In my opinion, this program will be useless to the vast majority of webmasters. What is the point of limiting its analysis to the 'top 100' keywords, given the vast number of different products and services being marketed on the internet for which those 100 keywords will be quite irrelevant?

I also found the search engine selection procedure bizarre, poorly explained, and constrained by an unhelpful and seemingly arbitrary restriction of choices. The selection process was not helped by the very odd presentation of search engine/country combinations. These are listed only partially alphabetically, leaving users unsure whether they have located all the potentially relevant permutations unless they are willing to scroll through the entirety of a long and mostly disorganized list.

The user interface is minimalist, and provides very little in the way of explanations and instructions. No information is given regarding how to interpret the results of an analysis — a critical deficiency. What little information there is doesn't appear to have been checked for grammaticality or coherence by a native speaker of English. Clicking 'Help' opens a webpage that links to some FAQs, but there is hardly any additional content there that would help a user who has a query. If you click on the link to the video tutorials, a YouTube page opens that simply states "This channel does not exist".

In summary, this is an amateurish product of minimal value, poorly explained and poorly supported... Bye-bye, Rankaware!

If you use virtual machines for testing software, then you can always create a snapshot, install the software, then restore the snapshot, without needing to use additional 3rd party software.

@david: if you are still not sure what the responses to your question are talking about read up on "virtual machiines" and "virtual disk". it helped me when i had same questions as you.

Re David: "uninstalled via reboot" means that Karl has tested the software in virtual mode. In this mode the software is not really installed, it is working only within that particular session and so when he reboots it is uninstalled.

A very nice little tool for webmasters or marketers. I was very quickly able to set up my website with my most important keywords, chose the US versions of google, bing, and yahoo, and one click, got a representation of how well I rank on each search engine. What's not to like? Maybe if I wanted to see how I ranked worldwide, it would be irritating to have to choose just one country per search engine, but for me, not a problem. Thank you, GOTD!

SEO's are a bit obsolete - Google no longer looks for keywords - they now rank websites based on their content, links, videos & social media.

looks promising. SEO - Search Engine Optimization. Yes, it is for website keyword search rankings. Which keywords lead to hits/referrals to your website? For instance, when people type giveaway in a search it leads them to "giveawayoftheday.com" as the first result. That would be a #1 rank.

Re #18, "... Doesn’t seem to be aware that the Google rank of your site changes depending which country and region you search from."

Did you try Settings/Proxy (to the left)? There you find the answer.

Doesn't seem to be aware that the Google rank of your site changes depending which country and region you search from (try it with a VPN service). What if I'm trying to track my U.S. northeast rank as well my California rank, when I live in Canada?

I understand that I cant figure out most of this application but it doesn't make it any easier for me either! Interface is beautiful but the functions will take some getting used to. Even then its okayish. There are heaps of SEO tools much better than this.
* http://tools.seobook.com/
* https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/

And then there is Google analytics and uber suggest [http://ubersuggest.org/] which provides some of the best suggestions for SEO keywords. Good luck and happy browsing. Thanks for the giveaway.

@14 Philip: I had the same problem. Because I never read the actual text in the readme in the giveaway-zip. Today I had to :(.

Look left below and choose Account/free.

@Philip: Do this. After installing click on "Account". "License Type:" I guess that was trial or something. Click on that and a user id and password portal opens. Hope it helps. Do let me know.

"Of course you can get Dialymis under the top hundred. But who searches for this word?" - Karl

...And as soon as Karl posts this, thousands of GAotD'ers search for the definition of this word :)
(and incidentally, Karl's post here on GAotD is one of the top results - Google thinks I meant to search for 'dialysis'

#6, David: to further elaborate on Krypteller's response, Karl creates a virtual computer system inside his real computer, and installs giveaway programs on that virtual machine.
A program installed this way can't affect the real machine (including any bundled malware, bloatware, etc.) as it is installed/contained within the virtual machine. As far as the installed software is concerned, it 'thinks' it is installed on a real computer.

If it's a keeper (rare), Karl installs it on his real machine. Otherwise, he reboots his real machine and the installed program disappears without a trace. Virtual machines are a great security tool... you can install viruses, see what they are doing, and then reboot the machine to eliminate it.

UPDATE - Sorry, I just want to clarify that today's offering is not submission software, but rather "checking" software, for information purposes (to then be used for marketing).

How you put it's results to good use is up to you (and your budget).

Downloaded and installed OK. However, I have not been asked to input Registration Number and cannot find how to do this. Am concerned I shall lose the use of this program because of this!

@6 I use a program called 'Shadow Defender' before I test GOTDs.

It allows you to freeze your whole HD in time, and do whatever you want to it, when you reboot everything resets back to normal!

Thoroughly recommend it for anyone. I even had fun deleting key Windows files :D Just restarted and everything was fine again!

The instructions to register clearly state 'choose tab "Account" at the bottom left corner, click "Free" on the point "License type" and register the software using the registration name and activation key provided'.

One big problem. There is NO tab called 'account' at the bottom left hand corner! However, if you click on 'Add Website' this brings up the registration box, so be warned!.

I started to use the program but it only allows you to check ONE search engine at a time (Google.com or Google.uk.co etc) from only ONE country. Same with Bing & Yahoo, only one search engine per country at a time will make this a long a tedious process.

Why can't the people who produce this program set it up so you can select multiple search engines (from different countries) at the same time?

Has potential but needs a LOT more work.

Karl, Please can you explain what your commonly used phrase "Uninstalled via reboot" means?
I see it nearly every day but no one I ask can explain what it is.

Thanks - David

Installed and ran fine on Windows Vista Premium.
I look after a few websites so put in details of one of these and ran the program. Gives some interesting information. Will keep running it for a few weeks to see how useful it is.
When registered is said licence 363 days - strange year?
Not quite how I understand the word giveaway, more a loan for a while. GOTD should not allow programs unless they are a real giveaway.

Advantages & Disadvantages of Rankaware

Advantages of Rankaware:
1). Easy to Install, and is of very small size.
2). Ability to add proxy while checking for keywords in the search engine is very helpful.
3). Cool interface with ability to modify the window size.
4). You can create fully customized report, with your website information on it.
Disadvantages Of Rankaware:

1). No ability to directly mail the report to an email address.
2).
Rankaware should consider adding report export in HTML and other formats.

Installed and registered (the unusual way) on a Win 8.1.2 Pro 64 bit system.

There is no "registration key", after a first run, the software tells me (when I want to change settings) that the software is unregistered. Now you can enter the key.

A Chinese company from HongKong with address and phone (not for support!).

A modern, nice looking interface opens. You enter your website, enter the keywords to search for and test in ranking, in the settings you can enter proxies for a better check for local sites in e.g. Japan or on the Fidji Islands. And you can select a schedule for the ranking test.

And now I'm lost. The software seems to display only top 100 rankings, splitted in ranking 1..10, 11..30, 31..100, less than 100

Dear programmer, if I have a top ten ranking on Google, I don't need this software for sure. I would like to know whether changes in keywords, headers and links push my website from rank 2034 to 870...

The reports in CSV or PDF format are good looking. But helas not informative at all, because they don't list anything detailed under a ranking of 100. And please, open the folder, if I click on okay...

Long time ago my website was in the top ten. At that time I would liked to have such a software for documenting my ranking.

A nicely made tool for the webmaster. Frustrating if you don't have a top 100 ranking for your keywords. Try to get "car" in the top hundred. Of course you can get Dialymis under the top hundred. But who searches for this word?

It can be fun for looking the keyword ranking of other sites. Maybe it helps to improve your strategy.

Does what it claims. A nice add-on. Nothing for the serious marketer.

Uninstalled via reboot.

I hate to appear dumb but I did not even know what an SEO tool was for. Checking in Yahoo, I found the following two pages..

http://tools.seobook.com/
http://www.seotools.com/

I'm not sure how well this will do as most users here will not like the one year license but I wish the publisher the best of luck. Thank you GOTD team and Rankaware.

If anyone is wondering what the hell a SEO tool, and a SERP ranking is, then the following link may help:

Unless I'm mistaken, this software seems to be for people with web sites.
