I have never had any problem getting a license key by following the instructions in the readme.txt included in the zip file. This time it took less than a minute.

I stopped installing software that expires. Recovery is very risky if crossed files are integrated into new file when recovered.
It is most likely that the hard drive failed or is about to fail. Recovering files from such drive is futile.
If recovery is from a recent deletion by accident, look in the recycled bin, it may still be there.
Make backups on regular bases, no need to recover anything, just in case there is hardware or software failures in your system.

Mike, RecoverXData only reads your hard drive and will not damage or write into your hard drive. So if you have lost your data by deletion, emptied recycle bin, lost partition, etc, it's highly recommended to start a scan and check if the important data is still recoverable.
To make it safer, you can install RecoverXData to an external drive or another drive where there's no data lost.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email. We will try our best to help. :-)

Linda@RecoverXData, The very act of reading a hard drive that is damaged can tip the drive over the edge into complete failure it is irresponsible for you to promise the action of the software cannot damage a hard drive when even just spinning up a failing hard drive can be the final straw that breaks it. Which is why professional recovery software should offer the option to do an error tolerant image of the target drive to a known good drive and then perform the recovery scans on the safe image file and not on the vulnerable aging drive.

Esimvie Osuamkpe, you can download the package from the download button, and in the zip file, you can find a readme file where you can get the link to apply for a license code.
Once you get the license code from your email, you can install RecoverXData from the zip file, and press on Register button to register.

From that type of programs it can be said that files can be achieved back if they are NOT overwritten by other data. If they are overwritten then they are no longer (fully) usable. Videos: Windows Media player says; cannot build up the file because it is damaged '. Photos can partly be redeemed, but most of them are also damaged and hardly usable. Doc's are hardly or not readable. Or not complete.

    Elaine Romans,

    Yes agreed.

To be clear, your comment is generalising and not in relation to the software offered specifically then, is it?

Reply   |   Comment by Terry Ive  –  3 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-13)

It's correct to say that lost/deleted files cannot be recovered if overwritten, meaning the storage space parts of the file occupied now contain new data. That applies more to conventional hard disks -- with SSDs the more urgent danger is the Trim function, which pre-clears deleted data, preparing storage to again be written to. Files are stored in pieces, as small packets of data rather than one larger, continuous chunk. If most, but not all of the pieces making up a file are recovered, then that file may or may not still be usable. Whether files can be recovered or not is often a matter of luck, but there are many things that influence successful recovery, and strategies to increase your odds of success. Recovering lost files IS NOT hopeless.

The larger the hard disk partition, the more storage locations available, making it less likely lost/deleted files will be overwritten. Windows writes to storage constantly -- having your stuff on a different partition means that Windows will not write to, or overwrite anything on that partition. As soon as you find you've lost something, shutting the device down immediately, using the switch or pulling the plug rather than going through Windows shut down increases the odds nothing will be overwritten. You can then use another copy of Windows to run recovery software, booting to an external drive/USB stick or attaching the drive to another device. You can also use a bootable USB stick to create a backup image of the partition where the files you want to be recovered are located, making sure to include free space in your backup image, and perform recovery based on that. And of course the best strategy is to Always store you stuff in more than one place.

mike, ...the best strategy is to Always store you stuff in more than one place..... On that point I completely agree. Everything that has to do with my documents is on a 64 MB memory stick.
With the exception of my movies, which are on an external 2Terra SSD.
