the .exe file into the pgm folder itself, drag and drop the installed pgm Sothink claims is not installed; put it in prog Files, all I can think of; even to USB drive and back again; do clean downloads several times; several pgm installs; even see the flash pgm in the folder; use MS Search to even locate it: Sothink run says it is not installed; Sothink INSTALL says it could not register the .dll file; Sothink registers it self in my Registry, but the Find can't find it or any other components...is it there? Who only knows...been doing this song and dance for every great Sothink and other SWFFlash prod ever since the Fall of 2008 without help or success on this constantly autoupdate, XP sp2 1/2-G latest IE/FF 2.6G laptop. I optioned ActiveX the way they said...no go. I even installed good, verifiable Flash plyer many times and even today out of wild desperation Shockwave from this overcomplicated drone_accomodating-NOT! website...good download, but not what Sothink wants...been waiting to see if anybody else had a similar prob: Sothink and Adobe need to get together on this. FF and DAP used to compete for the download until they integrated and allowed an opt-out on who gets the grab...now FF only ignores the option sometimes and overrides the DAP download. Orbit always waits to be given the OK while hovering on the desktop. What can I say, they have an aggressive tendency to either do or don't. Would be nice if they would investigate and test this out, but, only two XPs in almost a year...hey, who really cares, huh, heh, eh? Cheers! Woulda, shoulda, coulda won't cut it for me, Bubby, Ash, all the good contributing etc. et al people. Eli out.

I do want to make a clarification about Sothink SWF Quicker and ActionScript, because the GOTH description lists that one of the program's special features is that it "Fully support[s] syntax of Flash ActionScript 2.0 to control the animations."

Given the fact that Adobe released ActionScript 3.0 in 2006 (three years ago) -- and has was first included with Adobe Flex 2.0 and Flash Player 9 -- I got a bit worried that Sothink provided Giveaway of the Day with an old release of SWF Quicker.

I just wanted to let anyone who plans to take advantage of the ActionScript 3.0 (even if you do not wish to create original Flash content -- such as Flash games, Flash videos, interactive animations, text effects, slide shows, or would like to use SWF Quicker to create a simple prototype of a rich Internet application [RIA]), GOTD is offering SWF Quicker 4.5, the most current version of the program.

According to the SourceTec Software Web site, Sothink SWF Quicker 4.5 is the first version of the FLV/SWF editor and creator to support ActionScript 3.0 and, if you have installed the program and have explored it a bit, you have realized SWF Quicker 4.5 includes an editor (for writing ActionScript code, viewing example code, checking syntax -- with a simple function "wizard"), "Provide an intelligent ActionScript Editor, which supports Syntax Highlighting, Auto Completion and Dynamic Prompt."

Using SWF Quicker 4.5 to create original content requires Adobe's Flex SDK. I downloaded the open-source version (with Mozilla license), although Sothink SWF Quicker may require the standard version of Adobe's Flex SDK, which is available on the same Web page at Adobe.com.

Sothink SWF Quicker also requires Sun's Java run-time engine (JRE), which most people probably already have installed.
