Bruce, #31 ~ Back in the days of DOS, screensavers were NOT necessary.
We worked on the computer and if we were going to be away for an extended period of time we simply turned the monitor off.

installed just fine on win 7 ultimate 64 and thanks for another beautiful screen saver! I would have the reindeer a bit less 'antsy' appearing. They don't ... tend to move that way in the wild or that often. They tend to snuffle in the ground, seeking small sprigs of green under the snow and stuff. So, a bit more natural movements would be preferable. I also voted on the one that said more views and santa coming out, christmas music. Or, even the ability to choose your music. (In fact, I'm going to put that up.) Thanks again! Appreciate it.

I've been a fan of Astro Gemini screensavers for many years. Yes, I understand full well that screensavers aren't a necessity to protect our monitors any more, but just because we don't *need* something doesn't mean we shouldn't have it in our lives just for fun. Screensavers can be fun - especially the 3D ones from Astro Gemini.

My only complaint isn't a complaint at all - I would just be SO HAPPY if they were to update their old "Christmas in The City" screensaver for use on our modern computers. That was the greatest screensaver EVER! (It showed cars driving and making turns along city streets in the snow, with the streets and buildings having many Christmas decorations.)

Thanks again, GAOTD and Astro Gemini, for your generosity!

This is an excellent offering for those who are still using Windows XP with a single 19" monitor. Unfortunately, Astro Gemini has not upgraded the screen savers since the days when you really need one. There is no support for multiple monitors, and the graphics don't resize correctly on a wide screen monitor.

I have this screensaver from whence it was offered on here about 3 or 4 years ago. I figure it is the same version. It is worth the download because if nothing happens to your computer, you can use it next year. We shouldnt complain so much, afterall it is free!

Yes...I get it--many people HATE screensavers. They're not necessary--I get that too. But how about just shutting up and being thankful that we can get free stuff everyday from GOTD!

Personally, I've always like them--even back in the DOS days when they WERE NECESSARY!!! Relaxing. And A-Z always is giving them away here. Let's say thanks or just pass if you don't want it. This is one of their better quality ones--and it's past Christmas-- so what? I still have Christmas lights up around the house and there's snow on the ground. So it's a fine saver for any winter day.

Well it installed quite quickly, but it took a long time to run. When it did run it was jerky with not much happening most of the time. The graphics are poor with no 3D effect at all. I really cant see the point of it. I never use screen savers, not since my green screen days of a long long time ago.

Installed and runs fine on 64-bit Windows 7HP, but I have to say that I like the "Christmas Eve" one better.

Thank you GOTD for both!

For those complaining about the timing of this giveaway... I do realise that the standards of education in certain countries in the "far west" are rather poor, but millions and millions of orthodox christians follow the julian calendar, and are therefore eagerly looking forward to Christmas on January 7th and new year on January 14th. This includes Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Ukrainian Orthodox, Armenian orthodox, Servian Orthodox and macedonian Orthodox, as well as millions of Eastern Orthodox minorities in many, many orther countries, such as Turkey, Iran. In some countries like Greece and Bulgaria, people celebrate both the Gregorian (for convenience) and the Julian (for religious purposes) dates. If I'm not mistaken, the coptic christians also follow the julian calendar.

When I was young, I used to see the milkman's horse doing the rounds with blinkers on. Being "blinkered" is still a very apt metaphor for narrow vision.

Obviously, the people doing giveawayoftheday or writing the programs don't realize that Santa gives gifts in the West on DECEMBER 25th, NOT JANUARY 7th, which is the day gifts are given in Russia!

Downloaded & installed A-OK on Vista Hm Prem., x64.

I Love this ScreenSaver, Animations are Great, really fun. Loading of the Screensaver takes a bit ... so, don't think that is not working, like I did.

Thanks to AstroGemini & GOTD Team ... really Appreciate it. Like "Carole" poster #20 and have other mentioned, it is Never too late for a Great XMAS present.

Not everyone uses the same calendar. Chinese New Year will this year be on the 10th of februari.

The screensaver is really in time and is meant for Islamic Christmas (yes, they know of Jesus and they want peace on Earth and they like to give away surprises too).

Special thanks to Giovanni (#7) I didn't know about burning a screen.
I got a new and splendid LCD-screen for X-mass and like to enjoy it a little longer, so you convinced me to use screensavers from now on. Such a coincidence.

I think it should be Christmas every day of the year and like many who have seasonal busineses we would be rich, tell me is this the idea of this screensaver being issued right now ?
Could be timely as the 12 days of Christmas has not yet passed, or is this in time for the January sales ???

Its a hit or miss install on Win 7. You will note that they do not advertise Win 7 compatibility. Some of their screen savers will work while others do not (Win 7 will not apply them and will not launch them). Its a shame since their screen savers are great, especially the music. If they would resolve this I would buy the Holiday pack.

Of course, ever time there is a screen saver offered someone always starts a rant on how they are no longer necessary...DUH, we know that but they are nice to watch Mr. Scrooge. Its cute when the PC is sitting idle. It's only once a year Sir.

Screensavers are entertaining but they are not for me. Once I'm done using the computer I've got texting to do, TV channels to flip through and latest movies to go see. I just can imagine staring a computer "screen" another second. Oops... got to go "I've got Mail".

LOL @ #3 Lyn Christie,
I am not far from Sydney... just north. .. But I do know what a white Christmas is like as I lived in Canada for 8.5 years. ... the freezing rain was a little harsh, but survived it.

Astro Gemini people, wouldn’t it have been a better idea to give away “Santa’s Home 3D Screensaver” on December 1st and “Winter 3D Screensaver” today, instead of the opposite?

Oh, well… thanks anyhow and merry Christmas then! :)
