What a confusing, moronic download process, not to mention trying to get it registered. So many terms, numbers, etc.

What is a license key, serial number, hardware ID code, hash code?

And how to tell if it's registered? Click on the little icons in the upper right corner? What are those icons? Anyone ever hear of hover help?

Guess I'll run it in a few days to see if it blows up. Just thankful I learned many years ago when installing new software ALWAYS create a restore point.

I did not vote either way on today's offering.
The comments alone were more than sufficient for me to determine that I don't even care to test this software.

I pasted in the license and that was it. When I clicked "about" to determine if the program was registered it showed the 0QLFF..... license and also the key which had been auto filled. Ready to go. Will test later. I read the license and did not join the Customer Experience Improvement Program.

What is the BIG DEAL PEOPLE!!
I downloaded the program and went to the link provided to obtain the reg code.
Within seconds, I received the reg code everyone has been posting below me. Meh!!
I launched Setup and was asked immediately to enter the reg code now or do it later.
I chose to do it now by entering the reg code in the field provided in the window of the installer.
I installed it, took a bit longer because of the drivers that had to be installed.
After it was done, I went to the toolbar at the top of the program and checked if it was registered
and, sure enough, it was. No tricks, no hoops to jump through. It was easy as apple pie.
I just don't understand why people are having issues registering this program.
Maybe I got lucky because whatever the issue was was resolved already.
This looks to be a pretty descent program. Lots of features in a nicely laid out interface.

First you go to: https://www.idiskhome.com/redir.php/main/dmpro_reg_of_giveawayoftheday

There you get a license key also called serial number: 0QLFF-66GPH-SP9Z4-9NBOF-DOGCD

When you install the program you input the mentioned serial number.

You run the program and find a message that it is not activated. You click in the activation link and you´ll see
the serial number and your hardware ID code.

You go to the link: https://www.idiskhome.com/redir.php/main/offline

Input your data and you´ll get the activation code which is your offline activation. Insert it where its necessary

Voila!!! you have your program registered!!!

Johnathan, well done! What a palava! So it's likely that if the need for backup restoration is replacement motherboard or hard drive there is a really strong possibility that the hardware ID code will change and it may not restore or may not still retain activation after a system restore with replacement hardware... I'll stick with tried and tested programs not tied to hardware ID hash codes.

Johnathan, not correct, I filled in full name and email addy and did not tick the box for newsletter and did not receive the code via email as the site states.

The code is the same for all the users: 0QLFF-66GPH-SP9Z4-9NBOF-DOGCD

Reply   |   Comment by Johnathan  –  9 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

wombat,
If you did not tick 'accepting the newsletter' box you also ticked not wanting to get the reg code.
You have to read very carefully before making decisions.

Reply   |   Comment by Robert Smith  –  9 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

wombat,
I meant to say....
If you did not tick "I agree and would like to receive the newsletter and the software for free." checkbox, you also chose not to accept the registration code.
That's better.

Johnathan, yes I know that but the GAOTD info said I would get an email with the code, not to worry now I have uninstalled the program as I cannot trust a company that does not deliver.
Thank you for your feedback

The last two giveaway's that I've tried to download, including this one, I get "Oooops! Sorry, the page you're looking for isn't here." Any ideas why?

Reply   |   Comment by Sandra Truax  –  9 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Sandra Truax, could be browser update changed something or browser add-on or something changed with your ISP... like using a 4G LTE access point instead of a conventional wired or fibre internet... look for something that has changed just before your problem started. The link you get has to be used in its entirety it has to reach the server intact so the backend scripts can translate the personalised link into an authorised download link. Any corruption of the personalised URL will result in an oops sorry page. It is unlikely to be a giveawayoftheday.com server side fault or many more including regulars would have "same here" commented.

what is the thing about the name "Qiling"
Is that an old and revered name in China or Korea?
No one seems to actually have tried using the software because they were so excited about getting the registration email that they forgot to try it out.
Has anyone seen a legitimate review of this software?

In giveaways like this where it sounds like only a single identical key is mailed out to every request and it proves to be not received by many due to problems with SMTP delivery problems that GAOTD should demand the vendor allow them to provide that key in the readme.txt file and quit their futile email harvesting. If the same key is sent to everyone there is no need for individual participants email addresses being submitted to anyone since it is not used to generate a user specific key.

I did not tick the box and got the code.
So....why am I not installing it yet?
1. No responses from the manufacturer to giveawayoftheday comments from participants.
2. The majority of reviews elsewhere are not reviews but rehashes of what the program will do and appear to be "professionally" written.
3. Very concerning reviews about system trashing (these have the appearance of consumer reviews).
4. Not one review I can find that says a successful recovery has been made - this is fundamental. What good is a program if it doesn't successfully backup and restore?

But, let's be fair to Qiling Tech Co. Ltd as it is just after 3:00 am on Saturday in Changdu. I will wait and hope that management/staff will be responding to the participants' comments by 11:00pm EDST (11:00 am in China).

I think the activation code only gets sent if you click the box saying "I agree and would like to receive the newsletter and the software for free." - although it says it's been sent even if you don't check that box. Waited after not checking the box, to no avail - submitted the form again with the box checked, and the license code arrived almost immediately.

Also worth noting, if you already have installed the previous giveaway version 4.7.3 from February this year, the license from that is still valid with this version, so you don't need a new license code.

For the first time in all the years I have used this site I have down voted this program without trying it. Why? As I always do before trying, I looked for user or tech reviews.

After going through over 150 hits I found only one user review from someone who had their win 10 system crash with it. Everything else was download sites with the same three descriptions, but no actual real use review. I find that very strange and IMHO that makes for a very iffy program.

Then I read all the problems folks are having getting info and see no one from the company on here trying to address these problems.

So no developer, not jumping on your product. You need to do a much better job if you want cautious folks to try this software.

I used the Facebook Giveaway link and received the registration code and a link to download the software very quickly. It seems to do what it says it will do, with a clean user interface and lots of features I have not yet tested. My only concern is several people who reported, on another site, that the install process wrecked their Windows installation in August of last year, but mine went smoothly.

QILING Disk Master Pro does work in brief testing, and it checks all of the right boxes with one *possible* exception -- putting an existing, working copy of Windows on a NVMe drive. Simply cloning the partition with the copy of Windows won't work -- you need to use the migration tools in apps like Macrium Reflect [paid version] or Paragon's Hard Disk Mgr. 16 Advanced. QILING Disk Master Pro doesn't have that sort of migration tool, designed to move a copy of Windows to new hardware, but it does have a Fix Boot utility that **may** work.

[An NVMe drive uses the M2 form factor [looks similar to a stick of RAM], but communicates with the PCI bus rather than using the much more common SATA -- the advantage is that some NVMe drives are roughly 5 times as fast as a faster SSD. Since you can buy an NVMe drive for not much more than a regular 2.5" SSD, the only real restriction is that only newer motherboards, PCs, & laptops *may* have one or more NVMe sockets.]

One feature of QILING Disk Master Pro that's a bit of a throwback IMHO, is the option of putting what would normally go on a bootable USB stick on the hard drive itself. This used to be more common, giving you the recovery features you'd get booting the PC/laptop to the USB stick the app created, but without the hassle of booting to a USB stick, e.g. changing the boot order so the PC/laptop would boot from the USB stick rather than the hard drive.

One thing you should note that's related to that, according to the online help docs, downloading/installing the Windows AIK is necessary to create QILING Disk Master Pro's bootable USB sticks for Windows versions prior to 10. Those AIKs are a big download & take over a GB of disk space. Microsoft recommends using the Windows 10 ADK, which is the default, so *hopefully* you'll be all right, but Do Test any bootable USB stick to make sure it'll work if you need it. Macrium Reflect Free has the best USB sticks -- they'll work with just about everything -- but you'd be losing a Lot of features compared to today's GOTD, *IF* those features matter to you [you may already have partitioning apps etc.].

While it may be relatively newer than brands we've been seeing since Windows XP, QILING Disk Master Pro has been around for a few years now, so I wouldn't be afraid to check it out, to see if you like the scheduling features for example better than alternatives or whatever software you're using now.

There is something wrong with their registration process.
The details that were entered get blanked as soon as you press 'submit'.
There is no messege saying that you have successfully registered as usually happens
with a registration process.
No Email arrives from them.
Could someone from Qiling care to comment , please.

Reply   |   Comment by User  –  9 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

User, That is precisely what happened when I went and registered. I had a sacrificial test system all set up and ready to go.

This Giveaway raises more questions than answers. Not that any answers appear to have come from the company itself. And regardless of the time zone difference, as a responsible vendor one would be proactive and make arrangements for some kind of service desk presence .

Frankly, as a result of some ambiguous descriptions insofar as its functionality is concerned, and then the case of the missing Key...

I'll just stick with Acronis, Paragon and EASEUS' tools.

Julio,
It's great app. It can create disk images, clone disk/partitions, move OS to other drive, etc.
You can choose to let it install itself as option in boot(computer restart) and from there, thanks to the WinPE that it creates, you can do recovery (from disk/partition/system image), fix boot problems, create RAM disk, etc.
You can create (bootable) Recovery CD/DVD/USB that can be used on other computers.
Excuse my bad English

Reply   |   Comment by Galan  –  9 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Julio, This is usually the case when vendors demand a giveaways registration data has to be managed by them and their email server which usually has a bad reputation with certain email providers or does not cope well with servers that perform a variation on greylisting spammer blocking system. Either because it retries to slowly or too quickly or performs retries via different load balancing SMTP servers so present a different IP number each connection attempt so never succeed passing the greylisting challenge until all originating SMTP relays IP numbers are exhausted and get used again.... Vendor based Email only registration systems are just a bad idea for a giveaway. GAOTD managed email key retrieval system is usually workable but not everyone gets their key if they ever unsubscribe from GAOTD general mailings. I usually do not bother with vendor based email only key retrieval or multi-email varification procedures as 99% of such giveaways are not worht the hassel and delays in registering the product and determining if the software is even worth keeping forgetting the risks in giving an unknown foriegn entity ones email address that could do anything with it... I may get tempted to use vendor based regisstration IF they display the key ON the webpage itself there and then but generally not otherwise.
